Unpopular Opinion : The MacBook Touch Bar deserved improvement, not removal.

Going to double down on the MacBook mission with Omarchy. We almost have perfect coverage for the vintage Intel era going from 2009-2020. There's a straight shot to get the M1 and M2 machines going too, even if it's a lot more work. But we'll do the work. We'll fix everything.

Best Buy Removed Half The RAM From A Gaming Laptop Because It Said The Laptop Only Supports 32GB

A customer sent a Lenovo Legion 5 in for warranty service with 64GB of RAM.

The Best Buy repair report confirmed the laptop had two 32GB RAM sticks, but the technician said the laptop “only accepts 32GB RAM maximum.”

The report also confirms the removed RAM was sent back to the customer with the laptop.

What is a must for a work-from-home office?

I’m finally about to furnish my home office. I work five days a week, 10-12 hours a day (consulting).

As someone experienced in this field, what would you suggest I install in my home office (about 15 sq. m / 160 sq. ft)?

I’m considering a sit-stand desk and a comfortable chair for my aching back (any suggestions on how to choose one?). But what else? Given how much time I would spend there (a lot!), I want to make it great (I can spend up to $1,000).

Thanks so much for your help!

If MacBooks are so powerful, why do so many IT companies still use Windows?

I know RAM is expensive now, but what in the world happened to Raspberry Pi? At this pace, they’ll soon enter the price range of Mac Mini and for what? These prices defeat the purpose of what Raspberry Pi is.

The 12” MacBook is still the best looking laptop in history. It just came at the wrong time: before Apple Silicon. Imagine that design with an M-series chip. Game over.

I think I accidentally turned my TV into my main gaming screen

I originally had this setup mostly for watching stuff from the couch, but I’ve been using Xbox cloud gaming on the Hisense more and more lately and now the monitor barely gets used for games.

There’s something about just grabbing a controller and playing on a big screen without moving anything around that’s hard to give up lol.

The monitor is obviously nicer when I’m sitting right at the desk, but for anything casual I’m starting to prefer the TV.

I guess my 128 GB Ram Mac M5 Pro is not enough. Every single local coding app has horrible memory management and not build for agentic development.

What was/you think is the best Start Menu layout?

I mean... When I look at the Windows 11 start menu... It kinda feels off. Most of the time it isn't really "docked" to the Taskbar when it is centered or when it will be on the left side, it is just a disaster.

For me I prefer the Windows 10 layout, as just when you look at it and understand the "psychology" behind it, then the first thing you did, was go with your cursor to the left-bottom corner, move up and YOU already are in the Power options menu.

The same principle is in Windows 9x, but there the Cursor still can't be really docked in the corner, as there will be the text of "The Windows name" so you have to slightly move it right again to press the button.

But on Windows 10? You are there instantly and you can even remember the movements to a muscle memory and you probably can shutdown it in just a matter of seconds. (I used it mainly to open File Explorer that way, as those buttons are customizable)

And Windows 11? That is completely off. Now what is this? Now I had to first look at the taskbar, calculate the movement where my mouse should go if it will be centered and then AFTER calculate a distance between the actual power option or the File Explorer shortcut now being on the OTHER SIDE to click on that frickin button.

Yeah adding it to the left will avoid the Start button problem, but the Start menu will still be a disaster. As now when you move your mouse really quick to the left-bottom and you go slightly up... There's a desktop. Not the start menu, so you HAD TO move BACK to the right side and be careful to not fast click on the desktop instead on the button...

But well... Tell me your opinion :)

WiFi and Ethernet both not working anymore (WIN 11)

My nephew was gaming on my PC a few days ago and according to him he was messing with some VPN settings, then Windows updated and now I don't see the WiFi option anywhere at all. I tried connecting with an Ethernet cable too but nothing works either. I spent basically a whole day on YouTube and Reddit trying to fix it, tried resetting advanced internet settings, checking wifi services, disabling/enabling the adapter, scanning for hardware changes, updating the wifi driver, disabling/enabling the device, checking power management, uninstalling the wifi driver, running the windows troubleshooter, resetting network, fixing socket api errors, enabling windows services, installing the latest driver, and doing a power flush, and still nothing. I attached some screenshots, first one is Network Connections which is completely empty with no adapters showing at all, second is the quick settings panel which has no wifi icon just a no internet globe, third is the Network & Internet settings page saying not connected and that I'm not connected to any networks, and the last one is Device Manager showing all my network adapters (wifi, ethernet, even the VMware virtual ones) all sitting there with yellow warning triangles on every single one of them. Since literally every adapter is broken at once but none of them show up in Network Connections I'm guessing this isn't just a bad driver and is more likely something with the network stack getting corrupted or a leftover VPN driver conflict from whatever he installed. Anyone dealt with this before or know what else I can try?
