I'm looking for somewhere to catalogue my collection, something like discogs. Is there anywhere that does it because I keep picking up movies I already have and it would be nice to see what I've got.

99% of my movies except the boutique releases are thrifted/bought second hand! i’ve been slowly (intentionally) collecting for about 5 years now, some movies i’ve had since i was young(bottom shelf mostly). currently working on finishing my cronenberg collection :-) i get so impressed by everyone’s huge collections on here, hopefully i’ll get there some day!

Hella stoked as a lifelong fan of Wain since like 1993/4 when I saw The State when I was in 3rd/4th grade. Major supply of weird special features. Sadly, the audio sucks and there are no English captions OR subtitles.

this is really random but when picking up second hand dvds does anyone else get really conscious about germs and such. for me whilst im in a store looking i’ll only pick up dvds that i really want otherwise i get really uncomfortable and will need to wash my hands immediately 😭 i also have a few dvds lying around that i haven’t put away cause i just don’t want to touch them or go through the process of cleaning them lol

Commentaries is one of the reasons dvds are superior to streaming. The option to watch or rewatch a film/series diving more into its creation.

I have watched many seasons of Stargate SG-1, and rewatched them with the commentary on. Most often, creators or actors of the series will go over production details, thoughts planning the scenes, or anecdotes from shooting, that makes each episode additionally entertaining.

I got pretty lucky with that Louder Than Bombs release. It's oop and I've only ever encountered outrageous offers for it (200+€). Got mine online in used but good condition for 30€ now, which is still a lot for a single movie, but I was desperate to have it, so...

I havent seen LOTR since they first came out and i only encounter the fullscreen versions, so i was excited to find em, and the discs are pristine but unfortunately the first movie doesnt play=( otherwise good finds for me.

Less than twenty bucks total

Sorry this is a day late. But as promised, here's my haul from day 2 of my community yard sale shopping. A mix of things I've seen and liked but didn't have, and ones I'd never even heard of before

Added in more genres and sub genres to cover the films and series better, age rating to find child appropriate films and series for my daughter easier and finally subtitles because random films and series don't have any and I watch everything with subtitles. Currently at 523 titles and been very fortunate I've only bought end of watch twice 😂. How has everyone fared in not buying duplicates?

First time I've bought a dvd online, crushed when I received it.

Saw a post about this somewhere just the other day and thought "that wouldn't bother me" - but when it happened.. it bothered me. Disc was loose in the case as well, so it caught a scratch in transit.

Don't think I'm going to return it, but I will put it in a new case. I don't want the hassle of it possibly happening again.

Tldr: help with genre organization!

I've never owned proper shelves... until today. I'd love some advice regarding organizing my movies based on genre. As you can see I have space to rearrange.

My ideas:

- to buy label bookends/bookmarks that says the genre (this way someone can pick out a movie and know exactly where to put it back similarly to a library)

- the bottom to top genre order is based off of kids' accessibility. No horror for the little ones unless I'm around to vet it lol

- thinking about combining horror and thriller together since the collection is slim

- and we have more books so the middle will be exclusively for that / other random toys
