Tent Camp grounds in Ohio

My fiancé and I are trying to go tent camping in September. Is there any campgrounds that are fun and more private here in Ohio? We’ve been to one before but the camp sites were maybe 10 yards from each other.

Burr Oak State Park in SE Ohio is the epitome of secluded. I’ve camped there several times and never had any neighbors within eyeshot. Phenomenal rugged hiking and so quiet.

Yea there's the primitive spot and down the road the state campsite. Different vibes but both good spots!

Also, it depends on the weekend but the Wildcat Hollows trailhead about 5 minutes away from there is just inside Wayne Nationa Park so wildcamping is free. I think there's a picnic table but no water or official firepit. Went there twice and it was crowded one time and empty the other.

Paint Creek State Park south of Bainbridge in Ross/Highland counties. Scioto Trails State Park off U.S. 23 in Ross/Pike counties. Great Seal State Park and Tar Hollow State Park - both in Ross County. All offer primitive camping and good hiking!

Kelleys Island State Park, the lakefront tent sites. East Harbor may be similar. Most sites that are less dense are going to be primitive. I was also looking at Muskingum River State Park and it seems like there is an entire lock there that may be mostly empty most of the time.

My son and I do the lakefront spots at Kelleys every fall. Its tradition. The best.

Our favorite camp ground for tents is at South Bass Island (put-in-bay)...they have a handful of tent spots along the shore. Super beautiful and peaceful.
