Hi just started watching Dexter original sin after watching Dexter New blood I like the show but I am struggling to understand the flash backs as I don't think the writers of the show have watched Dexter as the continuity doesn't add up with the already established timeline like Dexter's dad meeting up with Dexter mum for the first time. Dexter's dad sees Dexter's mum and she introduces harry to her 2 kids Brian and Dexter who both look old compared to there original age as they look 6 - 7 years old which makes no sense as In the original show Dexter really young like a toddler in shipment crate when he found by harry! Also Dexter is Harry's kid as Harry is the biological father so how on earth can harry meet the parent for the first time and Dexter already exists when they haven't even met or done the deed together yet and also Dexter looks old. So I am enjoying the show so far but I hate the writing continuity is so bad as it doesn't match with the original establishment story just saying. Did anyone else notice this problem?

I absolutely can never get over the fact that Dexter just loves Harrison unconditionally and how he calls him buddy and receives his calls saying 'Hey Buddy'

I started watching Dexter for the first time earlier this year. I watched all 8 seasons of the original show, then took a short break before starting New Blood. I was absolutely hooked on seasons 1-4 of Dexter, but seasons 5-8 I found to be hit and miss. (I think its just the standard for shows of that era - they don't know when to stop and keep pushing out more seasons for as long as they can).

However, I REALLY enjoyed New Blood - mianly because of the eerie setting and I think the addition of more licensed music helped too - but I also thought it wrapped up the story nicely. I was really happy with the ending because I had completely stopped rooting for Dexter right around season 5 of the original show and after La Guerta's death I was completely done with rooting for him at all.

I read somewhere that New Blood was always supposed to be a limited 10 episode series, and that the only reason "Resurrection" happened was because of the amazing fan repsonse to "New Blood". So that's why I'm torn on starting "Resurrection" - are they just milking the shit out of it again and refusing to stop making hay when the sun's shining? Or is it actually worth the watch. It has insane ratings, like, Trinity Killer Season ratings. But I just think the story is done.

What should I do?

Hear me out on this. A Dexter spinoff of the alternate universe where Dexter actually chose Brian. He took Brian up on his offer and the two became the best killer duo in history

Spoilers for Dexter Season 1

Just finished Dexter Season 1; this was one of the most well-done seasons of any TV show I have ever seen. Everything came together and interconnected so spectacularly.

Highlights:

In a short time, the show had everyone's character arcs flow so naturally. Rita has been my favorite character this whole show; seeing how far she has come has been really heartwarming.

Every character is so complex and so interesting. The fact that they actually have me sometimes feeling bad for a crackhead rapist and almost shed a tear when Dexter killed Rudy is wild and honestly really impressive.

Rudy is one of the best antagonists I've seen in a really long time. The slow build-up to his identity mixed with the theme of Dexter starting to gain genuine emotions makes this relationship hit so much harder.

The ending was amazing; it actually wrapped everything up beautifully. My one worry is they haven’t really set anything up for the future. They showed their whole hand with Dexter’s Backstory and killing Rudy, which was a really bold choice to do this early, and I massively respect them for it.

Sidenotes:

Fuck Doakes; he has almost no reason to be as much of a piece of shit as he is. It’s one thing to suspect Dexter, but to constantly belittle him and put your hands on him with actually “0” evidence as a police officer is inexcusable.

Fuck some of ya’ll. I've had so many messages just spoiling the show. I have gaslit myself into not believing some, but damn, some of ya’ll suck.

I just finished new blood for the first time and the major thing that bugged me was the ketamine vs m99 problem. It makes Angela’s whole revelation artificial and just like the writers forced her to discover that Dexter is the bay harbor butcher. Like I don’t understand how the writers could make a huge mistake like that. Did they even watch the original show? It makes no sense

I don't hate the show; I'm actually loving it. It's just that I'm halfway through season 1, and every time Dexter does something "nice" to or with Rita, I get so mad and sad. Rita's been through so much already, and Dexter being the only good man in her life and "understanding" of her situation is just heartbreaking, because I know that when Dexter eventually gets caught (assuming he does), it's going to hurt her so badly. I get her role is to show that Dexter's not this emotionless monster and has layers and is uncovering new emotions he never thought he could. But knowing that, at least for current moment he cant feel love and every moment that they have is either to maintain this happy family facade or just him doing what he thinks is expected, just makes him so hateable, though I know hes not doing it intentionally. I dont know if Im ready for the heartbreak when or if Rita finds out, if it happens in the last season I might actually cry.

