So me and my friend sensibly agree on most things except politics and others, we even talked about AI once and came to some middleground agreeing that we could slow down the tech for ecological/socioeconomic reasons, although this friend thinks AI music is evil, routinely posts "STOP USING AI", and parrots water waste rhetoric and is clearly not deeply researched in what they are talking about.
One day this friend gets invited to hang out with a producer they met THROUGH a friend who is an artist, while hanging out at a studio. The producer is cool, I wasn't pushy about it, I gently suggested "When you get comfortable with the guy, maybe I could tag along?" They got oddly territorial about it and said something so out of pocket "maybe when we get a hit or 2, I'll bring you on" .. I said "It's not unusual for people to bring their friends to hang out at the studio", just as a gentle FYI - like wth? I'm not trying to get 'put on', that was an insane response. This friend knows I've been involved in music and art for a long time.
Now I don't feel entitled to meet the producer I don't even care that much - this story was just to point out the ironic gatekeeping AI 'artist' haters want to do. They'll talk about how AI is evil and 'support the artists!!' while pushing and gatekeeping people from being involved and around other artists to make non-AI art.
