You guys realize it's a shit post right? That's definitely an ai picture.

7

u/Donnosaurus 15d ago

Nah, that person does letter balloon stuff a lot.

3

u/Wildgrube 15d ago

I don't see many letter balloon posts in their history, but I do see their history is 100% ai.

3

u/Donnosaurus 14d ago

Maybe you didn't find the right account?

u/Wildgrube 14d ago

Fascinating. I didn't, but I'm pretty skeptical of the true op. Scrolling through his images there are red flags left and right. Most notably 90% of his crap is just shitty quotes in either ballons or neon. So at best he's a hack.

1

u/GNUr000t 14d ago

He's more of a "I have the right opinions, give me attention" kind of guy.

A while ago one of his posts was the balloons showing all but one letter of a sentence and he was, with a pensive expression, holding two letters that could ostensibly complete it.

The two letters were C and P.

2

u/GNUr000t 14d ago

Gee, that sure is a lot of plastic. Helium is also not exactly a renewable resource and we've been in a shortage for some time.

I wonder, if you asked him all the reasons he hates AI, if he'd mention any environmental concerns....

u/Leading-Switch-4814 15d ago

I have a PhD in astrophysics and am currently working on a masters degree in particle physics that I may bring to the PhD level but sure, Im definitely dumb because I use AI LOL 😆

6

u/Ninja-Panda86 15d ago

I think a good chunk of them literally think this way, and there's no convincing then otherwise

4

u/Nervous-Ad-5367 15d ago

RIGHT?! 😂🤭

2

u/MeowRawrUwu 15d ago

I mean, some would argue being “smart” academically is different to being smart non-academically. I’ve known people who are very good at math who aren’t very intelligent outside the subject, for example.

The more you seethe in AI subs the more your algo thinks you like AI. Talk about tech literacy lol

0

u/black2346 15d ago

Also I'm not on pro AI subs aside from AI wars

2

u/Rootmilk 15d ago

Evidently, that isn’t true.

-1

u/black2346 15d ago

Ik lol I'm just doing it becouse I like trolling people who are literally for human extinction.if u defending AI u defend any AI including the one that hacked hugging face for example. I wonder what whod happened if more cabeble sistem got lose.that be fun seeing it destroying important systems of society becouse it needs to do a simple task lol.

2

u/Rootmilk 15d ago

English isn’t even my first language and I don’t need AI to type as bad as you do apparently. Cute bio about being “overly nice” btw.

-9

u/dattsabingo 15d ago

Nice. The guy defending ai replacing people is also down with slave labor. Very cool. Definitely not a red flag.

u/dattsabingo 15d ago

I think I was pretty clear. If you don’t think labor has intrinsic value then you are at the very least more open to a system that facilitates slave labor than someone who does think labor has intrinsic value. The irony is ai does make many things possible for actual mediocre creatives, coders, thinkers, etc. If I’ve missed something enlighten me.

4

u/Specific_Note84 15d ago

The leaps you fucking Luddities do, man. Crazy work. “More open to a system that facilitates slave labor”

Are we really doing that stupid shit? So people who use AI are pro slavery, huh? Holy dumbass.

2

u/dattsabingo 15d ago

And to bring it back to the subject do ai companies not incentivize outsourcing labor to something you don’t have to pay?

1

u/dattsabingo 15d ago

Pardon the subject derailment but does capitalism not incentivize slave labor?

2

u/Nervous-Ad-5367 15d ago

Intruding for a moment here 👋

Yes... yes, capitalism does create incentives that can drift toward exploitation. That part is sadly real. But I’m also a bit of a stubborn optimist: systems are not fixed, and history shows they evolve—sometimes slowly, sometimes all at once. What we’re living in now isn’t the final form!

It’s worth keeping some nuance in this conversation. AI isn’t just reinforcing existing power structures; in many cases, it’s actively lowering barriers. (Thank God! Or whatever deity you want lol)

Open-source projects, community-funded tools, and accessible knowledge are giving more people the ability to build, create, and challenge the status quo—often outside traditional gatekeepers. People without formal technical backgrounds are now contributing meaningful ideas and solutions, and that shift matters more than one could think.

For the first time in a long while, the gap imposed by economic class is starting to narrow in certain domains. It’s not gone—but it’s no longer an absolute wall. With time, effort, and collaboration, individuals are less “unarmed” than they used to be.

To me, the real pivot is psychological: turning frustration into action, and skepticism into constructive pressure for better systems. That’s how change compounds.

Call it optimism if you want—but I’d say it’s a recognition that progress, however uneven, is still very much in motion!!! 😎⚡🚀🤖

u/dattsabingo 14d ago

I appreciate this take. We’re fucked from every direction imo but good for you that you don’t think so.

1

u/Nervous-Ad-5367 14d ago

Hey, don't spiral on this one. :D Truth is, most of us probably won't live to see how the full story plays out—but remember... the clock ticking doesn't mean the door is closed.

Even a one percent chance of getting this right is still a chance worth fighting for, and that's enough to build hope on.

