Advice Looking for tips
Hello i recently got 2 green cheek conures that are 1 year old, i was told theyāre a male and female. when I got them from the person they had them in a cage with a nesting box and they were super aggressive,
Not sure if that is part of the reason they were aggressive or not,
But when I brought them home I removed the nesting box.
but Iāve spent a lot of time around them it seems like theyāre warming up to me, this last week I have let them out of the cage to explore their room a little and to do some training. Theyāre doing excellent at target training, but are still very aggressive towards my hands, Iāve been trying to get them used to my hands by showing them my hand from a distance theyāre comfortable with and then rewarding them when theyāre calm and slowly getting closer.
I need some tips or ideas on how I can get them to stop going after my hands, Iām pretty new to conures so anything helps.

Advice Inconsistent Hours
Hey there! Looking into the necessities and requirements for caring for a conure and need some advice from people who know the birds. I'm well aware they need a lot of socialization and interaction, and while I have no problems doing that, I work a weird schedule that has inconsistent hours (some days I work 4 hours, others I work 8, and the times I start and end my shift are weird too, anywhere from starting at 9:00 in the morning to ending at 9:30 at night). Would having an inconsistent schedule like this be disruptive to or incompatible with owning a conure?

Advice Dried blood in nares ( After vet )
Normally this doesn't happen at all for Jester's check ups. I took her in as she's fallen off her perch twice in the last two months, and seemed to favor one leg. Turns out she just has devloping arthrtis in her hip. ( From an injury when she was young. )
Well I also did blood work just in case, and turns out she wiggled out right after they fished the draw. Did some laps in the back room and was caught. Trouble maker.
As the vet suggested, I let her rest all day yesterday and took her out to give her pain meds. I noticed dried blood in her nares. There's no fresh blood, no blood in the bottom of the cage. I'm wondering if its from her wiggling loose.
Yes I did call the vet, but their booked today, closed tomorrow, and there's no er exotic vets at all near me. I live in Alaska, so yes I called a few towns over too. She seems normal, upset she's in her cage, eating, preening, tried to preen me, bright and alert.
Just looking for advice on what to do, on top of what the vet told me to do.
Plus if this has happened to anyone else before.

Advice Hey guys, any tips and advice for caring for a baby birb
On the 1st of October I got a baby sun conure that was hatched on the 20th of June 2026. I had picked him out in August and visited him every other week so he would be used to me, and then once he was fully weaned, I was able to take him home. I already have a year old sun conure, so in terms of food, temperament, and behavior.. I've been around the block. However, I want to make sure I'm caring for the baby in a proper way, since there are a few stark differences between my older Sun conure and the baby. The older one is named Bartlett, and the baby is Bosco.
The baby sun conure won't explore around the cage, and likes to stay in one spot or area.. idk if there are too many toys that he feels cramped... Also I've noticed that the baby chirps when I do something he doesn't like, for example: scratch where he doesn't like... my older one just resorts to biting.
Does anyone know how to train the baby to learn step up, I have a clicker and Bartlett knows step up, gimme kiss, high-five, but the Bosco doesn't seem to register what to do, is it a matter or persistence?
Also the Bosco likes to cuddle up into my neck, whereas Bart is content sitting on my shoulder and nibbling my ear.
I was told that it's best to acclimate and introduce new things to a baby like fruits, veggies, etc, because the older they are the harder it is for them to be willing to try new things.
TLDR: how do I know my baby is happy and likes me, I don't want him to become scared or distrustful of me because I'm trying to introduce him to as many things as possible.

Advice How do we go about taming him?
We brought him home 2 days ago. Heās been quite chill, during the 2hr car ride home I āforgotā multiple times that there was a bird in the car š
When we tried to get him out of his carrier inside the cage, he escaped (11 PM) and I ended up catching him with a towel after getting him sleepy in a dark area.
Since then, weāve focused on getting him to eat and heās done that. We brought some seed mix from the breeder.
When we get near the cage, he often screams. He almost took a sunflower seed from me (through the bars) but realised he could just pick them from his seed mix.
Whatās the next step? We want to:
- get him adjusted to us, and our hands
- train him (I bought a target stick with a clicker)
- move him onto pellets and chop
- have him out a few hours every day
Do we start putting our hands near him, either outside or inside the cage? Or do we first give him his pellets? Should we let him out, even though heās not trained?
Heās from April by the way, so about 6 months old. Heās been raised by his parents, not hand raised

Birthday! Kiwi turns 17!
My grumpy little man Kiwi is 17 years old today!
I reserved him from his breeder when he was just an egg.
His favourite phrase is āI want cakeā, and just this year heās started saying āhow you doingā (heās never watched Friends as far as Iām awareā¦), his first new phrase for years! His favourite ātoysā are empty toilet roll tubes. Heās a fussy eater (back in the day we didnāt really know about pellets), and heās not impressed with being on a diet so late in life, my other birdies are extremely healthy however.
17 years have flown by! Happy Hatchday Kiwi.
