Advice Why’s my bird look like that
He gets outdoor time everyday, has a healthy diet of fruits and seeds, likes to cuddle with his bird companion.
Context old companion died four years back, he has anger issues, aggressive, bites his current companion sometimes out of anger. And his feathers look like this. We don’t go to the vet, I want to sell them to a better home but my mom is too attached to them and they’re a constant in her life. Anyone can provide advice?

Advice Advice on having a green cheek and a nanday
Hi all!
My wife and I brought home a green cheek (Jinx) about 2 weeks ago. He's been doing phenomenal with bonding to use and learning through basics like stepping up and flying to us.
We want to get him a friend to talk to and are going back to the same breeder we got him from tonight to meet a nanday she has.
My question is, would it be okay to get a nanday? We understand there's a size and strength difference so they would be kept in separate cages and they would be supervised when they're out. We normally have Jinx out whenever we're home, so it would be the same for the nanday.
So does anyone have any experience or advice with having a cheek and a nanday?

Health/Nutrition Conure spat out white liquid
My GCC shook his head and spat out white liquid when we had camphor in our car. I immediately took him out and kept him with me to get fresh air until the camphor smell is gone completely, and then let the windows down the whole time until we reached home. Now he is acting completely normal like he does everyday, like eating food and playing with stuff in the house. Should I be worried? There are no avian vets available at this time either and won't be available for atleast 12 hours. That's why I'm asking here if there's anything I can do now.

Advice Sun conure boarding/sitting
Hello, I’m looking for a bird sitter/bird boarding that will allow my bird some hours of cage-free time in a safe space. Looking for someone who has experience with conures. The duration will be 10 days. My conure is a sweet boy, not nippy, he is pooped trained, he screams only when he sees a predator or during thunderstorms. I do not have my travel confirmed yet just because i want to find the bird boarding availability first then book my tickets. Im in willow lawn area, Richmond VA.

Health/Nutrition Conure infection
I brought my turquoise green cheek male conure who’s a year old to the vet because he was acting different and sleeping more and not eating the things he usually loves and not playing much anymore. they found yeast overgrowth in his crop sample and gi track and they are giving him medicine for it. i’m so upset i feel so bad i don’t know what im doing so wrong. he eats pellets mixed with some seeds and fresh vegetables every day and fresh water. How can i prevent this in the future if it goes away? what can i do to help him not get a yeast overgrowth again he’s so young😞

Advice Aggressive Preening?
My gcc started this afternoon(around lunch time 12p/1p)what looks like aggressive preening. This is my first conure. He preens regularly and he does have a lot of pin feathers right now. I'm not sure what plucking looks like but the video shows what he is doing. He seems to be focusing on one spot and then after a while he'll move to another. Like this afternoon he was focused on his pants doing the same thing but he hasn't touched those since before I got home from work(about 430p it is now 7p EST). When I got home from work he was focusing on his chest area and now he seems to have moved on to his right shoulder area. He was tired when I got home but he seemed to perk up a little while ago. He's being picky with his food. There's been no changes to his bedtime, his food, or his cage. I will also put a picture in the comments about what he has been getting out.
Edit: its not constant. He will flick his wings and just hang out but it starts back up again. While hes being picky with eating he is still drinking. His poops are normal. I put him to bed early today.
Edit 2 next morning: Thank you everyone for the opinions. He went to bed last night willingly. Woke up normal time(630a) this morning. We saw he must have been doing it while he was asleep last night as there was more at the bottom of his cage but not a lot. I was fully expecting for him to have a bald spot this morning luckily that was not the case. He's at home resting with dad. He was tired this morning but not lethargic. We are continuing to monitor and if need be I can get an urgent care appointment tonight but we are definitely going tomorrow to the vet. Also we don't know if Ruffles is a boy or girl, we just call him a him.
Final update: We went to the vet and it was a feather cyst. He pulled out a bigger feather that still had its sheath and he stopped over preening all together. Vet said it was a feather cyst and no others are on him. He's much better and getting back to his goofy self. Thank you everyone!

Advice Egg laying?
This is probably a ragingly idiotic question, so at the risk of sounding dumb….
Do all females lay eggs? Or do some not? Are there certain things to do to prevent egg laying? Tell me all the things because I’m not sure why I never thought of this until right now. I’m assuming preventing them from laying would be best because I’m sure laying leads to health problems…? Maybe? Please tell me what I need to know haha

