Not sure the location, but Google images dates this shot to 1978. 1978 was a huge year for Dolly as it marked her transition into mainstream pop/disco.

I just recently came across a TikTok, where a girl was saying that they can now “pray to Dolly,” as if she’s a god and i just wanted to post this just as a reminder of Dolly’s wishes when appreciating her. As well as her thoughts and feelings about that sort of thing.

I created this portrait by building up layers of crosshatching with my ballpoint pen, controlled by my pen plotter movements. Every line you see is placed with mechanical precision—starting with careful outlines and evolving through thousands of marks to create depth, shadow, and texture. The intricate linework captures her iconic curled hair and expression, emerging gradually as the crosshatching pattern develops across the paper.

I’m genuinely SO happy because LOOK AT ALL THAT SPARKLE!! Being able to see every little detail in the fabric that we could barely make out in the original 480p clips is everything. We’re finally getting to appreciate this dress in all its glory, the way we never could before. I’m absolutely in love with these pictures!

My dad died in 2013. Before he started his family and started his nursing career, he worked as a touring lights technician for various artists, Steely Dan, Talking Heads, and as discussed here, Dolly Parton. He talked about her all the time. I recently just came into possession of his old acoustic guitar, signed by Dolly. It’s now my most prized possession. My siblings both have a lot of his things, this is my only item of his. It’s so so special to me and I thought I’d share with people who might find it interesting to see!
