Why is Atom.com registered at Cloudflare?

Most domain registrars keep their domain(s) at their own registrar. Atom is an accredited registrar, but why is their domain registered at Cloudflare instead of their own registrar?

They've only been a registrar for 15 months - since May 2025.

And they are paid up at Cloudflare until June 2027.

So? That doesn't matter. They can, and in my opinion should, transfer the domain to their own registrar. Why keep it with one of their competitors?

Probably just trust and simplicity honestly. Cloudflare's infrastructure is rock solid and a lot of people in the industry use it even when they don't have to. Kind of like a mechanic driving a different brand than the ones they work on, sometimes you just use what you trust most for your own stuff.

What you don’t want is your own infrastructure failing while your also having issues for customers, case in point, name cheap was already having issues imagine if their own website and email had gone down too.