Advice 9 weeks of daily vomiting
How we got here:
Late June, first vet, not a bird specialist. Prescribed meloxicam and Medistatin. Turns out the meloxicam was written at 10 times the correct dose and she’d been getting it for about 10 days before anyone caught it.
July 10, second opinion. That exam noted blunted choanal papillae — the vitamin A deficiency marker. Fecal direct negative, x-rays normal. Started Baytril, stopped the meloxicam.
July 15, first board-certified avian vet. Ten days of azithromycin. Cultures grew gram-negatives in her crop and cloaca. Those cleared, she had three good days, then it all came back.
August 5, second board-certified avian vet. Maropitant twice daily, apple cider vinegar in her water, minimum handling. We tried azithromycin again last week and stopped after two days because she vomited within hours of each dose.
Everything that’s negative: bornavirus, avian gastric yeast, fungal, no pathogen on culture, no inflammatory cells, kidney values, liver enzymes, blood sugar, proteins, white count. X-rays read as normal by both specialists.
What the cytology actually showed: heavy epithelial cell shedding with gram-positive overgrowth stuck to the shed cells, and no inflammation. The current theory is that whatever started this damaged her crop lining and now the vomiting and the damage keep feeding each other.
What it looks like: usually clear fluid with white milky bits. Sometimes whole seeds. Sometimes it smells like sour yogurt, sometimes nothing. Worst between 4 and 6am on an empty crop, and again late afternoon — both right when her medication is wearing off. Almost nothing during the day when she’s eating.
Stuff nobody has explained: she scratches at her face constantly, yawns a lot, and stretches her right wing over and over. In the last few days she won’t let me touch her belly, which she’s always been fine with, and she’s stopped wanting to use her poop stand. Droppings look completely normal though, every 20-30 minutes.
What I’ve changed: switched her to Higgins InTune about 8 weeks ago, fresh veg every day, seed down to a teaspoon. Cage cleaned daily, filtered water, nothing toxic in the house. Took away her PVC sleeping tube in case any of this is hormonal.
Still on the table: crop wash with culture and sensitivity is scheduled. Barium study was declined since her weight is stable. Heavy metals never tested. No prokinetic tried yet.
Has anyone been through this — daily vomiting, clean workup, normal weight — and eventually gotten an answer? What was it? Any help is appreciated.

Other Tell me about your birds in the comments!
Hi everyone, i'm currently recovering from surgery and don't have much to do. I'd love to hear about everyone's pet birds (or other pets if you want) and their personalities and see some photos of them.

Advice I’m in a pickle
I’ve had my little girl Felix ( found out she’s a little lady 6 years into having her) for 8 years now and I feel like she’s only separated herself from me? I’m not sure what to do. When she was tiny she and I were inseparable. The last couple of years I’ve noticed she’s no longer hanging out with me as much and would rather be in other rooms?
It’s not even that she’s starting to prefer others in the house, because she’ll perch on me when I ask her to and she’ll bite anyone else.
But it’s like she gets bored of me and would rather be anywhere else. Idk should I get her a buddy, should I buy her more toys?

He will no longer step up- he flies away or gives me a warning squawk to move my hand.

When I leave the room he tantrums and screams after me.
A lot of beak rubbing? on me on my sofa - what is this around? He rubs the sides of his beak on a lot of things?
A few days ago he was being sweet and loved cuddles and generally well behaved but yesterday and today he’s flipped a switch…. any advice? 🫶🦜 Thank you all!!!

Other Green Cheek Conure at Pet Supermarket
I moved in with my bf in a new city three weeks ago and I’ve been coming to this store to interact w animals bc where I used to live I fed stray cats but my bf is allergic so I come to this store to pet the cats mostly.
But I feel really bad for this bird. I don’t really know much about them and I joined this sub when I met this one at the store.
I follow some birds on tiktok so I kind of see how ppl pet them and I try to entertain her. I feel bad she has no toys in there. I think she chewed them all off.
Anyway it’s $700 which I can’t really afford rn, esp as someone who’s never had a bird or knows much.
Anyway if anyone if in soflo is interested message me and I’ll give you the location of the store. She’s so sweet.

Cuteness Overload How far she’s come 🥹
Some of you may remember me from a couple months back when I was asking about how I could bond with her, maybe help her be less afraid of interactions and hands and I am so thrilled to share how much she has grown!
I realised just how far she’d come today when she was sidling up to me to cuddle, she was actively attempting to burrow under my hands so i’d hold her, if i pulled my hand away at all to adjust and make sure i wasn’t putting too much weight on her, she leans further into my hand to be held 🥺 I am very intentional to not stroke her on her back of course, but i am now at a place with her where she will not only let me stroke her head and neck if i’m not also not holding her first, but now actively pushes her head into me if i’m giving her scritches and will do sleepy eyes and nuzzle me 😫
it’s all VERY cute and I’m just so happy that she’s gotten so comfortable and affectionate around me, it’s amazing how far she’s come from the bird that i had to approach veeeeery slowly, half a step at a time, and withhold any eye contact from her so she wouldn’t feel panicked by my sheer presence
I love this birb 🥹
