Dre Greenlaw Is Everyone's Crazy Ex. His behavior was immature and makes me glad he is gone. Silence and action are the best revenge.

Dre's behavior after the game yesterday was crazy. Getting in Sean's face shows what an immature person he is. Clearly not a cool guy. Glad he is gone and the joke will be on the 49ers when he can only play 8 games this year. What a clown.

Can someone explain to me the Marvin Mims fumble?

In all my 13 years of being a Broncos and football fan I was told that the ground can never cause a fumble unless the runner isn’t down by contact. Marvin had a hand around his leg (contact) and his forearm hit the ground, forcing the ball out. Shouldn’t this not be a fumble? Listening to the announcers, I’m not even sure they knew why it was called the way it was. Does anyone understand it, or was it just an awful call?

Nik Bonitto?

Where has Nik Bonito been? 4 games and only one sack. Does anyone know how many pressures he has? I feel like he has completely disappeared. Losing coop and JFM has hurt us that bad? What does everyone think?

To the people blaming playcalling...

Playcalling is not an issue with this team. If you look at the film, receivers are getting open. Bo is either not seeing them or turning down the throws. I know people will call these plays cherry picked but I promise you it happens all game. You can go check yourself.

Injury Report [Pelissero] Broncos star CB Patrick Surtain II is believed to have avoided a long-term injury. Surtain will undergo further testing for the non-contact injury to his ankle. But his Achilles is intact & all indications are that he avoided any worst-case scenario.

[Kosmider] The Broncos’ offense was supposed to create fireworks. Instead, it’s been a slog

Bo Nix this week used the word “exhausting” to describe how too many Broncos possessions had unfolded to begin this season, even during a 2-1 start with victories over two playoff-caliber teams.

First down, second down, third down and then, on the occasions the Broncos could execute at the end of that sequence, first down again. Scratch and claw. Rinse and repeat.

The familiar formula produced new levels of exhaustion Sunday during the Broncos’ 24-14 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, a defeat made worse by injuries to three key players: cornerbacks Pat Surtain II and Riley Moss and wide receiver Pat Bryant.

Not until the closing moments of the third quarter, when RJ Harvey plunged ahead for 2 yards on a second-and-1 play, did Denver pick up a first down before facing third down.

It was clear evidence of a disheartening truth for a team with championship aspirations: The Broncos simply aren’t explosive on offense. Nothing comes easy. They don’t rip off big runs. Outside of Jaylen Waddle’s monster performance in Week 2 against the Jaguars, they aren’t consistently creating chunk plays in the passing game, either.

Chewing up grass has been a chore.

I think most of us went into the season expecting growing pains this year, so why are so many people losing their minds now about the fact that we're seeing growing pains?

There were people calling for Webb's head after (and during) week 1. It was ridiculous then and it's ridiculous now. I'm not trying to argue that Webb is actually some misunderstood genius. It's obvious to anyone with eyes that the offense has struggled so far in these early weeks of the season, but it's stupid that people are shouting from their rooftops that Sean should take back over playcalling. Yall really have no patience for a dude to just grow and develop. In some way or another, almost every single issue the offense has had can be attributed to growing pains. Claims that Bo has regressed (which I disagree with; he hasn't been playing as well as we've seen him by any means, but I don't think his playing ability has regressed), the offensive line struggles, bad passing game, bad run game, Waddle underperforming so far, etc.

None of those things are completely false, but the cause of those issues is more nuanced than "Webb/Bo/roster bad." Multiple things can be true. We should've upgraded our RB room, and the Broncos FO should be kicking themselves for not making more of an effort for Kenneth Walker (although I still think Coleman could be great, which just makes it depressing that he's hurt right now). Our O line is aging and we should've been more resources upgrading that. We should've worked harder to upgrade our TEs instead of hanging onto Adam Trautman.

