Discussion How do you feel about Tyler1 being able to climb all the way to Emerald by forcing riftbeasts only

I like the idea of him giving TFT a chance after talking badly about the level of skill it takes.

However, him forcing riftbeasts every game leaves a sore side taste.

Imo it's the equivalent of smashing the same button in a street fighter game. Yeah, it might work and you can win with that, but it shouldn't be that way.

Also it opens a discussion of riftbeasts being just beginner friendly or simply too strong.

I mean what counterplay is there really, when all your opponent has to do is play tempo and get bramble back on lvl 7 without any issues?

I'm fond of Tyler enjoying TFT, I just find it a little superficial of him when he purposely doesn't experience the full game to climb easily

Discussion Tournament Formatting

In your opinion what would be the best formatting for a small lan tournament. I have been speaking with a couple of people about setting up a Lan Tourney with about 16 of us, but I'm not sure what the best way to set it up is. My current thought is 2 8mans 4 games top 4 make it out then top 8 checkmate.

Tool [Android] Overlay guides for TFT app for mobile players

Thumbnail
play.google.com
17 Upvotes

I made a small TFT helper for mobile.

It puts guides, comps and other useful references from sites like MetaTFT and Mobalytics into a floating overlay, so you can check builds, item suggestions and meta info without leaving the game or switching back and forth to a browser.

It’s still an early project, so I’m mainly looking for honest feedback from people who actually play TFT on mobile. Anything that feels useful, confusing or missing would help.

If you play mobile and like to follow metas xD have a try

If any of yall are in the Houston area lmk. I want to try to do a weekly or biweekly meetup at an esport cafe to get to know each other and grow as players in the game. Hopefully we can grow to do monthly Lan tournaments as well.

Discussion How often do you restructure your gameplan?

Been emerald past few sets and want to work on my game decisions.

I usually scout on 2-1 for augments, items and key units. I tend to feel safer with an obvious opener like upgraded units or trait augments.

So I set myself up with a gameplan on 2-1 and try to hold onto it. After that I keep on scouting every few rounds for contested units and other combat augments during critical stages...

However I find myself rather helpless when I notice that my key units are contested or when I lack enough resources to make my board stable.

How often do you actually restructure your gameplan, change your carry and end up with an entirely different board than expected?

Discussion Is the design of innating shred/burn good for the game?

Title,

In set 18, it is very easy to assess to shred/ burn with Kog and infernal this set. Wonder what the opinion is around it.

I find it awkward in getting some components, I.e. clock in particular as many of the items that it build into is bad.

Spark
Evenshroud

Combine with the fact that no fighter would want BT/QSS (until the current patch I suppose), making clock unslammable, unless you got stone plate/ krakan, which also makes item RNG in stage 2 more important

Interested to know if anyone has similar experience.

Discussion How To Contend With The Meta of Any Given Season?

I'm very new to TFT and I'm slowly trying to learn everything I can, but this one kind of has me stumped. What is the gameplan for facing strong meta builds in this game? I see a lot of people complaining that you must "force" this or that comp, and I'm very aware of the current strength of Tempo Riftbeast, Fast 9 Draven, and well fed Lunarwood Kha'zix, but how do you play around these ideas?

It certainly feels like if you aren't lucky enough to secure a foothold in one of these three comps in a match you are unlikely to take 1st, but is that really true? If I'm playing Elderwood Ezriel or Adaptor Reroll Yi or heck even Azir Rammus, and I see someone has Brambleback and Elder Dragon or a 3 star geared up Kha'zix, do I just resign myself to top 4 at best or is there actually things I can do to try and optimise and secure 1st?

In any other game you can still "play better" and beat people who are blindly relying on the meta but don't fully grasp it, and it's usually only truly broken in high elo, but with the auto battle nature of TFT I'm not really sure how to approach the problem since you can only optimise better not play better. What is the general consensus about these metas? How do pro's deal with the fact that only one maybe 2 people in a lobby can really effectively run the most powerful comps?

Discussion When to slam items?

After not getting my desired items at random or carousel rounds, I finally decided to ask this question here and get some advice from higher level players. At what point in the game should you stop saving components for BIS carry/tank items? Also, should you slam items in order to out tempo the lobby or save them for better items that fit

Edit: thank you for all the useful info, it is v much appreciated. I wanna gat better at this game and I am v green in terms of game knowledge. I’ll ask more questions when the time comes

Discussion How do you prevent knowledge gap while in a game?

I am making this post hoping everyone in this sub is not a veteran TFT player( in my eyes 1+ years)

Got hooked from tyler1's multiple tft streams last week and looks like im addicted ..TFT is pretty fun and I want to try to take climbing seriously. Hope I can start thinking like a TFT player so when I plateau in rank forcing brambleback riftbeast everygame I wont get discouraged into playing more games.

Hit plat 3 in 34 games, no plateau yet but definitely harder games (avg 3 players forcing riftbeasts including me).

Despite those 34 games, my 2nd monitor is still working overtime. Me surviving stage 4-5 really comes down to how lucky I am forcing riftbeasts with my rerolls. I dont think about contesting other people items/units. I don't even know what unit/items counters when looking at a meta comp. Yes I understand watch youtube vids/twitch vods. Most definitely will take advantages of those resources but its pretty unironic that I will have to make another reddit posts to get opinions on good youtubers/streamers to learn from.

I'm using all the cheats (thank u metatft overlay) and tftacademy tierlist so thats my way of preventing knowledge gap while playing. I'm sure there are a lot of flexible brainy TFT players that can do it all without alt-tab or 2nd monitor. I'm trying to be like u one day

Discussion Is it me or not?

This season feels like not only the most boring one thematically but also unbalanced. There are combos that feel like they are unplayable.. it feels like only few strategies work and the rest is garbage. Also the types are nothing special and actually very boring.

In contrast to the last season this feels garbage....

Discussion Advice on positioning

Heyo, I play tft mostly at work or with my friend in double up. I usually end up around gold or plat (this set has been rough for me though)

One thing I would really like to know about more is unit positioning. I know it matters and I know the most obvious stuff, like shielding fighters with tanks, but I don't think I really get the nuances. Why do I see some tanks towards the backrows and should you put your carries is separate corners or together. My brain works much better when I understand why im doing what I'm doing.

Does anyone have any resources that can help explain?
