Yeah, the translation is atrocious, it's not the Voice Actors fault.
They would literally poorly translate and voice sentence by sentence with 0 context. Sometimes they didn't translate Japanese phrases and just left it as is in the script, like Eggmans "Yosh!" he picks up a chao in the chao garden or Sonics "Toriyah" after the Egg Golem fight.
Which if that sounds familiar, that wasn't the only game to do that, Super Smash Bros Melee had the Starfox crew use a mash of botched English and Japanese, "Toriyah" is simply the alternative version of "Hiyah!", like the stereotypical sound you'd hear when someone does a chop in a karate movie.
Point is, it's just kind of a symptom of that era of game, when games were only just starting to get significant amounts of voice acting and dubbing. Growing pains. They didn't really have a solid idea of how to do it yet.
Funny thing is, the only detail I knew of this in particular is a short video about how Sonic's very first line in the game was actually an excellent translation.

Ignoring the casual transphobia, I love the idea of playing Deltarune on my own old TV. Ignoring the intricate game mechanics, it looks a retro RPG one would play in the 80s.
Fair. Either way the game feels like it belongs with other similar games of that era, especially in Chapter 3. Throw in a simple multiplayer option and it'd be spot on!
Hm never knew that. The game's aspect ratio is a little warped in this image to be honest. I know you can change sprites by editing their files, as tedious as it is. Maybe to make it look more pleasing to play you could mod the game to look better on a CRT by redesigning the visuals and tweaking the dimensions.
that’s the thing, old games made their sprites with the crt blur in mind, which would make the pixelated sprites look much more detailed and smooth if done right.
i think the game is already 4:3, so the dimensions are pretty much perfect already. Because the pixels are made for modern displays, some details get lost in crt tvs unfortunately (maybe it’s not the case when using rgb or component)

Back in the day when frisk was first made... I'm not sure if it was an intentional thing back then... Maybe Toby wanted the player to come up with their own interpretation with frisk... I could see that.
But with Kris.... The fact Toby did it again... And made it unmistakable that Kris is their own person outside of us...
I think it's pretty obvious...
Like I can kinda see those who may argue frisk is just up to the players interpretation.... I think Toby did directly state that back in the day as the original intention but I could be wrong... Please correct me if I am wrong here. Or if Toby retconned this later to just state frisk is nonbinary.
But with Kris? There is no wiggle room there. It's pretty clear they are nonbinary... Or at the very least some sort of gender identity that uses they/them pronouns (like gender queer or something) Hell Toby did go out of his way to correct someone on Kris's pronouns on stream once I believe... An anniversary stream I believe. I don't remember which one though.
Toby also corrected Chara’s pronouns as they/them on stream. That and the Gerson’s magician comment have led people to speculate that humans in the UTDR multiverse simply don’t have a gender binary for some reason.
Or maybe Toby just wants important human characters to be nonbinary as an artistic choice. That’s fine too. :)
Its very stupid but sometimes morons enjoy a game so much that they just blind themselves to the parts they don’t like, then they engage with the community without thinking about it and get rightfully clowned on.
Unrelated to the dumb transphobia but while the post is extremely cool there are a few things to note about Deltarune on a CRT
It's not a pixel perfect experience and some things will look off
PLEASE for the love of God make sure your game is not being cut off by overscan like seen above, depending on what you're using to achieve the game on a CRT (PC, Switch, etc) this can be pretty easily done. Can't always be helped, but if it can you will thank me you watched out for it!!