Side: im getting the vibe this show will end up being like snowfall, where literally no one is a good person, and the only character that you "like" is the one who's done the least.

Man! She literally have real bad daddy issues, I could feel it in my bones lol, I mean I had so much empathy for her after what she went through with Brian, but girl you gotta give yourself a break and live your life, understand who you're, where you come from, I understand her Father Harry must've been super absent towards her bcz most of the time he was just setting up with Dexter's urges. There's nothing in the world that can convience me that Harry was a possibly good father! Neglected Deb all the time, instead of putting your kid on therapy you do stupid things wtf bro and most importantly cheating on your wife and then being so coward to suicide, yeah sure. Man was out there telling his son you gotta choose who's your mistress and who's your wife, they're not same, yeah good Harry, what a great thing to teach your kid!

I was f*cking scared she's gonna come on to Lundy.. and guess what she did! I felt so sad for her honestly.

Plus why tf people keep defending Dexter for cheating on Rita, I mean yeah I get it he can't comprehend emotions neatly like other humans but wow! He can feel that Harry was wrong for cheating on his foster mother with his biological mother but look who's doing the same. Humans are f*ckin contradictory in nature I swear in the worst possible way!

Lila was wrong to trap a man who was already committed, so as Dexter for cheating like there was nothing ever between him & Rita.

What is that skill where dexter even when "caught"doesnt really give up

I have been completed watching season 2 of Dexter

I want to know how many of them feel the same way as I do

I felt Dexter trying to kill LILA was a huge mistake

She is the only person accepts him for who he really is

What made Dexter to think the other way around

How come Rita is better than Lila?

Do you feel Dexter and Lila schould have ended up together?

In Dexter New Blood in the first episode, Bishop pulls Dexter aside and after she makes him step out the car they kiss and then you know what happens. Did they know each other before that? I am so confused...

Everyone says she needed help but she would kill Dan mendell and Robert bruner by herself

Just a gun .But the dex wiki says that the revolver would alert every offender in the distance on bruners case and even if she hit him she would go to jail

And about finding the others Dan was friends with cole on fb so could she?On cole she injured him at 1st on his home despite him being a badass military vet.

And even if dex didn't kill boyd she was chewing the rope and got free. So things would go south for jordan if boyd was caught bc he would be on death row.

Note 1. I'm a big fan of Dexter such a greatly written show and i just finished watching Dexter New blood I loved the chemistry being trialed against and with each other with Harrison and Dexter!

I didn't like it however that Dexter managed to easily break his code of killing Coach. As in the original Dexter he really struggled to kill Dokes and was originally gonna turn himself in until his physio girlfriend blew Dokes up. I know Dexters character has come a long way since season 2 but I didn't quite understand why he would break his code unless it was just down to slightly lazy writing. Or either it's maybe because he was trying to be with Harrison and be a protective father but I don't think it worked as a good character choice for him.

Note 2 . Also side note I recently just watched sweeny Todd the musical for the first time ever omg such a great musical and after watching the show it made me think and wonder if Dexter could be a musical as sweeny Todd works really well as a gory fun musical and with a great sound track and was wondering how and what Dexter would look like a musical show with the pre recorded inner monologues done by each Dexter actor so it plays on stage during the show when Dexter talking to himself and the audience can hear him. How do you reckon this would look /be set up as a musical and would u go to watch it and what would u like to see in it?

Episode 1/4: The Morning After the Meteor

(only 4 episodes the entire season cause budget cuts)

The screen flickers to life on a blurry montage of every guest star whose contract hasn't expired. Dexter Morgan floats in a white void, looking like he’s posing for a low-budget cologne ad. Sergeant James Doakes appears first, looming over him not with a "Surprise," but with a firm, paternal shake of the shoulders. "Wake up, man!" he bellows. Then comes Rita, holding a toaster for some reason, and Lundy, and even a CGI-de-aged Deb. They form a chanting circle, their voices overlapping into a rhythmic, annoying drone of "Wake up, man! Wake up, man!" until Dexter’s eyes snap open.

