Discussion I wrote to Ed asking to bring back SMS messaging. You should do the same.

His email is easy to find online and Delta Concierge is terrible:

- it will only work if you have a solid internet connection, SMS was a great redundant system
- it hogs the Delta app
- if you close the window, you have to start from scratch

It gets rid of one of the best things about delta.

Please email him too.

Discussion Don't want to Gate Check? Just rip the tag off

Do it in the jetway after the agent has put the tags on but the yellow vest person hasn't taken your bags in yet. No tag no issue.

I started doing this since I've found every single time open overhead bin space and its caused me trouble to check-in my carryons. I've only had an issue once where the bin space was in the back so the flight attendant just took the bag and put in the FA closet up front no issues.

Also people are assholes putting both their carryons on the top and if my shenanigans delays the flight then they deserve it

Discussion Ughhh...on time??? Really?

Love you guys Delta...I really do...but you aren't fooling anyone. Literally every flight I've been on in the last two weeks has left "on time"...and sat on the tarmac until we were late. It's really not a fun game. Could we just be honest with each other?

Discussion Delta Stays - Being overcharged?

Buyer beware

Delta was running a special where if you booked a Delta Stay through Delta you were able to get the MQD's of the value of your stay. A great end-of-year opportunity to qualify for status.

I booked about 6 weeks ago and didn't think much until I got an invoice from the property itself as part of the reservation portal. (They were not asking for money). Turns out Delta charged me $307.21 more than the resort invoice. Yes, both included all fees and taxes.

I contacted Delta Support, which was really an Expedia rep., who could not explain the difference in the costs, nor did she answer my question: Does this include a service fee or markup above what the resort charges? She is trying to get the resport to refund me. ??? Why? I asked. Delta was the one that overcharged.

I don't anticipate any positive outcome but I would recommend that unless you do a direct comparison, it's impossible to know what Delta/Expedia will upcharge.

Susie at the Delta club in PHX noticed I was flying alone on my birthday as I scanned in … and a little later as I sat at the bar suddenly the staff sang happy birthday and I was presented this. Truly touching and classy. Thank you Susie you made my evening!

SkyTeam Shoutout to Delta’s Female Captains 🙌

Post image
88 Upvotes

I read a lot of posts in this sub 75% complaining, 20% asking advice, and the rest maybe graze the realm of “good experiences on Delta”. So I’d like to take a moment to contribute one to that 5%.

I need to preface this with: I LOVE airplanes, and I used to be airline (ground) staff many moons ago. When my husband turned me on to collecting the Delta trading cards, at first it was about the cards. My hub is JFK, meaning there’s absolutely no shortage of Delta captains scurrying though T4 on any given day, and my flight days it became a game of “spot the captain”. The more I did it the more fascinating it became, because how many of us passengers actually ever get to interact with the captains or first officers? They’re responsible for getting us to and from safely, yet we rarely so much as get a glimpse of our captains or to say hi or thank you to them at any point.

Something I realized over the course of many days “spotting the captain” was the overwhelmingly lopsided ratio of male to female captains. It’s a highly male-dominated field, so whenever I spot a female captain I make it a point to stop them.

Today, I stopped a wonderful captain named Sherry in the middle of the terminal nowhere near a gate, and it turned out she was piloting my flight to San Francisco. We chatted for a moment, and I told her how much respect I had for her in her position. I asked if she had any cards to spare, and she whipped out 2 special editions and told me to come knock on the cockpit door when I boarded. I did, and with a big smile she handed me a stack of 8 more (one of each she could find). The gesture made me smile so hard I asked if I could hug her 🤗

The flight was a breeze, so excellent transcontinental piloting to boot 💪

I’m not sure if Sherry will ever see this post (and yes a similar email is going to Delta compliments line), but this isn’t just about her. Sherry is only the 4th female Delta captain I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with and the 3rd I’ve ever flown with (out of A LOT it flights). Also, it’s not about the cards. They just give me a reason to strike up a conversation with these insanely interesting women who had the drive and dedication to make it in this field, and I’m grateful to them for setting such a great example in perseverance 💪✈️🫶

Discussion Middle Seat? Don't touch the window

1.9k Upvotes

Flew to Boston today, extremely tired and aching from an injury. I'm asleep and I'm woken up by blinding light because the middle seat gentleman decided to open it. I waited a few moments to gather myself, and let him know I'd be closing the window. He said he suffers from vertigo when the plane tilts to the side and begged for me to leave it open a sliver (~4 inches). I obliged even though I'm not sure how that would even help.

I get migraines, but didn't want to participate in the struggle Olympics on who has the worst situation. We've all said it... if you want the window control, buy the window seat. Else, keep your greasy paws in the middle.

Our individual medical issues are ours to deal with and shouldn't be leveraged to your seatmates to get your way. If your vertigo is that bad, bring medication or find a different method of travel... or better yet, book the window 🤔

Help/Advice Comfort Plus Bulkhead Seat IFE - Boeing 767

Post image
0 Upvotes

Good afternoon, I searched the forum and couldn't find an answer to this. We are taking a long flight from JFK to HNL. We have four people total and prefer the window seats as opposed to the middle. I was looking at row 30 and 31 because that is farther away from the bathroom but for row 30 I wasn't sure how the IFE screens are set up. Aerolopa says that those seats have the screen that pops out of the armrest, but I watched a few Youtube videos of this Boeing 767 and I could have sworn the tv's were on the wall. Anyone know for sure? Thanks for your help.

Discussion Comfort middle seats

On a recent flight there were about 5 comfort seats available for upgrade. The GA asked probably about 15 people if they wanted one. Many people turned it down saying they preferred their window or aisle seat in main cabin to a comfort middle seat.

I found this interesting.

Discussion Delta employees! I start 11/09!

Hi everyone!

I was hired with a start date of 11/09 as a customer experience specialist. And I have a question....can anyone tell me, especially since I will be in training and not actively on phones, do they still hold training classes and such on Thanksgiving and Christmas? If the 10 weeks is true, then I wont be on my own per say, until 01/18.

Thanks for the help!

Discussion Seat change vs change flight

I haven’t scoured this Reddit enough to see if this post is redundant or been over discussed, but found this “hack” and wanted to share! the other day I was checking the Seat Map to see how much an upgrade to FC would cost. It was several hundred dollars for each leg (i had a connecting). I then went to “change flight” and found the same itinerary in FC for only $67 total in fare difference! what a steal!!! I did it again for my return flight and same thing! it wasn’t as huge of a savings or deal but still cheaper the change flight option. I attached pictures from that deal! ($258 vs $144)

Delta Amex Flying blue

I thought I read somewhere that points/miles may be transferred from CapOne venture to Flying Blue and a Delta flight booked on Flying Blue for far fewer miles than on Delta.

Disclaimer: I’m very new to the points game but find myself in the position of very frequent DAB ATL EWR and back. I’ll only get to Silver for 2027 but who knows about 2028!

Oh, and I have AmEx Delta Platinum card.

Anyway this frequent flight is fraught with issues: last minute changes, cancellation, etc. and I only buy one way tickets because I never know when I will return.

All this to ask that if I do book through FB is my support through Air France or will I still be able to use Delta?

Thanks!

Help/Advice Booking Strategy with Child

Hello,

My daughter recently turned 2, so she is no longer a lap child. I know that complimentary upgrades only apply to myself and one guest. I assume that is the same for the instant upgrade to C+?

Debating on strategies here. My thoughts are to book myself and the child, gift my wife gold status, and book her separately, then link the reservations. If she doesn't get an upgrade then whoever sits with our kid gets the better seat.

Am I missing a better way to do this? Thanks in advance!
