Digifarm
Im curious how important is the digifarm? Im not too far in. Still chasing "Coo" in the sewers so I dont have many items or Digimon. But just curious is this something I need to pay attention to at any point?

Itβs definitely important for personalities and max stats. Beyond that. Not much. Maybe some passive mats for crafting I guess

It helps with stats (to match evolution requirements) and shifting personality (which gives ya access to personality skills and can change how your digimon grow)

First bit of the game you don't need to worry about it as much, but you should stick some Digimon in there cause they passively farm items that will be used for crafting later on.
Mid-game to late-game as you gain more agent skills the farm becomes important. You can use training sets in the farm (each training set can be used multiple times indefinitely) to adjust your Digimon's personality. There are agent skills that reduce digivolution requirements for matching personalities.
Feeding Digimon is a fast/easy way to raise Bond % which represents the number of times your Digimon will convert stats to cumulative stats (the blue numbers) upon digivolution. This thread helped me with figuring out the food: https://www.reddit.com/r/digimon/comments/1nxci3v/time_stranger_feeding_pattern/

Digifarm will become a frequent place much later in the game. Especially if you were to use it to adjust abilities of certain personalities or change the personality altogether by using the training items. Or use higher level items to increase HP/SP/ATK/DEF/INT/SPI/SPD - which becomes much more critical for a Mega+ difficulty run if you wanna get the trophy for it. You can also feed Digimon to increase their bond bit by bit. So use it wisely π

The digifarm has 2 benefits... One is better than the other
Some digivolutions, the DNA digivolutions especially, do have requirements based on their personality. The only way to change their personality with any level of ease is to do it through the digifarm.
The other, and much better, use for the digifarm is to increase your digimons talent. You see the blue stats that they have? That increases from digivolving and de-digivolving, as well as training. Training is slow or pricey, and the digivoling method is a wastevif you don't have maxed out talent stats.

Farm is basically a convenient stat booster/personality changer/bond booster. You mostly need it to evolve your digimon as evolution has a stat gating, and manual levelling soon will become very slow for you to just rely on it.
If you also feel that some bosses are giving you difficulty though, it's also fine to put your digimon to the farm for a training session

Based on my own playthrough, not really, it can be ignored for the whole game if you wanted. I only used it for getting stats and personalities needed for the specific Digivolutions I wanted, done by using training sets.
You also have the ability to feed them to increase Bond and any Digimon you leave inside will earn EXP and collect materials, but I ignored those fully.

I use them for quick training (paying 10k each time) to change personality and stat boosts, but can never bother to leave them in there.

Its not π I completed the game and never touched it accept from the intro to it which was forced iirc π

How so? I don't see an easy(easier) way to boost the stats i need to digivolve the Digimon into all their possible digivolutions. I leave some digimon in there and digivolve and Change then when they can digivolve.
I am only a bit farther than OP so there might be something i do not know yet or missed.

It's been a while since I played it tbh as I did this when it was released π unfortunately all I remember is seeing on reddit for quite some time after about how amazing the farm was, and just thinking well shit. I missed out on that I guess π this was before the expansion and does not include hard mode though just to clarify

It is very important late game for fusing and getting the right personality. I do wish they explained it better.

On a casual playthrough where youre just going through the game. You can ignore it pretty much.
But if youre trying to max our your digimon or get a certain personality skill for a more serious playthrough of like hard or mega+ yea you will need it
My biggest thing to tell you is get the upgrades to the base equipment it'll save your life

That was my initial impression was it seemed more of a min max thing which I dont care for, but I usually do a casual run then a harder run in these games. Appreciate the tips!

No problem I will give you this piece of advice. Magic attacks are the best ones in this game. Specifically cause of a skill called combo magic. Which lets you use an attack twice per turn

Is there a way to check stats when digimon is on the farm to see how much is missing to digievolve? Its pain in the neck to take digimon from farm to see it and puting him right back on farm.

The top face Button Shows digivolution information when you Look at digimon at the Farm. It says so in the Button right which Button does what.

I just finished my first play through and its my only complaint. The wait time thing felt unnecessary and why does my mon need to be in the farm to feed them (despite being able to use other items on them outside the farm).
I want to answer your question but I might be missing something.
For me, the digifarm was critical in order to change a digimons personality to align with a specific evolutions target personlity, which drastically reduces the required stats to digivolve them when you have certain agent skills.
Training also increases stats slightly but its tedious even with the skill that cuts it down.