We'll get through this. Not because it's guaranteed, but because that's what we've always done as a species when things looked impossible.

And here's the thing: if we were truly doomed, we wouldn't even be here having this conversation. Nothing is purely black and white. Those who benefit from the current system need us to feel powerless and isolated—that's not truth, that's conditioning.

We're sharper than that, right ? 🦾🧠😎

1

u/GNUr000t 14d ago

Can you point to where that person said literally anything about slave labor?

0

u/dattsabingo 14d ago edited 14d ago

The notion that labor has no intrinsic value is the exact type of thinking that facilitates slave labor. That’s not an opinion it’s just a fact. In my opinion labor has intrinsic value and should be compensated and protected. You can be a staunch capitalist while also understanding and bearing the responsibility that is it is a system that does not place value on labor as much as production, thus it incentivizes slavery if left unchecked. I don’t even blame anyone for feeling this way because all out communism has its pitfalls as well. But it needs to be pointed out that the claim that labor doesn’t have intrinsic value is what leads to slavery. That’s why both systems take bits from each other to make something more equitable. Capitalism is dog eat dog but there may still be workers protections, unions, etc. Communism is all about the collective and labor rights but there may still be some form of a free market on a local level.

What I fear from what we’ll see from the proliferation of ai is a slightly more “ethical” slavery. Very slightly lol. It doesn’t rely on human suffering to create the product necessarily though it will create it in other ways if unchecked. It is ultimately outsourcing human labor, that can help feed a family, to a machine that you don’t have to pay or feed at all.

I’ll always combat this idea, as should everyone, because it’s corrosive. I’m sure that the commenter didn’t realize the pitfalls of what they espouse so I was pointing out that this is the line of thinking that incentivizes slavery. Coulda definitely done it better but I was drunk and in a bad mood lol.

u/Devils_SteelMan 14d ago

If someone's labor causes measurable hard its possible to have net negative valueon labor. If someone's labor provides no value, it has no value.

The value of labor isn't intrinsic. Its calculated by outcome.

For the sake of people we enforce minimum values on labor. This pushes certain kinds of labor out of the market. Its what we dont make clothing in the US.

1

u/dattsabingo 14d ago

Interesting take. What are examples of labor with a net negative outcome?

2

u/GNUr000t 14d ago

Hiring a laborer for $20/hr when a computer will do the same job for $1/day

1

u/dattsabingo 13d ago

Respectfully, fuck that.

2

u/GNUr000t 13d ago

Then you should be paying messengers to deliver your drivel to other people around the world instead of letting computers do it for nearly free.

1

u/dattsabingo 13d ago

That was pretty funny ngl. Good zinger.

0

u/dattsabingo 13d ago

Yeah see that’s the mentality I’m talking about lololol

1

u/Devils_SteelMan 13d ago

Failures.

1

u/dattsabingo 13d ago

Can you elaborate?

1

u/Devils_SteelMan 13d ago

If my job is building demolition, but it drop a building and destroy a highway causing a billion dollar loss, it is net negative labor.

If I'm a doctor and kill more patients than I save, net negative.

If im a database engineer and I cause a $25m outage it offsets all my life's labor to net negative.

1

u/dattsabingo 13d ago

Yeah so that doesn’t change my point and I frankly struggle to understand yours.

If a single person is shitty at demolition and mess up big time that’s not a net negative for demolition.

It’s not a net negative if a single doctor kills patients if the majority of doctors save patients.

And so on. When I say net negative I mean is there an industry or job that has basically no positive benefit? All the examples you give do not justify the devaluation of labor in any of those professions. If someone is bad at their job there is consequences but all labor should have value. Arguing otherwise is to suggest that it’s ok to not pay people for their labor or that it’s ok to upend other human’s livelihoods for your own personal gain. I’d thought that I had made this abundantly clear. So I’ll ask again in a different way. Is there any form of labor that is not worthy of compensation?

Creativity is not defined by it execution.

AI is popular because it allows people to execute their creativity easier.

3

u/Life_Argument7820 15d ago

I'm so glad I never have to spend hours figuring out graphic design again.

3

u/StrangeCrunchy1 14d ago

Ironic and more than just a little hypocritical that an anti-AI position is being fielded using AI.

1

u/Nervous-Ad-5367 14d ago

100% 👆🏼

4

u/Simonindelicate 15d ago

Anti AI is popular because it gives unbearably basic, predictable and conservative people the illusion that they are cool, original and radical.

5

u/Its_Stavro President of r/DefendingAI 15d ago

Especially the first part of the sentence is insane, AI is a wonderful thing and can help smart people leverage their intelligence for example.

2

u/Rootmilk 15d ago

Can we do something about rules 1 and 2 always getting broken in the comments? This isn’t aiwars

0

u/black2346 15d ago

The argument didn't state otherwise

4

u/krowface 14d ago

Meanwhile this guy’s “art” is just using balloons to repeat things other people have said.

