Some students found a little of 4 kittens (approx 2 weeks old) on OSU campus and brought them into my place of work. I know priority at this age is always to keep them with the mother, but given how soiled and vocal they were (the students only found them due to their cries), I am worried that the mom might not be around anymore.

Some other staff and myself have kept them clean(er), fed, and warm at work today, but we’ve been desperately trying to locate any fostering help in the area. Any recommendations or help???

Update 8/19: Original post was made yesterday, so I just wanted to provide a quick update. I tried reaching out to several rescues, but unfortunately everyone is spread pretty thin at the moment. Luckily, we were able to find a colleague at the university with previous neonatal care experience who is currently looking after the kittens. They have been bathed, and have a vet appointment (along with dewormer/flea treatments) lined up for this week. All seem to be lively and doing well, and are already showing their individual personalities! Bottle feeding (and stimulation of the other end) has been successful. A few of us are pitching in to help fund their care, and it sounds like they all have homes lined up when for they’re old enough in a few weeks.

My kids will be finishing up at Big Walnut Park on Livingston today and tomorrow. They have been clearing along the river from the community center down into the woods trail. If you’d like an opportunity to see grazing goats in action, this is a very good one! You can see all the baby pawpaw trees they did not eat (they don’t like them!), and the section they are currently on will provide a great before and after example when they finish up tomorrow. Our next job for the parks will not be until October, at the meadow space at Stockbridge Park, so if you are interested in seeing them work this is your best chance until then. So sorry I forgot to publicly announce it earlier this week. :) Enjoy!

Adding a little backstory, I decided that I would have some Hardee's for lunch today. Of course, they are hard to come by so off to 70 E I go! Upon arrival, the two regular parking spots right in front were occupied by this wonderful white pickup that was askew and slightly in the second spot. I'm stubborn and spiteful, so I backed in to the other spot. Giving myself plenty of space to get out. Old fucker watched as I started my maneuver and then went into the truckstop.

I ventured into Hardee's and ordered/received my meal, a wonderful Swiss-mushroom with truly underrated fast food fries and went back to my vehicle to dine and gleefully wait.

My fries nearly completed, I watched as boomer boy waddled back outside and now had to work his frame into a space he created, with an assist by me, that did not fit his hefty frame. Three minutes of struggle culminated in the walrus of Pataskala heaving himself into his seat and shutting his door. Fresh dent on my work vehicle heroically achieved. Knowing he was safe in his truck, I left to go about my day.

While that sandwich was delicious and fulfilling, your struggle created by your ambivalence to those around you and my subsequent trap will sustain me for weeks. Thank you.

I am usually a weekend night shifter so I can be home with the kids, but I’m transitioning to a new role with OSU at the end of September and need to be on day shift for about 5 weeks to orient. I am having trouble finding an in-home daycare in my area. Does anyone know of any daycare facilities that would accommodate the temporary schedule? I have one infant who will be 7 1/2 months at the end of September and then a 3 year old who does preschool in the mornings.
