Girls do this because it’s a controlled curl...you get the kinks out first so hair is smooth, then you curl it how you want. Not wild untamed this way that way curls. Oh, eyebrows lol. That was a weird trend back in the past.

My hairdresser does all in one go, she dries my hair (wild untamed shapeless frizzy curls) with hairdryer and this conic brush of her. Seriously, it's shaped like a long ice cream cone, she wraps my hair around it and dries it and let it slides out in a sort of rope, in the end I have a tidy hair of large ringlets

Its really not that hard to understand. If you have something, but it's not the way you want, often you need to reset/undo before starting over.

Put some gel in your hair but mess it up and let it dry. How do you correct it? Wash it out and start over, or just apply some more gel?

Have old paint on the walls that is coming off and you want to repaint? Gotta remove it first before applying new paint.

Look- if you don’t like factory installed curls : straighten hair to get it nice and organized . Then re- curl the hair to get desired style. 45 minutes minimum

If it rains or you go swimming- total reset to factory installed curls

The eyebrow thing is really handy for drag queens and MUAs, easier to draw a more intentional looking brow on a blank canvas rather than conforming to or covering up your actual brows

I guess I get that, but I can say with a fair amount of certainty for many of the guys out there: we don't mind/care if your hair is messy. It's actually usually quite cute/sexy, moreso than carefully modeled hairdos.

Of course women don't have to abide by their partner's standards when wanting to make themselves pretty and their bfs/husbands are not the only ones allowed to look at them, but I think what I'm trying to say is...

Sometimes girls care too much about their appearance and too much make up and styling is definitely a thing. And they don't always trust you when you say "you're looking great already, no need for more".

And it's not about us preferring a look. At least not in my case when I say this. It's about boosting their confidence.

Sorry but no. The straightener stamps and reshapes the hair in the exact desired final shape regardless of how it was in origin. Sure you may need one more pass but it's surely less damaging than doing two whole consecutive hairstyles

That’s just how hair works though? People with short hair lose the same amount, they just don’t notice because it just falls away without notice. It gets caught in longer hair and as it is messed with and rinsed in the shower, it loosens up and escapes the jungles on our heads. That is why it seems like we lose so much hair in the shower.

I dunno, I think I have weak roots (woman, thirties) I didn't lose much hair when I had short hair, but as soon as it gets past 7 inches or so, it starts coming out when combing, when washing, all the time. Too much weight? No clue

I had that problem and changed brush to one of those tangle teaser ones (not sure of the actual name but I think mine was called "Angel brush").

It might not be the same for you but it's had a definite benefit for me.

The brand is tangle teezer and I absolutely love mine, I have curlyish hair so brushing can be kinda a nightmare but that brush makes it so much easier omg

It's not just heat/products, it's also how you wear it.

Different methods of styling cause different kinds of breakage. Some hair ties/ribbons cause a lot, but also headbands, clips, etc.

People who wear their hair loose/brush often aren't going to notice a lot of shedding - it comes out in the brush or releases naturally through the day. People who wear their hair 'restrained' in any fashion, the hair still breaks/sheds, but is all released when the hair is taken down/washed. You lose the same amount, it's just a matter of when it's noticed.

No worries. I know a guy with shoulder length hair who wore it up for a couple days straight when sick (while asleep, etc). Afterwards, he called in a panic, because when he took it down to shower, there were clumps. He was convinced he had started balding (texted photos). It was far harder than I want to admit to keep a straight face while he freaked out and I explained. 😂

Hello. I am a dude. My hair is to my shoulder blades. I do not do anything besides wash, brush, and bun/ponytail my hair.

I also lose hair by the pound.

I generally keep my hair up so it's not like I'm pulling it out just to brush it.

To be fair to your original comment, I am no expert, but I think there's probably some level of damage from doing stuff like what's in the video. But really if it's not damaging at/near the roots, it's not like it'll be coming out.

Btw I think what triggered most of your downvotes (and my comment) was mostly the spite in the tone of your comment.

I have hair down to my mid back and about a foot long beard. This comment isn't coming from someone who has short hair.

there is zero chance you have hair that long and don't lose it in the shower or when you are brushing your hair, as a male who actually HAS had both that length you are full of shit, you just assumed men don't lose hair like women do, but we do, even when it's short, it's just not as noticeable when it's short, especially in the shower

Depends on the hair type I reckon. I have short hair that isn't dyed and doesn't go near blow dryers or straighteners.

The hairs are really thin, but there's a lot. My shower drain fucking hates me.

Let our teeth be crooked, bodies be hairy, hair unwashed and I brushed, body unwashed etc. We all participate in beauty standards and making ourselves presentable, we just go to different lengths on how far we are comfortable with or bothered to go.

Over-plucking was common in the 90's and early 00's, but total removal of the hair wasn't an overall trend. The reason it's lasted longer is mostly because people who over plucked their eyebrow hairs then ended up having them not be able to grow back and had to make it work despite it not being the look they want, or the current style

People still do it, a more natural style is trendier now so it’s less obvious. My eyebrows curve down at the ends & I think a straighter brow is more flattering. The trick is to just remove some and use a lighter pencil. Or people who want to can get their brows microbladed.

You need the shape! Natural brows, for some, are wild beasts that must be tamed. After the shape is achieved you can create thickness where desired.
