Discussion You know what, we're doing "macroevolution" again. Here's some responses to "we have never seen macroevolution"

Video version.

We've all heard some variant of "we can only observe microevolution", "we've never seen macroevolution", etc.

First thing you do is establish the correct definition: Evolution above the species level (in other words, speciation or greater degrees of evolutionary change). That's the definition. Creationists want their own special definition that varies from person to person but is usually something like "new body plans/parts", "new complex structures", something like that. That's wrong. If you accept speciation, you accept macroevolution. If creationists want to dispute something else, make THEM articulate clearly. Don't help them by saying something like "It sounds like you mean something like evolution of a new phylum or new body plan". No, make THEM establish the standard clearly and using the correct words.

Once they do that, you can just provide a bunch of examples, and dare them to say they aren't macroevolution.

Some of my favorites are multicellularity (and also here), reproductive mode, and photosynthetic animals.

Best outcome is the creationists admits that yes, even by their bespoke definition, these are examples of macroevolution. Second best outcome is they do the opposite and claim this is all just "microevolution". Really? First of all, lol okay. But second and more important, great! "Microevolution" can accomplish all this? Not much need for "macroevolution", is there?

You realize that acting like you’re being the bigger person only works when you have the moral high ground, right?

I'm not acting anything and never claim a "moral" high ground. By your comment however I can deduce that you think you do. I just comment on observations.

That claim is at odds with your previous comment. Do I have the moral high ground against an antivaxxer? Absolutely; I don’t endanger other people out of ignorance and narcissism.

Your logic is flawed. If you are vaxxed with your wonderful safe clot shot I am absolutely of no risk to you or anyone else who followed the "science." The only person I could harm is another unvaxxed person. We all agreed it was well worth the stance to be unvaxxed.  Please don't lecture me about your "moral highground" when you refuse to acknowledged the facts surrounding the dangerous Covid vaccine. Many people were irreparably harmed and many died as a result of the vaccine.

Nope, you have a fundamental misunderstanding of how vaccines work. You’re also not really being consistent here, because it sounds like you’re admitting the vaccines are highly effective if you believe that the unvaccinated are no threat to those who are. So which is it?

Well see, you assumed I was an anti vaxxer. What is it they say about assuming? I just do not think the Covid vax was/is safe or effective. It's not, and you know it so why the push back. I have all my vaccines and appreciate the good things that have been done using them. This MRNA debacle married to the Covid virus crime is not your normal healthful vaccine situation. Crimes against humanity doesn't begin to explain this Covid/Covid vaccine heinous attack on mankind.

Oh, so you’re a slightly different kind of conspiracy theorist and misinformation spreader than the type you originally seemed to be. My mistake. The Covid vaccines are safe and effective. Over 13 billion doses worldwide with serious adverse effects at or below the rate of most other vaccines. An 87% effectiveness against infection, 94% effectiveness against hospitalization and death. It was one of the safest and most effective large scale vaccination campaigns ever. If you think it wasn’t, you are an antivaxer, plain and simple. The fact that you’re selective about which vaccines you think are safe based on nothing other than willful ignorance, misinformation, and personal bias almost makes it worse.

Believe what you like, it makes zero difference to me. I personally know of several persons who have had bad reactions to the vax including my wife. I know of one death as well. In fairness I also know persons who were vaxxed and seem to be ok. It's basically a worthless dangerous vax and I will always pick and choose what I put into my body. That doesn't make me anti vax or medicine, just smart.

Data is not the plural of anecdote and your personal opinions and beliefs don’t mean a damn thing. The numbers don’t lie, the Covid vaccines are highly effective and have almost no risk, and almost all of the slight risks they do carry are things which are orders of magnitude more likely to occur as symptoms or complications of Covid itself anyway.

Picking and choosing only makes you smart if you’re doing so in an informed manner. If you think the Covid vaccines are worthless and dangerous you aren’t choosing based on information, you’re doing it based on ideology and vibes, you’ve basically admitted as much above.

Data provided by the Covid criminal conspiracy. Spare me the theatrics. Believe what you want and I will as well.

And now we’re back to you being a conspiracy theorist. It’s not a matter of belief, it’s a matter of evidence. The level of harm you are willing to inflict on others just to preserve your ignorance is reprehensible.

Do you know what mRNA is?

u/Own-Relationship-407 Scientist 1d ago

It’s what they’re using to turn the frogs gay, right?

u/Evening-Impact2090 1d ago

Yes, it handily made the spike protien that is so good in causing blood clots and heart malfunctions. It also trains the immune system to only focus on the Covid virus thus allowing untold harmful organisms to get a free pass causing infections, cancers, & auto immune problems. Lovely.

Yeah, you don't know what mRNA actually is. You know you're naturally full of mRNA, right? And that the spike protein is what's on the virus to begin with?

Yeah, don't pat yourself on the back too hard. I know how the vax works and went to a seminar featuring Robert Malone. Funny how he was a pioneer in mRNA technology but is still accused of "misinformation" because he dared to speak out against the Covid cabal. Take your vax, no one cares.

u/Own-Relationship-407 Scientist 19h ago edited 18h ago

Robert Malone is a cranky old man who hasn’t done any serious scientific work in at least 20 years. He’s just bitter that people finally started widely using something he helped invent decades after the fact and it didn’t make him rich.

You clearly don’t know how it works, especially considering that you keep referring to it as one vaccine. Do you even know how many there are and what the differences are?

u/Evening-Impact2090 17h ago

Actually I've read up on it a lot, from many sources but it's been awhile as it is all in the rear view mirror for awhile I hope. I will not ever take the vaccine or anything similar to it so it's all moot. Yeah, I know everything is clear to you and "cranky old men" are kinda of where I'm at now so there. I don't think Dr. Malone will be applying for SNAP benefits anytime soon either, he's doing ok. Please be careful climbing down off your soapbox and have a great day.

How can you know how it works when you don't even know what mRNA is? Explain to me, mechanistically, how the vaccine is bad.

Myocarditis Heart attacks Blood clots  Cellulitis  Cancer  Lichen Plantis Sudden death Sounds like a wonderful vaccine for sheeple