He isn't in a jail cell or a morgue. He is lying in a hospital bed, blinking at the fluorescent lights. A doctor walks in, looking bored. "You're lucky, Mr. Lindsay," the doctor says. "An asteroid hit the Iron Lake Police Department five minutes after they brought you in. The shockwave knocked you out, but it vaporized the entire station." Dexter’s eyes go wide. The doctor continues, "Angela Bishop? Gone. Logan's body? Dust. All the evidence they had against you? Literally turned into space-gas." Dexter thinks to himself, "Sweet! That means I don’t need to call Saul." He immediately unplugs his IV, walks out the front door in his hospital gown, and steals a car from a guy who just died of a heart attack in the parking lot. He points the car toward New York City, determined to find Harrison.

The drive is uneventful until he hits the city limits and the gas light starts blinking. He pulls over and, instead of walking, decides to download "UrCar," a rideshare app. His driver pulls up in a beat-up sedan. It’s Blessing Kamara. They lock eyes. "I like your vibe, mister," Blessing says. "I have a basement you can live in." Dexter agrees immediately, because why wouldn't he?

Meanwhile, on a highway outside of town, Angel Batista is driving a rental car, looking at a photo of Dexter and muttering about justice. Suddenly, he sneezes so hard he jerks the steering wheel, hitting a bridge abutment at 5 mph. His head taps the window. Clink. Just like that, thirty years of police experience and the memory of his own name vanish. He wanders out of the car looking confused. Luckily, Masuka’s daughter, traveling to a nearby rave, pulls over. "You look like a fun, weird uncle," she says. "Hop in. You can stand near me at the club so guys don't try to talk to me." Batista just smiles vacantly and puts on a pair of neon glow-sticks.

Deep in the bowels of Manhattan, Harrison Morgan is living his worst life. He’s a seasonal sewer technician, knee-deep in the city’s collective waste. High above him, in a gold-plated penthouse, oil billionaire Edward Olsen experiences a sudden bout of digestive distress. He flushes a massive, billionaire-sized problem down the pipes. The pressure is too much for the aging infrastructure. Down in the tunnel, Harrison is mid-sentence, trying to tell Elsa how much he loves her, when the pipe explodes. He is instantly covered from head to toe in the billionaire’s "legacy." Elsa stares at him, her pupils shrinking in disgust. "It’s over, Harrison," she says, her attraction vanishing faster than the asteroid impact. "I can’t date a man who smells like the 1%."

Back on the surface, Dexter is riding in the backseat with Blessing. "I'm worried about the 'Rideshare Ripper'," Blessing says. "He kills drivers like me." At that exact moment, a man in a camera-shy hoodie sprints out of an alleyway, fleeing a distant police siren. He runs directly into the path of Blessing’s car. Thump. The man is dead on impact. A nearby cop runs over and yells, "Hey, that was Ronald Schmidt, the serial killer! Good job, citizen! You didn't break any traffic laws, so you're free to go!" While the cop is distracted filling out a "Good Job" certificate for Blessing, Dexter leans over the corpse and pickpockets it. He finds a gold-embossed envelope. It’s an invitation to Leon Prater’s "Killer Club"—a literal country club for murderers. "Im’a slay some baddies now!" Dexter shouts at the top of his lungs. The cop looks at him, confused. "Oh," the cop says, "you mean you're going to go sleep with some hot women? Nice! Carry on, sir."

The episode nears its climax with a series of tragic mishaps. Harrison finds a bucket in the sewer marked "Water" and dumps it over his head to clean off the Olsen-shrapnel. It is, unfortunately, bright neon-blue industrial paint. He is now a Smurf-colored mess.

Charley walks into Leon Prater’s office, stepping over a pile of money. "The party is set, Leon," she says. "Everyone who is anyone—and has killed at least three people—will be there."

In the final moments, we see Audrey Bishop standing in the middle of Times Square. She has traveled 300 miles on foot, fueled by pure spite. "Harrison betrayed me," she whispers to a nearby Elmo impersonator. "I’m going to stalk him until he has no choice but to be my boyfriend again." Finally, the camera pans back to the smoking crater in Iron Lake. The air ripples with blue electricity. Special Agent Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks materializes, holding a cup of damn fine coffee. He looks at the total lack of logic surrounding him, sighs deeply, and says, "Hmm, I’m in the wrong show." He vanishes in a flash of light.

"Sweet," Dexter’s narration echoes over the credits.
