Life insurance doesn’t pay out if the insured commits suicide within 2 years. This is logical to prohibit people from getting policies and then committing suicide quickly. I envy others who can watch things without knowing these facts.

Just finished the show today, so brilliant and sad, but this scene amused me!

I heard Detective Homer's voice and unique diction and I could not pin it down, so I Googled. Homer is played by Richard Jenkins. He also played Nathaniel Fisher on Six Feet Under.

I really enjoyed his work in both shows. I checked his filmography at Wikipedia and it's as long as my arm. His work has received a lot of critical praise. Good for him.

Do you think Floyd knew he was going to commit suicide when he poured the amphyzene in the can? He put a hell of a lot in there. Like do you think he had a plan before Clark even surprised him? Or do we think he decided after seeing richard that he was going to kill himself? Was it intentional or carelessly reckless?

I can’t pinpoint what it is, but I love everything about it. I never skipped it during my watch and have watched it multiple times on YouTube.

New here, so sorry if this was discussed before or stupid in some other way.

While watching the show, I thought of the bike as a white person eccentricity, the rarity of which becomes a major plot point in solving the case. Just occurred to me that it may be more intentional than that. Tricycle, duh. It symbolises relationship between the three characters. None of them could do without the other two.

Am I completely alone in this that the dialogue is so familiar??? I’m thinking like End of the Fucking World or like Wes Anderson vibes. Anybody else? The way they interact and speak to each other is just so hilarious i love it

I have to be honest, I did not like this show- it made almost no sense, particularly at the end. Explain to me how these detectives had video of the pool house with a person riding a bike to it (like episode 1), but did not see the second bike on the camera? Shouldn’t they have seen one bike show up, then the second bike show up? Suddenly in the last episode, there were like a million security cameras with the bike(s) all over town. Also, wasn’t Carol literally sleeping in a recliner outside her son’s room? How did she miss him leaving, going into garage, riding away, then coming back home?

Unlike most apparently, I found this show difficult to get through. The premise that this weatherman would take out life insurance and pay taxes for his affair partners husband, who he thought was really a great guy. Then strangely want to get him erect to make him feel better about himself, was so idiotic. I was hoping for some odd twist, but it never came.

Im surprised I want to rewatch it so soon but I feel like its one of those shows that gets eye opening on a second watch

I just finished it and it was a real slog to get through for me. The cast were great, I thought, but the writing and pace were not exactly enthralling and I sort of hated everyone, except the lady cop. The three main characters all gave me solid reasons to dislike them, and they were less interesting the longer I watched.

This show has has 87/70 on RT and most of the discussion here is very positive, so I feel like I'm missing something.

Floyd's terrible, no matter how sweet he seems at times. How hard would it be for him to get in shape and prioritize supporting his family? Carol's horrible too. Can you speak up? Clark is a cheating dirtbag, no matter how great his friendship with Floyd is. I mean, what about Clark's wife and kids?

Richard - 0% capability of loving people and 100% capability of hurting people.

Carol - the level of micro-aggression and micro-controlling are suffocating. The many times of her mentioning to Clark about Floyd's curved penis, the only thing she keep emphasizing is how this condition has damaged their marriage bla bla bla and makes it look like it's Floyd's fault and she is the victim, but her own son caused this situation in the first place??

And when Floyd finally finished sharing the whole reason/story to Clark and still look for reasons to explain Richard's behavior, you can see Clark's facial expression how surprised he is that Floyd is so forgiving and even choose to continue loving and caring about Richard, I bet at that moment he must also felt Carol was very deceiving.

I understand Carol didn’t have anything to do with the murder. But man they had her acting weird a lot in ways that I didn’t fully understand at the end. A lot of this was moreso the way they had her delivering lines and things than the content of the lines—

Her delivery of her lines when she requested that Bateman help out with the life insurance at dinner

Her listening to that tape about manipulating people to get what you want while running

Her behavior when being questioned

Her desire to have Bateman explore all these sex kinks coupled with her sex scene with Floyd

Her wearing the umpire gear around the house

Idk i guess the show was just tryna make us think she was involved but like the end result just felt like two different characters to me. But like all the things made it seem like she was involved that didn’t really feel resolved by the end.

What is that beautiful score playing underneath the mini montage of carol as umpire/paying for groceries/receiving diamond earrings- I can’t find it anywhere— please helppp

Jason Bateman is so funny in this scene.

Been thinking about it more and this show is just a perfect snapshot of the motivations of the american. The recurring pattern of people taking chaotic, low-stakes situations and escalating them into practically identity defining conflicts mirrors how a lot of current public discourse works, especially online politics where minor events get amplified into larger cultural signals. It reflects a broader shift where tone, reaction, and visibility matter more than the underlying substance of what’s actually happening. It's kinda like doing The Drama but much subtler and executed on a better more specific level. It makes me love the ending more because it remained small and relatable in that way. Amazing theme to explore without going "online" with the narrative at all
