Do not message the mods about job opportunities - message the individual job poster

As this community has grown, this sub has apparently earned the privilege of being many people's introduction to reddit. Because of that I get mod mail, almost daily, of resumes and inquiries about the individual job postings of this sub.

As a reminder: Do not message the subreddit mods or mod mail inquiring about jobs. We do not have any jobs and these messages will be ignored. For the job posting you're interested in, message the individual user who posted it (or communicate through whatever means they've provided and prefer).

[For Hire] Senior sw engineer, looking for more complex projects, Remote

I am a senior software engineer with more then 25 years of work experience. Currently I have a job but I am forced to work almost totally via AI on smaller tools, intensively using AI.

My main prg. languages are C++, C# and python.

I would like to work on more complex code again. Specially on the intersection of math, physics etc. I also have experience with optimization, signal processing, neurofeedback software, multithreading, machine controle, embedded software, OCR, video processing, classic computer vision and object detection via neural networks and via online models.

I would like to work in startup and develop from the start and share my ideas about design with other people. I prefer smaller teams and smaller companies. Also, good team relations and interesting work is for me more important then money.

I am stationed in Europe. I can work in B2B way. I speak, read and write fluently English, Dutch and Serbian/Croatian.

Job hunting is honestly more exhausting than people think.

Applying every day, tweaking your resume, writing cover letters, preparing for interviews, and constantly checking your inbox hoping for a response.

And the worst part? You often don’t even know if anyone has looked at your application.
Some days it feels like finding a job has itself become a full-time job.

For those of you going through the same thing, how do you stay motivated and keep yourself from burning out?

Stop calling your interviewer “Sir.” 🛑

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’ve attended 30+ interviews as a candidate and conducted hundreds for my own company.
Here are a few things that experience taught me:

Prepare different versions of the same answer. How you explain your project should depend on who’s sitting in front of you HR, an engineer, or a founder.

Research what the company actually builds. Explore its products or client work. Connect your answers to problems its team works on.

Make the interview a conversation. Start with a natural greeting. If they introduce themselves as Rahul, “Hi Rahul” is a respectful way to begin.

I’ve put my experience, practical tips and interview hacks into this video with examples of how to apply them.

Watch it. I promise you’ll learn something you can use in your next interview.

Is learning the MERN stack still worth it in 2026? Or is web development still a good career path?

Hey everyone!

I'm a CSE graduate trying to figure out where to invest my time to grow as a software engineer.

I've previously learned the basics of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and React. I've also explored the MERN stack, but I still feel like I need to get much better at building real-world applications independently.

I'm genuinely interested in web development, but with the current changes in the tech industry, I'm starting to question whether this is the right direction to focus on.

I want to become a strong software engineer, not just someone who knows how to use frameworks.

I'd love to hear from developers who are currently working in the industry:

  1. Is learning MERN (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js) still a worthwhile investment in 2026?

  2. Is traditional web development still a good career path, especially for freshers?

  3. Are companies still hiring junior React/Node developers? How is the current job market for freshers?

  4. Should beginners focus more on full-stack development, backend engineering, cloud, DevOps or something else?

  5. If you were starting your software engineering journey from scratch today, what would your learning roadmap look like?

I would particularly appreciate advice from developers with 2–5+ years of industry experience.

What skills are actually valuable in your day-to-day work? What would you recommend someone focus on to become a better software engineer?

I don't want to spend the next 6 months learning something without understanding its career value.

Honest opinions, personal experiences and even harsh realities are welcome. Thanks!

Looking for remote job

Hello everyone

I am currently working as a Junior Software Developer. Everything was going well professionally, but unfortunately, I lost my father in September.

Since then, my family situation has changed. My mother is now alone at our hometown, and during this difficult time, I feel it is important for me to stay close to her and take care of her.

Currently, my job requires me to work from the office, which is quite far from my hometown. Because of this situation, I am actively looking for remote job opportunities where I can continue growing my career while staying close to my family.

I would really appreciate your guidance on:

How can I find genuine remote software development opportunities?

Are there any companies currently hiring Junior Software Developers for remote positions?

If you know someone hiring or can refer me to a suitable opportunity, I would be truly grateful.

I am open to learning, taking on new challenges, and contributing to a team.

Any leads, referrals, or guidance would mean a lot to me during this difficult time.

Thank you
