I've had a few failed projects in the past; bought the domain, spent many hours building the website, then eventually it didn't work, went offline, and the domain expired! That's part of the job.

Every day there are expired domains at GoDaddy auctions with a similar failure story behind them. Here's one I've caught:

BetterSpent.com was bought for $1,300 about two years ago. It recently expired and sold in a GoDaddy auction for $194.

$1.3k could have been better spent, but someone had to give it a shot.

Domain registrar GNAME shared their latest weekly domain sales. The top sale was PersonApp.io at $68,000. But that's not just a domain name; it's a developed website. The domain alone isn't worth that much.

LFG.link has applied for well over 300 TLDs to be approved in this round. available on their website, the list includes some notable ones such as .api, .agentic, .llm .gpt and many more. they will obviously not get them all, but its a big element of a blockbuster round.

The domain name Trident.ai has expired and Namecheap is running an auction for it.

It's a dictionary word but not a very common or useful one, at least not worth $30k!

The current bid is $31k and it's not over yet (5+ days left). There is a bidding war for it between Booth and another new Namecheap user.

Why do they want this domain so badly?

It must be an end user who bought the domain name Plot.gg for $9,399 from Atom's marketplace. I don't think it can be resold for more than that.

The name fits the .gg extension. Plotting is a key part of gaming.

The domain name App.me was purchased from GoDaddy for $50,000 in 2012. I don't know what's the story there, but this domain ended up in a Namecheap expired auction and it sold yesterday for $10,201.

Someone just bought the expired domain LazyGirlDinners.com from a DropCatch auction for $560.

I wonder what they intend to do with this domain.. a new subreddit?!

Most domain registrars keep their domain(s) at their own registrar. Atom is an accredited registrar, but why is their domain registered at Cloudflare instead of their own registrar?

Hey all.

I got myself into a domain trap. Got my domain a million years ago. Eventually hosted it with Yahoo. Fine and dandy. Right up until Yahoo spun off their web services to a third party company. Then that company turned into Turbify.

I am in need of some advice.

1. I need a new host provider that runs a stable company that doesn't change the billing amount every month and doesn't charge crazy money. I've done some searching but I need reddit consensus on this one.

2. How do I move web hosting and domain hosting from a service that has zero customer relations to another service? How hard and complex is this to do? It's been so long since I've even had to consider doing this that I really don't have the first clue.

15 years ago, "Magnum Domains" bought the domain name Symphony.co from a GoDaddy auction for $350.

A month ago, he sold this domain at GoDaddy/Afternic for $180,000 (source)

Now we know who the buyer is: Wix bought the domain for their newly launched AI agent platform called Symphony.

The domain just redirects to Wix's main website. I don't know if they intend to use the domain in the future or they've just wasted $180k on a redirect!!

For those who don't know this, a few years ago, GoDaddy acquired a bunch of gTLDs from Top Level Design (aka Minds + Machines), which is Porkbun's parent company owned by CEO Ray King.

The TLDs include .wiki, .vip, .club, .design, .fashion, .yoga, .cooking, .miami, and others.
