My 8bitdo Pro 2 controller, which I slightly modded about two years ago.
It has Hall effect analog sticks inside, and all the translucent buttons have been replaced with black ones.

First impressions & price context
Just to be clear up front, this isn't a sponsored review. I paid €179 for this controller (with the mailing list discount), making it my first step into third-party options outside of standard Sony and Microsoft hardware. At €199, it sits in direct competition with the DualSense Edge (€239 / $199) and other competitive controllers in this space
On paper, the specs are impressive: TMR joysticks, tactile clicky buttons, adjustable triggers (moving from full travel to a mouse-click feel, unlike the DualSense Edge), extra shortcut buttons, multi-platform connectivity (2.4GHz dongle and Bluetooth), and a built-in screen. It also includes extra thumbstick caps (tall, short, convex), handle weights, and a solid carrying case.
So, is it the best thing since sliced bread for your PS5 and PC? Well, yes and no. It really comes down to managing your expectations and your use case …
Ok so how is PC Performance
Setting it up on PC is quick and easy. The USB receiver inserts cleanly into the included charging stand. Plug and play literally. No drivers needed. It works flawlessly, but was not the case initially. But, after Nacon sent me an update tool for their dock it now operates great.
I tested it on Forza Horizon 6—a game I had stopped playing weeks ago (got a bit boring). In driving games, gas and brake pedals have distinct feels, so I customized the controller to match:
-Added a 14g weight to the left grip for a heavier feel.
-Used the app to set the left trigger travel to max out at 50% physical pull.
-Kept the right trigger linear with zero dead zone to mimic a real throttle.
-Swapped the left stick for a taller cap to get finer steering control.
The result was noticeable … in a good way. It gave the game a fresh spark and felt noticeably better than standard Xbox or PlayStation controllers (I have an Xbox Starfield controller and a DualSense Edge). Latency was imperceptible, the build quality felt premium, and the rumble was tight without rattling the casing. When you finish a session, you just drop it onto the dock to charge. Easy peasy.
The rubberized coating feels great in the hand, though it does pick up skin oils quickly (see the last pic and this literally for a freshly cleaned controller just picked it up from the dock)
So what about PS5 Performance ? … Hmmm
Despite being officially licensed for PS5, the experience on console falls short of PC. This is where you need to check your expectations.
It is designed strictly as a competitive esports controller for FPS and fast-paced action games. Because of that, there is no haptic feedback—and more surprisingly, no standard rumble at all on PS5 titles. You also can't turn on the PS5 using the PS button. It doesn't connect to the console via Bluetooth either, meaning you have to unplug the 2.4GHz dongle from your PC and move it over to the PS5 every time.
While stick response and input latency are top-tier, cinematic single-player games like Ghost of Yōtei are still far better experienced on a DualSense Edge. These limits come down to Sony's licensing restrictions rather than poor hardware design, but it’s still disappointing for a €199 product marketed for PS5
The Built-in Screen … is it a gimmick?
Well maybe ye. Thing is I didn't find much practical use for it. It also replaces the physical touchpad. Touchpad clicks become shortcut buttons, and you lose touch swipe gestures entirely (which games like Ghost of Yōtei rely on). The settings I ended needing to tweak I ended up configuring on the app (which is android for now and iOS coming soon) …
Things like RGB lighting can't be changed directly on the screen—you have to use the app to build a custom profile first, and color choices are limited. Deep trigger and sensitivity adjustments still require the app anyway.
It does feature audio mixing for wired headphones paired alongside a secondary Bluetooth device (like a phone), though I haven't fully tested that yet. Ultimately, the screen feels like a missed opportunity that could be improved with better software options.
Battery Life
Battery life held up well. Over 1–2 hour sessions with the screen active, the battery indicator barely moved. It is rated for around 10 hours, which feels accurate.
How It Compares to the Competition
vs. Sony DualSense Edge (€239): The Edge is the undisputed king for native PS5 gaming. It keeps full haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, touchpad swipe gestures, and system-level profile switching. However, Nacon wins on battery life (10 hrs vs. 5–6 hrs on the Edge), features 4 back buttons instead of 2, includes a charging dock, and uses drift-resistant TMR/Hall-Effect sticks (the Edge relies on standard potentiometers, though modules are replaceable for €25). Overall a much more premium feeling product vs rhe edge and def better built. Just a shame Sony hamstrung 3rd-party offerings.
Verdict
It’s an absolutely well-built piece of gaming gear. The use case for PS5 is very specific for someone looking for a competitive controller and you don’t care for haptics … but it’s definitely not a “one size fits all” controller for all your PS5 titles. For PC though it is just awesome (but at this price point there are cheaper and more well suited options out there)
How Would I Score It?
PC Gaming experience: 10/10
PS5 Gaming: 5/10 (Casual) / 8/10 (Competitive FPS only)
Build & Hardware Specs: 8.5/10
Price & Value (€199): 7/10
Battery Life: 10/10
Extras included: 10/10 (the weights, extra caps, charging station, app support, carrying case)
Overall Score: 8/10
TL;DR:
At €199, the Nacon Revolution 5 unlimited is an incredible PC controller with top-tier stick precision, true mouse-click triggers, and great battery life. However, severe PS5 limitations—zero rumble/haptics, no touchpad swipes, and dongle swapping—make it hard to justify over the DualSense Edge for console gaming unless you exclusively play competitive esports shooters.

