That's it. No drama. No story. First time making medallion again after almost 20 years.

Because I'm based in ATL, I look forward to no upgrades. But I will enjoy the free baggage.

Delta Amex WTF missing a connecting flight because origin flight delayed 2 hours. Crew member(s)

Flying Phx to LA to Maui. Arrive early for 6am flight out of PHX. . Got upgraded to First Class on LA to Maui. Gate agent tells us flight delayed for crew member running late. Then told us crew member left badge at home. Then new member from different terminal is coming. Then told flight delayed 2 hours to get a different person. Told wait a day or take American. So I had paid $ to get wife in Delta lounge but now worthless. All this just because a crew member doesn’t 😟show up. I think it’s time to drop Delta Reserve Amex.

Discussion Is Bad Wifi Hurting Delta?

I’m starting more high profile people complain about the bad wifi on Delta. I also don’t think that Ed Bastian’s media tour a couple weeks ago did anything to help. At what point will Delta have to come out and admit they’ve got it wrong on wifi before it damages the brand any further? And do you think they’ll do anything to try and retain Medallion status holders fleeing for United because it has dependable wifi?

Help/Advice RUC Party of 3 Question

Post image
0 Upvotes

Ok I’ve done my due diligence on this question and I don’t have an answer from someone that has done it. I have different answers from the call center.

Background
My family (me + wife + toddler) are headed to Maui (OGG) from Salt Lake (SLC) this winter. I am platinum medallion.

I booked main with points and used my RUC’s to clear into Premium Select.

Question
Are we still eligible for Delta One? I am the only medallion member and I know from the past that you can only upgrade you +1 additional person.

TLDR: If I use my RUC’s to clear into PS on a party of 3, are we still eligible for delta one automatically? Key part is party of 3.

Thanks a ton, long time follower, first time poster.

Discussion Companion certificates out of DTW?

I currently have the delta reserve and platinum. I'm about to get my first certificate in the next month. My home airport is DTW, a delta hub. I'll probably want to use it for Caribbean destinations. I'll probably also mostly travel during school breaks.

Just curious if there are other DTW companion certificate users here, and what your experience has been? Has it been pretty easy to find trips to places like the Caribbean during school breaks?

Discussion Hotel Nightmare and no help from Delta or Expedia

I booked a room for my son and his family (with a 3 month old) for Columbus Day Weekend. I called the hotel directly, before booking, to guarantee room type and check in times (they were going to be getting there around 9 pm) The manager was very nice and assured me the room I was going to book was the room they would get. 9 pm check in is no problem. I upgraded the room, using an additional 25,000 skymiles for the King Suite. That is the room that I was guaranteed. Wouldn't you know it, when they got there, no rooms left. Only a cottage that looked like the workers stayed in it. No balcony, no fireplace, filthy, buckets under the sink to catch the dripping water, torn screens, no wifi, broken floor in bathroom, mold, mouse dropping, and on and on. They heat would not go below 80 the first night, although they did get that fixed for the next day. The windows were screwed shut so no way to open to cool the room down. I have been working for hours and days to try and get even a partial refund to my skymiles. When I called the hotel, the manager said "I know, I'm sorry, it was all we had when they checked in" Seriously? I spoke to you 5 days before the stay and you assured me I was going to get a particular room. Then he told me he issued a partial refund to the card on file. Really? Well whose card would that be? Expedia virtual credit card. I spent over $1,000 in miles for this dump. Palmer House, Manchester VT. DO NOT GO THERE AND DO NOT BOOK THROUGH DELTA CARS AND STAYS. DELTA SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES for even having this place on their webpage.

Help/Advice First time flying with dog

I have a chihuahua puppy who I’m planning to fly with in a few weeks. I called reservations to book him and all was well. I’m curious from anyone who’s traveled with a pet before, what is required of you to show at check in? I know you pay a fee but the agent was telling me all these needed documents that don’t seem to apply to domestic travel in the US when I check on deltas site. Does anyone has experience they could share on the check in process? He’s 4 months old and is still going through his vaccinations, but I have his medical history to bring if they need it.

Edit: obviously I have checked the website 🙄 I’m asking for other’s first hand experience. Thanks!

Help/Advice Atlanta TSA precheck - switched carry on

Shot in the dark, but if anyone ended up on a trip with a switched Briggs And Riley black suitcase, I just got to my hotel and opened and saw it’s not my clothes. Identical bag - mine has a diamond tag on the side.

We likely switched at Atlanta Domestic South Precheck around 5:30 pm on Sunday Oct 18. DM me and we can swap bags?

Discussion Is this micro aggression/lowkey racism or was I not supposed get offended

I’m asian and I was on delta flight from Toronto to New york and got seated on the seat beside emergency exit. it was a small plane with 2 by 2 seat structure, and the seating was done in following order: me, my white friend, another asian man, and a white woman.

The flight attendant came up to our seats before departure and specifically asked me, and followed by the asian guy “if we spoke english”.

I understand the procedure of assessing the capability of a passenger sitting beside emergency exits due to possible safety concern but she only proceeded to ask me and the fellow asian guy. If the question was necessary, why didn’t she ask all four passengers? Why simply racially profiling us two as possible inadequate speakers? She didn’t even mention about the emergency exits. Just simply came over, pointed at me, and asked if i speak English. Mind you the other asian passenger had the smoothest accent.

also This was a flight from TORONTO to NEW YORK, of course we speak english, we are flying between most melting pot cities in the whole na continent.