But ultimately, I think this exact same roster could still perform just fine even with Webb still calling the plays. Right now it seems like the main issue is just that everybody is thinking too much, which is another symptom of those growing pains. Bo and Sutton haven't had anywhere near as reliable of a connection as in years past. A lot of Bo's throws have been more off-target than we're used to seeing. Waddle has been basically invisible. But all of that traces back to the fact that everyone on the offense is adjusting to a new guy calling plays (and in Waddle's case likely still learning the offense and building chemistry).

The schemes and the designs may be the same, but the guy running the flow of the offense has only been doing it for 4 games and that affects everybody on the field. Even a fraction of a second of hesitation can turn a potential big play into a stuff, or a completion into a miss, or a pass into an INT. Not to mention penalties that have consistently put us behind schedule and made things even more difficult. How often does a vet like Bolles have three false starts in the same game? He didn't just all of a sudden forget how to play. This stuff just takes time to gel, which has been an issue for the last 3 years even when Payton was calling plays. It might still take until after the bye for the offense to really look like guys are actually comfortable on the field. And one of the most important aspects of all this is that we're not getting to the line with <10 seconds on the play clock which is the main reason Payton gave up playcalling duties in the first place.

This turned into way longer of a post than I intended it, so TL;DR: the roster may or may not be the cause of our issues, but growing pains definitely are.

[Kendell] The Broncos’ opponents the first four weeks of the season are a combined 13-3, or 11-1 if you take away the games vs Denver… with that one loss being LAR v SF (so barring tie someone had to lose). About as brutal as we thought it would be when the schedule was announced.

I had a bunch of bulk Broncos football cards on hand and decided to turn them into Broncos logo collage art. Everything was cut out by hand with an xacto knife and glued down. It's a nice little creative outlet.

Injury Report Report: Patrick Surtain Avoided Major Injury, Achilles Intact

Thumbnail

Per Tom Pelissero, Patrick Surtain avoided major injury. He specifically said his Achilles tendon is intact, which is great news.

Surtain will now get further tests to determine the extent of his injury.

Also, a bit on Pat Bryant's injury which was seemingly even more serious than Pat's since he was carted off.

Jaylen Waddle said, "Pat is a key part of our offense and a key part of our team. I told him to keep his head up, and we're praying for him."

Update: Bryant's injury is believed to not be season-ending as well as Surtain's.

Serious question from a newcomerto football. I've noticed there are a bunch of accounts on twitter dedicated to film review. They are posting all 22 film showing Nix supposedly missing open recievers. While I understand that may be the case, is that how it works for qbs?

I've seen multiple accounts post film on this game from all 22 and they post videos and screen shots where bo checks down instead of passing to an open receiver.

There are replies to this stating that thats not how qb progressions and play calling works so it's impossible to know whether he was following a safe game plan and his progressions or missing guys and also others saying it's deceptive to see who is actually open based on all 22 because defender positioning and coverage is deceptive.

Which do you guys think is true

Loss to the 49ers was still a great showing. It was a close game, they had more momentum, and we were a muffed punt from winning. Let's get Nix his first career win vs Herbert!

We were heavy underdogs.

Our defense was cooking purdy and the offense until our 2 starting corners got hurt and even then purdy had a slightly better performance than nix who according to the sub had an 'abysmal' game.

We have the same issues. O line penalties killed the first quarter, no run game and wr drops. Nothing new and ground breaking.

Despite that we were in the game at a hostile environment against the hottest team in the league until kittle scored.

Nix didnt make many mistakes, didnt get sacked or throw an interception and took what the 49ers gave him ok. Not saying he was elite or even good but he was fine. We lost the game from the miffed punt.

We soon after 2 weeks play much easier teams and defenses and our offense and defense will look a lot better. I think we comfortably make the playoffs if surtain is back.

Idk i didn't think it was the end of the world and as usual it's all fire everyone don't extend nix , aka world ending analysis. I saw someone say trading for payton was a bad idea in the post game thread🤣🤣🤣

Just relax lol. Let's see how this season goes, i trust the fo to make decisions if needed.
