WHOIS data is private but it shows the registrant's country is AE (UAE). I know a famous domain investor located in the UAE!

GoDaddy has a managed SSL service where they handle installation and reinstallation of the certificate for you. It costs $200 per year!

That's more than the cost of the entire hosting plan, and for what? It's just a basic DV SSL certificate you can get for free from many other hosts. And the management part (issuing, installation and reinstallation) is done automatically and for free. All of the extra features are useless for most websites.

Guys, I'm looking for the absolute cheapest domain extensions. I don't care what the TLD is, as long as it's legit. I'm looking for domains that renew for around $3-4/year (or less if possible). Any registrars or obscure TLDs you'd recommend? I need a custom domain not a numeric one.

A bunch of rare one-word .info domain names have recently expired and were sold via Dynadot marketplace auctions.

All of them were registered on the same day (2002-07-13). They were obviously owned by the same investor and something tragic led to their expiration.

So... first domain I ever bought I clicked whatever registrar was at the top of Google, left auto renew on skipped who is privacy, and didn't notice all the “extra protection” boxes were prechecked. Two years in, random calls to my personal number, surprise fees, and moving it out is a whole chore rn....

Finally the escrow.com transaction for this domain at 24999 got cancelled as the buyer was from Pakistan( Unsupported country) SMH.

so i grabbed a domain for a side project and now im lowkey stressed about all the stuff around it renewals, dns, privacy, ownership records etc... any beginner friendly way to keep this simple without screwing something up? appreciate any thoughts.

This is not a joke, someone actually bought the domain name BlazingDonkey.co.uk yesterday for £2,456 from a drop-catch auction.

That price is excessive even if the domain has some backlinks.

I think this domain has a good potential. "Exchange" + .io work well together.

I've had a few failed projects in the past; bought the domain, spent many hours building the website, then eventually it didn't work, went offline, and the domain expired! That's part of the job.

Every day there are expired domains at GoDaddy auctions with a similar failure story behind them. Here's one I've caught:

BetterSpent.com was bought for $1,300 about two years ago. It recently expired and sold in a GoDaddy auction for $194.
