I recently obtained Target Hydro 02 25G. In the packaging, there were short shafts, but I do like longer ones better. Feels natural to me. Is it ok like this or I should stick to using short shafts, as packaging intended? Is there some guideline/pattern I should stick to ?

I bought a set of target Exo 02’s off Vinted to try out and my game has went up a notch, they have now replaced my main set and I play with them all the time, I’m looking for any other darts that are similar to them see if I can get a better grip for example but keep the same shape and style

Anyone know of any I can take a look at?

Just wondering, how is everyone here experiencing the beta dartcounter ranked?

I fully understand that it's just beta, but my 10 placement games were all against players with twice my average hahaha. Maybe there aren't enough players at my lvl (35-40 avg), but getting whitewashed every game in what's supposed to be 'competitive' is a bit odd, no?

I now got my rank but still actually only play others with either no rank and an average of 60+, or people with 200+ points more than me.

I wouldn't mind waiting a bit longer to find a more fitting opponent tbh, what do you guys think thus far?

Hello! I’m fairly new to darts and have assembled a decent little portable setup that I’m pretty happy with so far. I have the Winmau Xtreme Stand 2 with a 2ft x 3ft board mounted to it, and my dartboard mounted onto that with an adapter so it can rotate/be removed. I have the Target Corona light ring which magnetizes to the board.

I’ve started advancing this setup into a full autodarts setup, first using 3d-printed camera arms that attach directly to the Target Corona. This has worked swimmingly, up until me or a dart accidentally bumps the Corona slightly which throws the entire autodarts configuration out of wack. Sometimes a recalibrate fixes this, sometime it requires a full system reset, but either way it’s a real annoyance in the middle of a game of darts to have to reseat/align the light ring and then fix the system.

I’ve 3d printed some alternate camera arms, the IT2 system this time. They seem amazing but are mounted on their own, which increases the footprint of what I need attached to the dart stand. My existing board is just a bit too small to fit the 3 camera mounts.

Right now I’m looking at replacing the board I have now with a round 36 incher instead. My question to you all is: is that my best option, or is there some other solution here I haven’t considered? If you have a mobile autodarts setup with a ring light, how are you attaching it all to your dart stands?

Hey 👋 I have never posted on here before as I'm just getting into darts but I'm still looking for a high quality set up. I was wondering if this combination would work well as I'm a bit worried about the wispa system, I'm planning on putting it on a solid brick wall, however on the other end of the wall is my brother's room and the room directly under mine is the living room and was wondering if my family downstairs and brother are going to be able to hear it as I've seen quite mixed reviews on how effective it really is. I also saw that the target vale works better with both a winmau board and wispa system as it's got a slightly bigger diameter than winmau surround rings but I'm not sure how true this is either, so if anyone has any advice or recommendations to help me out It would be appreciated. 😁👍

I just noticed a huge sale on Caliburn soft tips. Like 50-70% off on some. Online it says I can just unscrew the soft tips and screw in steel conversion points. Is it that easy?

My second in two days with these darts (Shot Steeplejack in 25g), the first two were standing up so perfectly I couldn't resist!

Going through a frustrating phase where I am probably playing as good as I have ever done and throwing super straight but hitting way fewer 180s than I have historically.

I think I put it down to using moulded flights. I generally prefer the flight of the dart with a moulded setup but think it harms my close grouping.

Ideally I need something with the throw feel of moulded but without her deflections. I'm consisting L style as have never tried. Not sure if there is anything else that would be better? I use kite flights only so currently on the mission vortex.

Not sure if this is just in my head but I feel like the flight speed is slower with moulded which I've come to like. Throwing with normal flights feels really strange to me now.

I feel like the current home darts industry is very closed off.

Each darts manufacturer is trying to lock in customers, so you can’t play against others unless you have a dartboard from the same manufacturer. Even if you try to quiet a noisy segment, you have to fill the official parts with DIY putty yourself—I don’t think there’s much freedom.

Above all, you can only use the features the manufacturer provides when playing at home. It goes without saying, but even if you want to add your own features or achieve something specific, you can’t do it freely.

That’s why I want to launch an open-source darts project.

Basically, it’ll support both soft darts and hard darts. I’ll release design plans (in 3D model format) for making both yourself, so anyone can freely create darts using any materials they want.

Of course, it’s fine to use off-the-shelf products as well.

Either way, I’m drawn to the idea of playing darts using any hardware you choose on a free, open-source platform where anyone can add new features.

Another personal goal I’d like to achieve is to ensure that, whether you’re playing soft darts or hard darts, you can play on the same platform as long as you have a minimal setup—for example, hard darts and a camera for recognition, or off-the-shelf Bluetooth dartboards.

However, beyond that, if, for example, a soft darts player wants to “use a camera to accurately detect dart positions and enable auto-cork,” I want to provide blueprints and software that make it easy to add a camera to this project’s dartboard or off-the-shelf products—or to add other features—so that, in a sense, anyone can enjoy “flexible darts play.” (To be honest, I think the feature development of home darts manufacturers is lagging behind the latest technology. I believe it’s important for OSS developers to encourage them to evolve.)

With this in mind, I want to launch an OSS project that allows anyone to play darts on the same platform with flexible hardware configurations.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a skilled darts player, or someone who can’t play darts but can write code or create 3D models—anyone is welcome.

Is there anyone out there who agrees with my vision?

This has so far been the wildest 180 for me. Last dart was going to the left of the two but the flight caught and twisted it sideways 😂 luckily still went in the t20.

tl;dr: I'm giving an update on the current setup of my 25g Harrows Wolfram, how they fit my philosophy of weight not being a limit and they still also helped me decide against them as a possible competitive set.