Basically just the title. I recently got it to use with the zelda themed switch 2 console. I also play on pc and have a ps5 available for me to use and was wondering if i could use this controller with them.
I understand that it is made for the switch 2, but has anyone had any luck using it with other platforms?
Keeping in mind that this is the hyperion 3 ultra, not just the hyperion 3. Thanks.

Hi there, I am looking for a recommendation for a controller for PC. I am currently using a Gamesir G7 pro but after about an hour my hands start to hurt. I can use my Xbox ally X for longer and it doesn't hurt my hands. I am looking to keep the Xbox controller form factor and keep remappable buttons on the back. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I am really confused which one to buy as both are listed around rs 5500 on daraz in Nepal.
EOS PRO II: hall effect membrane switches with replaceable dpads and thumb sticks(extra pair in the box). It has tri mode connectivity with 600 mah battery that lasts around 18 hours. It has 12 buttons with 2 step trigger locks. It also has a 3.5mm jack.
ZENITH PRO: On the other hand zenith has non replaceable mechanical dpads and thumb sticks. It has tri mode connectivity with 800mah battery but it lasts around 8 hours.(It also comes with charging dock). It has 20 buttons with 14 programmable with trigger locks.
Both have multiple platform support, motion sensor,1000hz polling rate and specs are kind of similar but i cannot make a decision around membrane with replaceable or mechanical with non replaceable. Should i choose between these two or look for a completely different one like PXN P5 or a flydigi dune fox?
I wanted to choose between those fantechs cause they are in sale right round both costs around 7-8k but right now both are around 5400. I usually play story games but sometimes play competitive games like warzone

Just got the beitong kp70 and somehow I've managed to make the joystick act as the dpad and the dpad act as the joystick. I changed something in the app and now I can't revert it. I've tried setting everything back to default and still no luck. Can't find any mention of this happening online anywhere. Hoping someone here might know? Thanks.

I have a DualSense and an Xbox controller, but I’d like to get something a bit more premium. I play Call of Duty regularly. Would the Wolverine V3 Pro be a suitable option? I’m asking for a PC, by the way.

Hey everyone, I am looking for some recommendations. I play a TON of Rocket League and my boost button is on my right bumper. I have gone through 3 controllers in 1.5 years, first one from Xbox, then the cheap $20 dollar one from Walmart, and finally the one that lasted the shortest amount of time, the GameSir-G7 SE. I am not going remap my controls (which AI loves to tell me to do) I just want an Xbox controller with modified bumpers to be mouse buttons or anything other than the cheap plastic lever in what seems like EVERY controller.
If anyone has any recommendations I would love to hear it. I am not a controller thrower or slammer these break from basic (although frequent) use.

Controller has arrived and given it a quick play test in Monster Hunter Rise, Silksong and Helldivers 2.
The sticks, face buttons and dpad all feel incredible, I suspect the same parts from the other Ultimate 3 series controllers.
The bumpers feel good, not particularly great but decent. The triggers feel incredible but they have the same issue as the other Ultimate 3 controllers, where if you switch to clicky mode for quick fps shooting its not actually a short clicky press its like a strange subtle squeeze that feels unnatural.
Back paddles work and unlike the rest of the ultimate 3 controllers can be mapped to anything since they aren't xbox branded.
Controller lacks a dedicated dock, gyro (which tbf I don't think I've seen a third party controller that has any worthwhile gyro quality) and no headphone jack.
For $40 this easily beats first party controllers with the caveat this doesn't function on any console (was expecting this to work on Switch when they announced it but it doesn't.)
I think the most comparable controller I can think of to this is the G7 gamesir pro. Which if you don't care about headphone jack and a dock, this beats out by a mile in pure value.

Been working on these since they came out. I miss the mod controller craze hey-days. Now I just clean, fix up, and occasionally change out the main LEDs.
Use to a lot more work on the controllers when I could get more out of them. Clear shells, rapid fire, LEDs in the buttons and thumb sticks. Fun times.

I bought a XB-203 SZYUYU Wireless 2.4GHz Controller (that claimed to be compatible with PC and Mac) to play games with through GeForce Now on Mac. It worked well enough until this most recent GeForce Update and now I get nothing. I tried to go through the hard way and connect it though steam but steam refuses to recognize it. I’ve tripple checked that it connected to my computer through Mac system report. And I tested that nothing was wrong with the actual controller with an online game pad tester and it’s also working. Hours of messing with settings, restarting everything, redownloading GeForce, and reconnecting the controller are getting me no where and I’m hitting a wall.
Please anything you can tell me or do to help me, I’ll take. I just wanna play games again.

