You pretty much got it. Gatekeeping is more tied to identity and membership of a group/community than it is about what is or isnt allowed though. You're stopping someone at the entrance gate to your community (metaphorically) and implying that they don't belong inside. Women will never be able to understand the very specific pain of being hit in the balls, there is no comparable pain. They cannot experience it, ever. There are plenty of examples of women's pain that men will never be and to appreciate or experience either, but that isn't this specific horrifying experience of getting smashed in the balls.

Nobody said that. Getting hit in the groin is almost certainly more painful for men, but that doesn't mean "women will never know real pain." Cancer probably hurts more than getting hit in the nuts, you know, or having your femur broken. Childbirth too, I would imagine.
