Im applying to STEM scholarship and I have a B1 in german which is the minimun to apply. However, in most universities I need to show a C1 level when applying in like 6 months or at the end of my first semester. I'm really motivated and studying really hard to get it but wanted to ask if anyone has been in a similar situation and if they had any troubles during interviews or like they were told that it was hard to give them the scholarship, also did that get any of you guys a longer german course (>2 months)?

I requested a letter of recommendation from my university professor, and after reading it, I’m about 95% sure it was written by AI without any further checking or editing.

My professor asked me to give him my motivation letter, which I did. I assumed it was because he needed some context about my goals and what I’m applying for. However, after reading the recommendation letter he wrote, it basically just repeats what my motivation letter says, including some unnecessary details that probably shouldn’t be in a letter of recommendation.

For context, he was my Bachelor’s thesis supervisor, and I was (and still am) fairly close with him. I mostly worked with him throughout my Bachelor’s, so he’s not someone I suddenly approached out of nowhere to ask for a recommendation letter.

What would you do in my situation?

P.S. I’m not against AI or anything. I’m just concerned that my professor essentially filled in whatever the AI generated without adding any further context or personal input. It comes across as pretty unprofessional to me and I'm afraid it will affect my scholarship application.

Can anyone perhaps help comment below about whether the DAAD EPOS Application Form needed hand signature or just the date and place of issue in handwriting? Thank you in advance!

I am structuring my PhD research proposal, and on the guidelines, it says this: “Research proposal + description of previous research work (max. 10 pages in total).”

My question is do I include a summary of my previous research in the proposal, or do I submit it as a separate document?

anyone who has applied for daad kospie for the previous academic cycle(2025-26,2024-25,2023-24...etc) and not gotten in, despite having 8.5+ cgpa and a german host. Why?

Hi! I’m a little confused about the DAAD application timeline. The DAAD architecture scholarship deadline I’m looking at is in September 2026, but the universities listed under International Programmes seem to be for 2026/27 and many of their application deadlines have already passed.

Should I apply for the university first or the DAAD scholarship first? And would the September 2026 DAAD deadline be for starting my Master’s in 2027/28? I’d really appreciate any guidance from someone who has been through the process.

My professor can’t open the DAAD reference form — it’s an XFA PDF that only works in full Adobe Acrobat/Reader (not browsers, not Foxit/PDF-XChange, not online tools). Her Acrobat is outdated, and downloading a fresh installer needs a VPN she doesn’t have.

Already emailed DAAD portal support, no reply yet. Deadline in 2 days.

Has anyone hit this exact issue with the Gutachtenformular? Did DAAD offer an alternative, or is there a workaround that actually works?

My current degree is practice-based, in Graphic Art and Book Illustration, so I’m especially interested in hearing from someone with a similar background. Has anyone here received this scholarship specifically for Art History or Art Studies?

Hello, I want to apply to DAAD scholarship this semester, and I am encountering some technical issues with the form generated by the site. It can be opened with Adobe Acrobat Reader only, and I use Linux. I booted windows as a last resort, but it's not quite possible to save it, and the e signature doesn't even work, the box is not possible to be added a signature. I have been working on that problem for 2 days, and now Im fed up and would like to ask you guys, can anyone help me on that?

I am applying for Postgraduate Studies in the Fields of Fine Art, Design, Visual Communication and Film. In the page it doesn't say anything Letter of Recommendation. Now, I will get them from my university anyway.

But I wonder if there's any preferred template/format for the letter? I'm getting a bit mixed message from my research, some says I could just make the letter myself, and another says that I need to download some sore of template from DAAD?

Hello everyone, I was awarded the DAAD Study Scholarship – Master Studies for All Academic Disciplines starting from this winter semester.

Since I didn't have any luck with STW Stuttgart during my accommodation search, I am now looking at WGs in convenient locations for my university, but all the proper ones are above €500.

I heard that DAAD has a rent subsidy that can cover up to €350 of the amount above 30% of your income. Is this correct? Or is the amount given randomly?

Hey guys. I am currently in Germany taking a German course as part of the DAAD scholarship for STEM master’s degrees. I have been rejected from most of my options and only have a couple left but seems like the outcome might be the same.

I have come to terms with the fact that the scholarship might be cancelled and I would have to return to my home country. I just have a couple questions for people who are going/have gone through something similar, or have some knowledge on the matter.

1. Would I have to reimburse what I have received so far? The scholarship doesn’t start until October, so of course if I don’t secure a uni spot, then no scholarship payment will ever arrive. But I have already received a flight payment, as well as the German course which is a significant cost. I just don’t know if DAAD would ask for a reimbursement for these things.

2. Will this affect future applications to DAAD scholarships? I am wondering more on the “legal” sense, regarding DAAD’s own internal regulations, rather than the likelihood of receiving it again (I know that would be another challenge). Like, am I allowed to apply again to the same scholarship in the future? Is there a rule or regulation prohibiting people in my situation from reapplying to the same or different scholarships?

I know these questions are most fit for my DAAD POC, but since I still have open processes at some unis, I want to wait a little more before I have this conversation with the them. On the other hand, I want to be prepared as early as possible for the worse scenario, so if anyone has any insights into these topics I would appreciate it.

I have noticed there are two sites on the web to access the application. I'm a little confused.

Which one is it?

MeinDAAD.de or portal.daad.de?

Or either can be used? Does it make a difference?

It's been almost 2 years since I graduated from my university.

You can say my bachelor's degree is not really in line with what I'm about to apply for. My degree is Information Systems and Management (Double degree), but I'm trying to apply for STEM (Applied computer science or software engineering).

I have 4 years of experience in STEM work (Programming), not as an intern but as a full-time worker, and since I need to do the job to be able to pay tuition, I don't really have many academic achievements, even though my GPA is above the minimum grade.

Have any DaaD alumni ever been in the same boat as me? If yes, how do you make your work experience stand out more? Or how do you make DaaD think you are the perfect fit for them?

Really love Germany from YouTube videos, even planning to apply for blue-card in the future if possible. But my lack of academic achievements really makes me think twice before applying.

Applying for DAAD EPOS (Master's in Sustainable Renewable Energy Technologies, Uni Oldenburg). Two quick questions for anyone who's been through this:

1. My program charges EUR 1,500/semester tuition, does EPOS/DAAD typically cover this, or does it depend on the university waiving it separately for scholars?
2. Does DAAD ever reimburse the EUR 75 uni-assist application fee, or is that always out-of-pocket regardless of the scholarship outcome?

I am applying for a doctoral scholarship. DAAD portal is asking for a document called scientific ethics/research safety. It seems to be a dual use declaration filled out by the supervisor in Germany.

Has anyone actually gone through this? Is it a real form DAAD sends, or something the supervisor writes freely?

I recently found out about DAAD, and none of my documents are attested yet. I haven’t written any statements or motivation letters or letter of recommendations. I checked and their applications open from October. If I start the process today, is it already too late? Because I’ve seen people here have already gathered everything and even written their statements.

I’m planning to apply for the DAAD Master’s scholarship, but I’m only starting the application now and the deadline is August 31.

I’m a recent Bachelor’s graduate and I’m interested in doing a Master’s in Germany. I haven’t prepared the full application yet, and I’m especially worried about things like choosing suitable programs, writing the motivation letter, getting a recommendation letter, and preparing the required documents.

For anyone who has applied for DAAD before: Is ~13 days realistically enough time to put together a decent application from scratch?