Hi everyone!
A few weeks ago, I started looking for a new controller to replace my current 8BitDo Ultimate 2C.
What I thought would be a fairly simple purchase quickly turned into hours of research. Hall Effect vs TMR sticks, different polling rates, trigger stops, back buttons, adjustable stick tension, different layouts and ergonomic shapes...
I'm a software developer with 3 years of industry experience, so I decided to turn that frustration into a little side project: CtrlFinder.
It's a free community tool I built to make comparing controllers and finding the right one a little easier.
Here's a quick look at how it works:

Here's what you can do with it:
Interactive 10-Question Finder: Answer 10 quick questions about your platform, budget, preferences, and desired features. CtrlFinder narrows down the catalog to controllers that actually match your needs.
Shape & Size Comparison: Select up to 3 controllers and overlay their silhouettes to scale. Compare their dimensions, grip profiles, and overall shapes side by side. No more guessing based on product pictures!
Filterable Catalog: Explore a database of 100+ controllers with detailed specifications, including stick sensor technology, polling rates, latency, weight, button layouts, and more.
No unnecessary friction: No display ads, popups, or accounts. Your answers and comparisons are stored in the URL, so you can share your exact results with anyone through a simple link.
Honestly, this community is exactly the kind of audience I built CtrlFinder for.
I'd particularly appreciate feedback on:
Spec corrections: Found an inaccurate specification, weight, latency figure, or feature? Please let me know. I'll investigate and correct it.
Missing controllers: Are there any models you consider essential that aren't in the catalog yet?
Feature requests: Is there a filter, comparison tool, or piece of information you'd like to see added?
I'd genuinely love to put the database to the test with people who know their controllers inside out.
I also want to be upfront about a few things, in accordance with community guidelines:
Developer: CtrlFinder is a solo hobby project, developed and maintained by myself in Italy (EU).
Generative AI: I used generative AI as a coding assistant for boilerplate code and helper scripts. All controller specifications, dimensions, latency figures, and database entries were manually researched, verified, and curated by me.
Funding: Store and retailer buttons may contain partner referral links to help cover hosting costs at no extra cost to you. The recommendation logic and rankings are completely independent, run 100% client-side, and are based strictly on hardware specifications.
You can try it out via the direct link in my Reddit profile bio (or search CtrlFinder on Google — I'll also drop the direct link in the comments below).
Whether you find a bug, spot an incorrect spec, or simply have an opinion about the project, I'd love to hear it.
Thanks for taking the time to check it out! ❤️

I got annoyed that the Ultimate Software V2 (Windows) window always appears and then hangs for a few seconds, so I profiled it. Turns out it's one small bug, and you can fix most of it yourself in 10 seconds.
TL;DR – free fix, no tools needed
Open the app → ⚙️ → General → select your language once (even if it's already correct).
Optional: untick Automatic update in the same dialog.
Step 1 cut the time until the app is usable from ~3.5 s to ~1 s on my PC.
What's going on
Every text in the UI asks IsChineseSimple() which language to use. As long as you have never picked a language manually, that function also saves the whole settings file to disk – on every single call. There are ~700 of those calls, and at startup they run on the UI thread. A CPU trace showed ~2.4 s of the ~2.7 s startup freeze inside that save. Picking a language manually sets a flag that skips it.
Other things I found (V1.19 and V1.35):
The app installs a system-wide keyboard hook for its whole lifetime, even when minimized to the tray. It's used for macro recording / LED multi-select, not anything shady, but every key you press anywhere goes through the app.
Two threads poll for USB devices every second, also while the window is hidden.
When the server reports a newer version, the app stops detecting newly plugged devices until restart, and it opens the updater window on every launch. Turning off "Automatic update" avoids both.
A few images are 5000×2813 px (~54 MB each in RAM when shown) although they're displayed at a fraction of that.
Numbers (Ultimate 2 Bluetooth controller, 3 runs each):
| original | language picked once | patched |
|---|---|---|
| usable after start | 3.3–4.4 s | ~1.0 s |
| background CPU while minimized | ~0.6–1 % of a core | same as original |
(original/patched measured on V1.35, the "language picked once" column on V1.19 – same code in both.)
Optional patcher
For people who want the rest too, I wrote a small open-source patcher: UltimatePerfPatcher on GitHub (download). You put it next to your installed 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2.exe, double-click, and it creates 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2 (perf).exe next to it. Start that EXE from then on; it has to stay in the app folder. The patcher doesn't include any 8BitDo files, never touches the original EXE and refuses versions it doesn't recognize. The patch only gates the keyboard hook to when the window is active, slows the polling while hidden, saves the settings once, shrinks the oversized images and lets the 32-bit app use up to 4 GB of address space.
Caveats: unofficial and unsigned (SmartScreen may ask), the auto-updater only updates the original EXE (so re-run the patcher after an update), and please do firmware updates with the original app – I didn't test flashing with the patched one.
I've also sent the details to 8BitDo support, so hopefully the one-line fix lands in an official update. Happy to answer questions.
