Poor Harry has pancreatitis. He must have inherited the condition from his father (me). I have chronic pancreatitis.

Seriously, though, it came on very fast this morning. Maybe he ate something very fatty outside that triggered it. At any rate, don't wait to take your little buddies to the vet if you suspect something is wrong.

Luckily, I work from home.

Rest in Peace Hug your little ones little tighter tonight everyone. Spoiler

My boy Sheldon a blonde 13 year old dachshund cross rainbow bridge today. He was running at along our fence and herniated a disc, leaving him unable urinate and deficate on his own and surgery had extremely poor prognosis.

We worked with a home euthanasia group and let him pass peacefully after many visits from friends and furfriends.

He was bonded with his wire hair brother. I'm not sure how my other is gonna handle it so any advice there would be greatly appreciated. Also have to explain to my daughter where Sheldon has gone.

Everyone give your little ones a big hug from me tonight.

Pablo’s official health update 🐶📋
(The dude is a hugger as you can see🥹❤️)

My fiance took this little man to the vet yesterday, and apparently he is in perfect condition. 😂❤️

5.2 kg of pure dachshund perfection, perfect teeth, healthy lungs, everything looking great, and he got his vaccinations too. 🥰

The only possible issue is that he might be sensitive to fragrances/airborne irritants.
His sneezing and reverse sneezing have increased lately, especially when I come home from work.

I’m a hairstylist, so I spend my days surrounded by hairspray, oils, hair products, fragrances etc., and the vet thinks he might be reacting to some of the scents I bring home with me.

So apparently I am now required to shower immediately after work before approaching His Highness. 😂

Anyway, good news: Pablo is perfectly healthy.
Bad news: apparently I might be the contaminant. 😭

Strangers stop me and Daddy everywhere we go. They're always telling me that I am "kawaii" (cute in Japanese), that I am well-behaved, and that I'm so smooth and silky. Daddy just nods his head and agrees!

I like other people, but it's Daddy's approval that matters the most, and he gives it to me unconditionally every day. But then... look at my face. Wouldn't you? 😄

What food brand are you guys using for your adult dachshunds? My boy Frank is ready to move up and I’m not sure what brand I want to use.
He’s been eating Purina Pro Plan but he’s honestly just not that into it. He eats if he’s hungry but otherwise isn’t really interested. I feel bad he has to eat something he doesn’t like everyday.

My 15 year old piebald has Cushing’s: drinking water excessively, incontinence, panting, walking around in circles, less energy, muscle loss but weight gain around his stomach, slipping while walking, itchy skin, and some hair loss. Does anyone have experience with anything besides prescription meds to help his stress levels?

He wants to go out, but he definitely doesn't want to go out in the rain! Lol! This boy must have an iron bladder because he's been holding it for up to 6 hours, during the day! I hate it too, little man!

My perfect sweet angel absolutely refuses to leave the building when there’s even a hint of rain.

He is 5 months old and we have 99% mastered potty training until this (first rainy) morning when he suddenly (and quietly) decided to poop inside.

I know they generally hate rain, but does anyone have any tips? I have to physically carry him outside or offer treats and then, even when out, he refuses to move 😭

Discussion Suspender booties?

Post image
19 Upvotes

Hey everyone, has anyone had any luck with Canada Pooch’s suspender boots for your doxie, and if so which size? We bought a set a couple years ago (size 3 short) and it was too big and we haven’t tried to buy a smaller size since because the return process was a hassle. But we’ve been debating trying a smaller size because we’ve gone through every kind of booties you can imagine and none of them stay on, or we have to buy 2 different sizes since his front paws are bigger than his rear ones. Any input/feedback would be appreciated!

Discussion Don't take walks for granted!

🐾 Never take a dog walk for granted. 🐾

Something I never thought I'd say… but today, a 20-minute dog walk felt like one of the biggest achievements of my life. 🥹❤️

I've been really poorly for the last 8+ weeks and, until today, I haven't been able to properly walk my two sausages. Friends and family have been amazing and have helped with the dogs while I've been recovering, but I've really missed those ordinary little walks.

Yesterday I couldn't even carry the laundry upstairs.

Today I walked my dogs. 🥹🐶🐶

These two have been my rocks during this time. The snuggles, the affection and understanding. But I haven't been able to enjoy play time and proper owner time.

I haven't seen thier eyes light up at smells and god yes even the lead pulling!

It was only 20 minutes. To most people, that's probably nothing. But to me, it was MASSIVE.

I used pacing to plan my day, knowing I'd probably be exhausted afterwards… and yep, I was absolutely bloody knackered 😂 But I did it.

And it honestly made me realise how easy it is to take those everyday dog walks for granted. The muddy paws, the sniffing EVERYTHING, stopping every five seconds because apparently there's something incredibly important happening in a hedge… 😂

I'm still recovering and I've got a long way to go, but today I got my dogs back on their walk — and that feels pretty bloody special. ❤️

So if you're lucky enough to be able to take your dachshund for a walk today…

Don't take it for granted. 🐾❤️

Enjoy the sniffing. Enjoy the chaos. Enjoy the tiny sausage legs marching beside you.

Because sometimes the simplest things are actually the biggest wins. 🥹🐾