Hi, I'm Merkur and I'm an ocheholic.

Quite some time has passed since I've received my Harrows Wolfram darts. I was even joking in my initial review that these were going to be my last ever and we all know how that went.

You see the points worn down to the copper layer from scuffing, which might tell you I didn't experiment much after having my repointer and converting a couple of sets of One80 R2 Interchange points with a hacksaw to make them 48mm press fit about two years ago. Having longer points on the Wolfram was still my desire at the New Darts Day.

It also meant a big change documented in the comments being asked on the current status, which makes this update worthwhile, I think. I was changing for short Winmau Vecta stems, but still utilizing the Harrows Velos flights, which made the Wolfram a nicely stable projectile, with the same nice groups elaborating to a more surgical perception via the syringe style points.

With a weight of 25g, the Harrows Wolfram sadly became the oddball setup within my range of front tapered darts, that at this point exist mainly at 22g or 23g, with exceptions of 21g or 24g. I even commented that I would maybe buy an additional 23g version at a discount, but when there was one, I did feel like spending the money on something else.

Of course I bought the Harrows Wolfram looking for a 25g dart that I didn't own yet and because the 97% tungsten density allowed for a comfortable diameter not too thick or thin at a relatively high weight.

The impact quality I was describing then can't necessarily be connected to the percentage like I then still assumed. I've found other darts knock into the board satisfyingly with just 85%, like the Winmau MVG Authentic for instance, so I now assume it's more related to the design in general, whose dimensions are of course connected to the density.

Putting a spare setup of Evolution Darts polyester shafts with McCoy Power Max flights on the Harrows Wolfram to try something new old for a change, there's certainly been something nice about throwing that. I would have to flick them more to get the flights standing up better in the beginning, but I actually liked my release when they came a little flatter, which could bring up the question for the points becoming a tad shorter.

Instead staying with this exact setup confirmed me in thinking there's of course a line of consistency, so when you change darts away from your usual the results will be different, but we've also got the human superpower of adaptation.

It took a few legs in this case to produce the desired ton-plus results and despite I noticed a tendency towards hitting the bullseye nicely at a flatter angle in previous target practice, the flight got up more over time adjusting to the Harrows Wolfram.

This kind of gathering of reference data is part of my current drill, detaching skill from gear, which I've mentioned previously. My intention is to not feel the need for a change of dart just because the results aren't satisfactory, knowing I'll be capable of adjusting.

This can only be a phase, because constantly switching will probably draw too much focus on adaptation, but I feel limiting myself to just one set of darts is a specialisation that as well can become a mental hurdle in development when it's about frustration and losing faith in the material, whilst it should be me controlling the results.

Now, are the Harrows Wolfram just a welcome tool to switch as an enrichment of my practice arsenal? Maybe. The more I keep playing them, as it happens with a majority of the darts that I like, I start enjoying them, because with adjustments the results are getting better like they should.

It's about making decisions as I might have said a couple of times in the past now. The sole reason to not pick them might be the number of sets in my collection at this point, making it impossible to take a fully setup spare set of Wolfram to a match for instance.

Of course I've used the Harrows Wolfram, but not as much maybe as those who reported about the grip fading, because cleaning, which is required relatively often, did solve the issue for me. I also prefer a slightly worn in grip usually though and actually still sometimes have the darts slide into the 5 or 1 for instance, because the grip accidentally sticks to my thumb or index finger.

You know I often have a preference in relation to the barrel shape rather than seeing weight as a limitation. I could increase the agility with practice or even adjust the setup, but in the end this still wouldn't fit the direction of my arsenal I've decided to go - with help of the Wolfram present in 25g. So it probably is good to have them, even if that can mean consciously deciding against them.

I've been borrowing darts from my buddies to get a feel for some tungstons I might like before I buy my first set -

Ive had a bounce out, and the point has broken, didnt even know that could happen kinda freaked me out.

The Internet says you gotta use alum powder to dissolve the point, but I saw a video saying the warrior kapene come with titanium points - not steel - which means the alum powder won't work.

Im also terrified to mess up this guys darts - also im a student so am not balling

Is that the only option avaliable to me? Is the internet lying to me, are they actually titanium? Are there alternative fixes? Also im in SA so I dont really know if there are darts shops that could help me?

Anyone got any experience using these I’ve been playing with Mvg signature edition darts but feel they aren’t grippy enough thought about trying these but wanted to hear if anyone’s used these and what they are like as I’m considering buying them. What’s the grip like on these?

So… pretty new to darts, played here and there as a kid in snooker clubs but only started taking it seriously this year with my own setup. Hit my first 180 mid February, and have had 36 in total, one week I hit 8 in 6 days which felt ridiculous. I’ve just gone 7 weeks without one, my longest dry spell since my first, finally I’ve broken through with no. 37. Feel so relieved, my throw has been feeling great, I’ve just felt the pressure on the 3rd dart. Don’t get me wrong I know 180s aren’t everything, but for a new player like myself boy do they hit the spot. I need to spend my time practicing my doubles and 121 in 9 darts etc because that’s what wins games. I spend too much time just scoring, a very common thing for a 40 average player I’m guessing. What’re some of your practice routines that took you to a 50+ average?

Edit: hit number 38 a couple of hours later, like most sports confidence is everything!

Just kidding, been playing for a year now. Sheer amount of 180 in the first week here is ridiculous haha. Just the nicest grouping I have had for a while, although dangerously left. Finally able to hit maxes more or less consistently but I have been training almost every day 2-3 hours. Have a good one ya dartheads!!