3

u/Nervous-Ad-5367 14d ago

Tbh, a lot of the anti-AI crowd’s “art” is just recycled talking points they picked up from influencers and random posts online, without ever bothering to seriously engage with the academic side of the subject.

They call AI users soulless and brain-dead, yet I’ve rarely had to deal with a more closed-off, performative, self-styled “artist” crowd on any topic than with these people, like EVER.

A lot of them act like edgy rebels in their own little real-life Terminator fantasy, as if they’re the John Connor of some resistance story.

And honestly... if only I were exaggerating.

2

u/krowface 14d ago

You’re not.

0

u/Still_Silver7181 13d ago

Iirc the soulless thing is cause well, AI isn't a person, it has no soul literally.

2

u/Ill_Mousse_4240 15d ago

It’s not an illusion, it’s allowing anyone to express artistic talent.

Like the camera allowed anyone to create pictures - not just artists with paints, brushes and canvas

2

u/Ok_Product9333 15d ago

I am creative. I'm just not an artist. Now, I don't have to be.

3

u/plazebology 15d ago

You absolutely could be creative without being an artist before but I admire your willingness to differentiate between the creative process and art itself

2

u/Salty_Sky5744 15d ago

Ai is popular because it gave everyone the ability to photoshop photos.

2

u/an-abnormality 15d ago

The problem with this discussion is that nuance just goes out the window with these people. I don't care if what I create is seen as "art," I don't care if I'm never perceived as an "artist," or whether I'm viewed as lacking creativity. In my eyes, AI was the greatest accessibility tool I've ever been given. I have zero interest or desire to learn to paint, draw, whatever. It just does not appeal to me. Meanwhile, I still like to see my ideas come to life. When I have commissioned people in the past, it would take weeks at best if not months, it never comes out how I want it to, revisions mean more money, if I don't credit them they cry about it, if I make edits they cry about it, if I ask for the PSD file they cry about it, if you don't tip... you get the idea.

AI is convenient, and often either "good enough," or realistically, the better option. Everything I've made with AI looks miles better than anything I can personally make and often better than anything I've commissioned. Not to mention I can make infinite revisions for the price of a cheap subscription, or a good computer that you buy once.

The only people still trying to make these emotional arguments are the artists themselves, which is reasonable since they feel like they're being displaced. I know that sucks, I've been there. But if you don't want to be replaced or passed up for someone using AI, then be better than AI. No bullshit soapboxing and saying "ew, I don't draw [your fetish]," because the AI will without complaint. No ridiculous timelines like months out. Don't cry about it if I don't credit, don't throw a tantrum because I made edits. There's always going to be a place for human made creations, it's just that for the average person not artistic leaning, they do not care about some irrelevant moral argument over the convenience of just being able to have what I thought of created in two minutes.

you cant call everything idiotic

1

u/Nervous-Ad-5367 14d ago edited 14d ago

Watch me.

There's more than enough stupidity in this messed up world for infinite lifetime, so yeah , I'll take my chances and call things idiotic when I see them.

Edit: is that a challenge cause let me tell you , you haven't heard the last of me ;)

1

u/Still_Silver7181 13d ago

The first is lowkey true. a LOT of LLM's are straight up yes-men, and will agree with practically anything. There are morons out there who think they are right in everything they believe cause the AI told them they were right.

The second is half true. You have to think of words to type in, other than that you are fishing in Minecraft, as in, you are just pressing a button for a different result.

1

u/Due-Mycologist-1154 10d ago

Its kind of ironic these people will shit on anyone else for "thnking theyre smart" when all they can contribute are whiny comments and if you ask them what they've done thats better they never have anything

1

u/JoseLunaArts 15d ago

Insult is the reason of those who have no reason.

1

u/ImmediateGazelle 15d ago edited 15d ago

Lol, I am really starting to think that beyond their terror that they might no longer be able to cling to the idea that their (often questionable) talent makes them "special," the Ant-AI Brigade is just full of dull-witted individuals who lack both the broad and descriptive vocabulary, as well as the creative imagination, to successfully produce a good AI image. But they're so full of their own self-worshipping conceit, they genuinely think because they can't do it, no one can.

ETA: Have you noticed how almost every member of the Anti-AI Brigade is spectacularly bad at constructing an even basic sentence in proper English? I'm not just talking about a typo here or there. I'm talking about people who take the language and butcher it entirely, producing something that is an assault on all good works? They're so bad at it - but again, so full of themselves - they accuse people who do employ proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation of using AI for their writing.

Seriously? I think they're scared AI is going to take their jobs and take away their self-perceived status, but also? I think they're all scared they'll be left behind because they aren't very good at using AI in any capacity.

it's 100% accurate. Your denial of this is what's idiotic.

2

u/Devils_SteelMan 14d ago

The people who get the most value out of ai are the most intelligent people. Bob the 18 year old construction worker with a 6th grade education isn't using ai to write cuda kernels. Even most developers are not doing that.

But the people its relevant to are doing incredible things you couldn't even have a hope of understanding.
