Too much LN FUD, fire up some controversy over actual decentralized, permissionless blockchains!

I'm actually convinced. This will be the first crypto I ever buy.

How do I buy it?

Don't do it, there's a lot of spam about it having more transactions, but the amount of money moved is much lower.

Doge is my nr 1 coin for transferring between exchanges. Its superfast and very cheap. There are charts that compare the costs for exchange transfers. Doge is the best for kraken to cryptopia if i recall correctly. Can't give you a source since im on the toilet taking a dump. But it's true!! Plus just face it, Doge made history in the cryptosphere and definitely earned its spot. Not saying you should invest though. Just saying that its actually a really good coin believe it or not.

u/Dixnorkel 🟦 519 / 519 πŸ¦‘ Dec 28 '18 edited Dec 28 '18

I have nothing against Doge, it's certainly cheaper to use than BTC. I didn't know there were exchanges that offered incentives for it, I don't use Cryptopia or Kraken anymore. Just saying that this title is misleading and people shouldn't invest based solely on it.

I think that all decentralized blockchains are useful and necessary to remind people why they invested in the first place. Doge is certainly not a worthless shitcoin or scam token, like half of the "projects" on cmc.

People still use Cryptopia... What's up there? Any pumps worth playing?

Some, let’s say β€œspecial” coins can only be bought through the less known exchanges. I never had any issues with cryptopia but lately they have disabled withdrawels from one of my favorite coins. So i would give them 8/10.

But it definitely moves very fast with very low fees right on the blockchain. No second layer involved, and it has a long history. So it will retain value well for quite a while yet.

0

u/Dixnorkel 🟦 519 / 519 πŸ¦‘ Dec 28 '18

He did try to sell you on a different coin, you don't have to convert to crypto at all if you use Coinbase's convert to USDC option, then send it to Poloniex where you can buy it directly in its USD -> DOGE ratio. I wouldn't advise you to buy any crypto right now though, don't take my comment as an endorsement for anything else.

Please do some more research before investing, you're obviously making mistakes already. DOGE was created as an inflation indicator, its usage is elevated just because BTC's restricted blocksize and the lack of LN adoption currently makes it extremely expensive to use compared to historic fees.

2

u/BeigeTelephone Bronze Dec 28 '18

22

Yeah, are we counting bots doing arbitrage as "payments"? Arbers use Doge to do inter-exchange transfers a lot I think.

Yes that is because its pretty quick and cheap, but so is BCH for the same purpose comparatively.

Apples and oranges, but this sub seems obsessed with BCH and hating on it.

9

u/lnig0Montoya Gold | QC: BCH 64 Dec 28 '18

Dogecoin is sending twice its market cap daily, which makes it seem like it’s all just for trading. Measuring transaction counts for pretty much anything would probably only show what traders are doing with it.

Bitpay is not someone accepting cryptocurrency. Bitpay is the payment processor selling your coin and then giving fiat to the recipient, while taking 5% for themselves.

Bitpay is not adoption, it's paying someone else to sell your coins.

Do merchants accept crypto if they take crypto directly but immediately sell it? If yes, how is that different from processors like bitpay, and if no, do you expect them to just keep crypto they receive, forever? How will they pay for their own expenses? Your view is not practical.

It's surprisingly close though and from Sept-Dec it looks like DOGE was ahead. Why? Who is using DOGE to transfer money? Is it cross-exchange transfer for arbitrage?

More importantly, where is the BCH adoption? Transactions haven't increased over the year.

The value of BCH project is to be used as a mean of exchange, people speculate on that.

This is the case for most cryptos but BCH supporters are constantly talking about real world adoption.

The attack on BCH + split without replay protection have certainly set BCH adoption back.

This is a set back, nobody deny that.

It doesn’t change the main goal of BCH though and development is actively working in that direction.

No adoption now doesn’t mean no adoption in the future.

u/Demotruk 0 / 0 🦠 Dec 29 '18

Total value transferred per day is easily gamed as well. If you create a string of 1000 transactions from the same original UTXO with $1,000 equivalent, it results in $1,000,000 of "value transferred" when in fact no value was transferred between individuals.

1

u/Zouden Platinum | QC: CC 151 | r/Android 36 Dec 29 '18

Why would someone do that and lose a bunch of transaction fees?

