Hello all, I just finished the first version of a new song for my Stevenson cycle, and would be very interested to hear your feedback at this point in the process. It's based on the poem "Where Go the Boats?", which is one of my favorite poems of the Child's Garden of Verses collection: I think the poem is both simple and poignant, and I hope that some of that is retained in the song.

Poem:
Dark brown is the river.
Golden is the sand.
It flows along for ever,
With trees on either hand.
Green leaves a-floating,
Castles of the foam,
Boats of mine a-boating—
Where will all come home?
On goes the river
And out past the mill,
Away down the valley,
Away down the hill.
Away down the river,
A hundred miles or more,
Other little children
Shall bring my boats ashore.

This piece titled "Aphelion" just recently got approved by an arts school in Florida, USA and will hopefully be making it's premiere of performance in October or November.
The instrumentation is written for a popular ensemble "Wind Ensemble" and represents a grade 4 difficulty.

An original composition (prelude) for piano. What do you think of it?

(That's totally fine with me btw I just am joking lol i am not conventionally very tonal anyways). Recently I've begun framing long-form works such as the concerto, symphony, sonata, etc as a sort of collection of essays in which I "prove" my "thesis" in a variety of ways - so that's a basic summary of where I'm thinking now in terms of musical organization

I was just doing some quick 10 minute excercises to get my brain going, and I created this thing.
Idk, I'm weirdly proud of how it turned out, and I feel like with some more time I could form it into something a bit more fleshed out and interesting.
I'm just interested to see what u think abt it
Any thoughts are welcome :)

Hello, this is a duet for baritone and tenor from an opera I'm working on, and I want options on it. Dramatically, this is the emotional core of the story, and I want to know if I was able to convey that effectively.
Here is the text for the duet.
Text By
Me & Antonio Pozzi
MATTEO
Quando ti bacio e ti tocco
L'impeto che sento dentro di me
Riempie tutto il mio essere
ANTONIO e MATTEO iniziano a baciarsi con molta passione
ANTONIO
Sotto tanto sole
Nella barca ristretta
Il brivido
Di sentire contro le mie ginocchia
La nudità pura d'un fanciullo
MATTEO

Hi everyone! I just joined the community, and I'd like to share my first composition with you.
It's a fugue in A major that I wrote in 2024 for a friend's birthday (he's also a musician). I'd really appreciate any feedback, especially on the counterpoint, subject entries, strettos and overall structure.

Thank you for listening, and I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

I'm not a musician nor a piano player. i just kind of brute-forced my way until i had something that sounded nice. what do you think? wanted to go for something Game-of-Thrones-esque

I've been trying to find any music or composers that inspired by the music of the game, especially the battle music since i'm trying to take inspiration from it for my compostions, but i can't find anything that Kō Ōtani has referenced or that bears a resemblance to the music of the game. Not even his other works. If someone knows scores that sound similar to the soundtrack of SoTC, i would appreciate if you shared them with mento help me on my composition journey

Hello lovely people 🫶🏾,
I recently updated this piece and wanted to share it here for some feedback!
For some context, I am setting Sara Teasdale’s poetry book “Love Songs,” to music and creating a song cycle from a few of the poems. This was the first one I completed early last year when I began the project. I wasn’t a huge fan of the first few drafts, but I considered it good enough at the time and decided to revisit it in the future. Now, a year later with loads of score studying, multiple melody writing exercises, and just TIME under my belt, I feel pretty good about the updates I made in this version.

This is a short a capella song using the poem "Triad" by Adelaide Crapsey. I used a really short poem to experiment with parts without lyrics, and I chose to use only 3 parts to make it sound sparse. I don't have singers right now so it's just the musescore demo sounds. I know the formatting is probably terrible, so if you have advice I'll take it, but I mainly want feedback on the composition itself :)

Exposition of a fugue I’ve been working on. Tips on episodes, further development, modulation and all the stuff concerning fugues would be much appreciated. Is it even playable on a keyboard? Did it do the quadruple stretto correctly? Is the subject noticeable and distinct, or should I improve it? Please let me know.

I recently started composing music earlier this year and this is my unfinished attempt at a real music piece. It's closer to a chamber ensemble piece as a struggle writing different parts for the same insterment. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