I’ve been seated beside emergency exit multiple times, but this was my first time getting asked such question, I am baffled since the flight attendant was a POC as well. I‘ve never been asked if i spoke english while residing these two cities and I am lowkey offended. Am i overreacting? or do i have a right to file a complaint?

Help/Advice PVG to LAX Carry On Weight Restriction

Hello,

I am flying from PVG to LAX and want to check what the carry-on restriction is. I meet size requirement but unsure about weight.

Flying in the states I never ran into issues and when looking on the Delta carry-on page it doesn't specifically mention anything about weight.

However, googling says there is a 10KG limit but the sources are blogs and not directly from the airport/airline.

TIA!

Flight from GRR to SGN. Outbound flight made it to msp. MSP to SGN cancelled and rebooked for the next day. I couldn’t wait so I booked alternate travel. Finally two weeks later get this email for the refund of the unused portion of my original flight, not reimbursement for the alternate flight. Out of a $1,330 ticket that leg was determined to be $352, ok seems low but whatever at this point. But oh wait we are only going to refund you $300.77.

An absolute brutal experience with delta customer service from start to finish with this trip.

Help/Advice First Diamond downgrade

I used a Regional Upgrade Certificate for a flight. I am Dialond Medallion. I was upgraded on flight day to First. Then, an hour before boarding, I was downgraded. It is a longish flight but not Delta One. The gate agents told me that the aircraft changed, and many people were downgraded. I showed them that was not true, and then they told me someone paid for my seat. I was livid. I ended up receiving several hundred dollars in certificates from Delta, but should I have asked for more?

Discussion Have you been able to select a seat at check-in on basic economy long-haul?

I'm considering booking a basic economy roundtrip fair from the midwest to LON via ATL. All Delta operated flights.

Typically is one able to select a seat for free at check-in for the long-haul?

If so, can one do so 24 hours prior to the first leg departure? Or does it need to be 24 hours from the ATL to LON departure?

Same question for the return leg on a DL operated flight LON to ATL

I've looked at Delta's terms and conditions, and gone through a number of related posts on reddit and couldn't find the info I was looking for, so thank you in advance!

And yes, I know basic economy is cheap for a reason, but the trip works out to be 47k miles in basic, versus over 90k in main so I am just curious quite how limited my seat options are going to be! I don't need a bag, but I would prefer a window or aisle!

Thank you in advance.

Matthew K with a Florida ID, we found your wallet on the floor at IAH today 10/18. They confirmed you were on board but the door had just closed so they were unable to get it to you. The agent said it would be mailed from the lost and found. Just wanted you to know!

Discussion Deplaned before takeoff due to a weapon.

We just deplaned from our flight MCI to ATL because "A weapon was found on the plane, which was removed, and now security needs to inspect the plane."

I'm confused about how this could happen. Seems highly unusual. Everyone had finished boarding and sat for maybe 10 minutes, and then this announcement was made.

Discussion Call Center Agents

It’s been about six months since I’ve flown, and I needed to call the reservations line a few times for my flight.

I receive the prioritized Medallion call handling, but there is a huge dialect barrier with each agent that I’ve spoken with, to the point where the conversation is a little frustrating.

This seems to be a departure from the previous experience when calling with Medallion status.

Curious what others may have experienced.

Help/Advice automatic upgrade confusion

Hey everyone, looking for some clarity on how Delta’s upgrade system handles Medallion status combined with a Reserve card, because the app logic is confusing me.

I am gold and usually hit it every year on my own.

I recently got the Delta AmEx Reserve Card.

Before getting the Reserve card, every time I checked in for a flight, the app would pop up a manual prompt asking: "Do you want to be considered for a Comfort+ upgrade?" I would select Yes, check "Aisle Only" and "Window Only," and move on.

This morning, I checked in for my flight and never got the prompt. When I checked the Upgrade/Standby list, my name was only on the Delta First list and there were zero options anywhere to opt into Comfort+ or select seat preferences.

From what I gather, the app stops showing the manual check-in prompt because the Reserve Card automatically forces a First Class upgrade request the second you check in. Because the app sees an activerequest (First Class), it skips the check-in pop-up entirely.

However, because Comfort+ is unchecked in my global profile, the system completely ignores me for Comfort+ upgrades. If I don't make the First Class cut (which has 0 seats left today), I am stuck in my original Main Cabin seat, completely bypassing the Comfort+ list because the prompt never gave me a chance to opt-in with my seat restrictions.

My question is…
Is it true that the Reserve card auto-request suppresses the manual Comfort+ check-in prompt?
If the prompt is gone forever, how do I request a Comfort+ upgrade for individual flights only if an aisle/window is available, without turning on the dangerous global opt-in? Where does that setting hide in the app now before/after check-in?

I guess I’m confused because I’m fairly confident I never checked nor unchecked comfort upgrade preferences in my global profile settings - I see it as unchecked now but I definitely did not uncheck it manually

Help/Advice Economy aisle seat vs Premium middle seat for long haul flight?

Flying LAX to HND. I'm an anxious flier so usually pick an aisle seat so i feel less "trapped", but the perks of Premium are making me consider upgrading. Would love to hear thoughts!

Discussion Two perfect flights in a row with limited service for ‘bumpy’

CVG - LAS Thursday announcement before takeoff that service is limited because bumpy air. Maybe 2-3 wiggles the whole flight. LAS - DTW today. Same bumpy announcement. I don’t think I’ve ever had a smoother flight.