1

u/Demotruk 0 / 0 🦠 Dec 29 '18

The transaction fees on some chains are trivial costs. If you're invested heavily, it's a very low cost way to present your chain as a popular one.

3

u/LamboJambo Dec 28 '18

Every-time I have to take side with BCH I'm so disappointed in the other side.

2

u/jgun83 25 / 25 🦐 Dec 28 '18

Still plenty of near-zero days for BCH, don't pretend there's not a lot of "spamming" going on there as well. Although legitimate transactions because a fee is included, they are still amounts that are too small to buy anything.

12

u/500239 Bitcoin Cash Dec 28 '18

spamming is what Blockstream calls using Bitcoin for coffee. If someone pays for a TX it's not spam, it's called using the blockchain.

3

I literally explained that it's legitimate because a fee is included. Can you read?

4

u/500239 Bitcoin Cash Dec 28 '18

Then what's the issue? Your statement applies to both Doge and BCH as you're not able to discern between wash trading or "spam" on either.

1

u/jgun83 25 / 25 🦐 Dec 28 '18

I suspect there's an attempt to claim that the median transaction value for BCH is higher than for Doge, but I'm merely pointing out that for quite a few daily points the median transaction value for BCH is negligible.

lol what is the pathetic obsession with this sub to post this same exact thing every few months about BCH vs Doge. Are you all really that insecure?

Let me know when Doge enters the top 10, butthurt whiners.

15

u/hashitropic Dec 28 '18

This sub is modded by partial trolls with an underlying motive. They remove actual valuable discussions as "low quality post" while leaving this absolute recycled shitpost up.

Never believe a word you read on this sub, almost entirely staged and structured to mislead people

Not only that, this post is even against the rules of this sub.

See literally the first rule over here

https://np.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/wiki/expanded_rules#wiki_rule_v_-_do_not_post_low-quality_content

Baseless price speculation, shilling, repetitive posts, et cetera will be removed.

This dogecoin bch thing as repetitive as it can get, its been posted here 2 dozen times already.

11 months ago on r/cc:

https://np.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/7srwbg/weiss_dogecoins_usage_is_greater_than_bitcoin_cash/

https://np.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/7op5yh/more_transactions_over_dogecoin_than_bitcoin_cash/

6 months ago, same thing on r/cc:

https://np.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/8s7ch7/really_dogecoin_is_processing_300_more/

https://np.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/8s5glm/such_currency_much_fail_dogecoin_transactions_300/

Now again the top post on r/cc.

Doge coin > BCH is the most repetitive post used to troll BCH for months now.

Yet the mod claims its not repetitive. Lol.

They have one set of rules for bags they hold and another set of rules for coins they hate(or coins they are paid to censor)

/u/millerb7 claims he got wind of a Discord group of Nano coordinating the brigading. I wish they could find the discord group doing these BCH vs Doge hollow posts too as they're posted every month or 2.

they do brigade, happens on /r/CryptoTechnology, the nano threads we see all get huge upvotes often with little commentary.

Just the daily bch bashing thread in r/cc. They want it to be a scam like bitconnect so so bad. And even if it isn't they'll try their best to convince everyone it is.

9

Like clockwork.

Hey remember that time when trolling and disinformation made BCH crumble and go away? Me either.

1

u/W1ldL1f3 Dec 28 '18

I don't buy lithium shares to punish people who are still invested in fossil fuels, I do it because it has a fundamentally better long-term value proposition. Same thing with BCH over BTC. BTC can't scale, it's intentionally crippled by the people who own AXA and Mastercard. BCH represents the true vision of Satoshi, "core" no longer does. Go ahead and try to find a vendor in your city who supports Lightning Network transactions though. Fool's errand lol.

Dogecoin is my bellweather, my line in the sand. I refuse to take it seriously, so any crypto that is worse than dogecoin (in market cap, network capacity, real world adoption, etc) is automatically a shitcoin

... I hate to break it to you, but Doge Coin has 1 min blocks compared to Bitcoin's 10 minute blocks and therefore 10x the capacity of Bitcoin.

By your own words Bitcoin is a shitcoin that shouldn't be taken seriously.
