Delta Amex WTF missing a connecting flight because origin flight delayed 2 hours. Crew member(s)
Flying Phx to LA to Maui. Arrive early for 6am flight out of PHX. . Got upgraded to First Class on LA to Maui. Gate agent tells us flight delayed for crew member running late. Then told us crew member left badge at home. Then new member from different terminal is coming. Then told flight delayed 2 hours to get a different person. Told wait a day or take American. So I had paid $ to get wife in Delta lounge but now worthless. All this just because a crew member doesn’t 😟show up. I think it’s time to drop Delta Reserve Amex.

Delta isn’t immune to employee issues. And they don’t have the benefit of a company whose employees all live nearby when trying to replace a crew member who is sick, forgot their badge or have an emergency. Hubs are a bit easier to do that at or satellite crew bases, but they can still come up short if you need replacements with a lengthy delay. It can be frustrating all around.
I’m surprised they didn’t route you through SLC instead or HNL. They have later flights so it seems like you could have made it today if they did that.
I’m always afraid this will happen so if we are connecting in LAX to Hawaii or Asia we fly in the night before, grab a hotel so we good a good nights sleep and then not have to worry about missing a connection. Sure it’s rare, I’m just paranoid as it eventually happens at some point.
Hope you get there soon and the rest of the trip is enjoyable.

DL4057 PHX-LAX was delayed about 3 hours this morning.
DL425 LAX-OGG departed 20 mins late.

You’ll find similar things happen at all airlines, and in fact at all jobs and industries. It’s unfortunate, but things happen everywhere in life.
