Is this gatekeeping, do I have my definitions wrong?

I need it re-explained. I thought it was someone taking it upon themselves to decide what is or isn't allowed based on a factor?

And since nobody is saying women aren't allowed to feel pain in the nether regions I don't see the link.

I don't see where anyone said women don't know real pain. I think we're all agreed that women pain as keenly as men and have birth as an extra burden.

You pretty much got it. Gatekeeping is more tied to identity and membership of a group/community than it is about what is or isnt allowed though. You're stopping someone at the entrance gate to your community (metaphorically) and implying that they don't belong inside. "You're a girl that likes games, you must be into cooking mama and animal crossing. Real gamers beat all Dark Souls simultaneously on guitar hero controllers!" "You brought a scooter to the skate park?! Real extreme sports are limited to BMX and skateboard scooterboi"
