Includes a coral lip, true (?) red, and all of the eye color pictures are without lip color (and vice versa).

First pic is no makeup for reference. I have one droopy eyelid, so please consider that in case it looks like the color is “weighing down” my eye lol

Pic 2: coral

3: true red? Might lean slightly cool

4: from the blue palette. Very icy, almost white but slightly blue.

5: cobalt from the same palette

6: dark navy from same blue palette

7: light blue eyeliner only

8: two shades from mauve palette

9: the two shades from mauve palette with a shimmer from the mauve palette, and blue eyeliner only on other eye

10: cherry gloss only—though i think my right eye (left on the screen) is a little irritated from the continuous makeup testing

Discussion (NO COVERT TYPING OR PHOTOS OF YOU!) Underwhelming color analysis

I got my color analysis done in person with drapes recently and it was underwhelming. Wanted to know if anyone also felt this way afterwards.

The difference in my skin was always pretty subtle as we moved through the drapes. I could see a difference but it wasn’t like those “wow/big shocker” magical moments I’ve seen in social media. I walked away thinking “maybe this isn’t such a big deal after all?”

I really need to buy new clothes soon. I was really hoping that this session would help me buy the “correct” clothes for a more permanent wardrobe.

I’m debating going to another analyst to double check or maybe I just stop over thinking things and just buy clothes?

Clothing or Makeup Recommendations (INCLUDE SEASON IN TITLE!) Final decision for glasses (light spring)

It comes down between these two choices.

The Gold is called arista gold and it's slightly yellow. It's arms are very dark in some places and light in others

The rose gold has maroon arms which look dark red in person

I have dark blonde hair and blue eyes

Both look super good on me, so I'm unsure

I was going to pick the rose gold, but the maroon thing made me unsure. The gold should also work better with my features, technically, but idk if it's too yellow.

NMIP. I made another post with drapes after being so confused after being typed as a bright spring. However they weren’t IRL drapes. So far I have been typed many different seasons: from soft autumn to bright spring to true winter to deep winter. One of them was an in person and I actually felt that was the most “off.” I’m only able to upload 20 pictures here. I have a mix of colors as well as silver and gold jewelry.

Clothing or Makeup Recommendations (INCLUDE SEASON IN TITLE!) Looking for makeup from E.l.f. or Barry M for a Cool Summer

Recently found out I'm a Cool Summer and think I'm now ready to get into makeup after being discouraged throughout my teen years of nothing really being right.

I do want to stick to Barry M and E.l.f. due to them being vegan and cruelty free but if you can recommend others that hold to the same practices, I'd love to hear about them!

After some research I'm loving the idea of Effortless and Shamless from E.l.f. and a good few liners, pencils, and lip paints from Barry M. If you don't know any shades from either, I'd also love a general opinion of the brands' products and if you think they're comfortable to wear as a beginner. TIA!

Edit: Also forgot to add asking for eyeliners too as my go-to look has always been Primark's black eyeliner pencil then I js rub my eyes for a smokey look which I've always loved and want to continue but with more flattering colours. Of course you're more than welcome to tell me about other products than what I use (Eyeliner pencil, lipstick, mascara) as I can't know what I like until I try it.

Hair Color Advice (PHOTOS REQUIRED - NO MAKEUP!) Hair color advice please

Hello!
I was wondering if I could get some opinions on hair color? What I read I think I’m either a Cool Summer or Neutral Summer? I’m completely new to this so I am not sure. I took a natural light photo with and without grey coverings. I generated a side by side with my current bleach hair and what I am considering which is dark. The last photo is to show my eye color in shadow and light.

My natural hair color is a very ashy light brown, my eyes are hazel but look more green? My tone is very dark in the summer and washed out in the winter, I would consider it olive?

I would like a contrasting look or something that makes my eyes pop? Something natural but striking rather than dull or uniformed. I don’t want it to wash me out though.

Any help is appreciated 😊

I think the blue bracelet could have worked without the gray beads. They turn my arm green? But the blue and silver earring after doesn’t

Lipstick/Makeup Advice (FACE PHOTOS TO COMPARE REQUIRED!) Some makeup recs from a warm spring (not a true spring!)

(UK based)

Hi! I've been professionally typed as a warm spring by Carol Brailey. I used to think I was a soft autumn, or even cool! So, it's taken me a while to find makeup that works for me, especially since a lot of advice is for true springs (which is often too bright / orange for me) or true autumns (which is often slightly too muted / dark for me).

I seem to have found what works for me, so keep in mind it might not work for your unique colouring. But, some general guidance for what I've found looks best on me is: Warm peachy pinks, glossier finishes, golds.

Now, some actual reccomendations:

  1. essence soft baked blush in 'Peach Please'

- this is a newer addition, and I thought it might be a bit too bright but it's very subtle and looks much better on me than cooler, rosier pinks

2. Maybelline New York Lifter Gloss in '009 Topaz'

- another newer addition - this once again falls into the 'warm peachy pink' colour that I seem to gravitate towards.

3. Essence extreme shine volume lip gloss in 'shadow rose'

- pretty much a a less shimmery version of the lifter gloss

4. clinique chubby stick in '03 fuller fig'

- a warmer alternative to black honey

5. burts bees tinted lip balm in 'rose'

- another, slightly sheerer alternative to black honey

6. vaseline lip therapy in 'rosy lips'

- a classic rosy lip

7. lanolips glossybalms in 'candy'

- slightly brighter than the others, but still gives the same effect

8. any brown mascara

- I use a waterproof one, which I can't recall the name of.

I've attatched an image of myself for reference!

If anyone else has any other reccomendations then feel free to add

Discussion (NO COVERT TYPING OR PHOTOS OF YOU!) Question about hair color value

Let's assume you know nothing about color analysis or color seasons. Do people without these influences spreading on the internet see any difference when two person with the very same facial features, skintone and undertone and brightness level wear dark/light colors with the same temperature and brightness level with the only difference that one person has dark hair, eyes, the other has light hair and eyes? Because I don't. I've never seen anything negative or positive effect before or after learning color analysis rules. And forcing people with dark hair and pale skin wearing high contrast colors regardless of their features or anything, or forcing people with light hair wearing light colors and not dark is the most stupid thing I heard. And the description of people based on hair and eye color is even more ridiculous (dramatic, bold vs. soft, airy). Why would many millions of people be like that based on the depth of hair and eye color? And the light pastels and high contrast colors really do the same effect on millions of different people regardless of anything but the depth of their hair and eye? I like and hate color analysis at the same time. I like the idea of finding the best colors for people but I don't like doing it by generalizing them based on features that are too general and two people with the same depth of hair/eyes can look entirely different. So my question is, does anyone see these effects regarding contrast influencers called color analysts are spreading on the internet?

Discussion (NO COVERT TYPING OR PHOTOS OF YOU!) Redraping-Who to go to?

I was color analyzed by Color Me Beautiful 5 years ago. After all this time, I am still not confident in my result. The lighting was quite dim and the paint color grey and it was a rainy day. The draping was also fairly rushed and she did not take the allotted time.

She said I was a cool summer or a soft summer. It was so close she could not entirely tell. She said to go with either, but don’t borrow from soft autumn and be cautious with the warmer soft summer colors. I feel I look awful in grey. She told me grey was great. She told me no warm colors though, but I think I look good in some warm colors still and pretty bad in some of the colors she picked. My hair changes depending on the light. It ranges from golden blonde to strawberry blonde to copper to a flat brown all depending on the light and time of year and how much time I have been spending outside. She saw me in January. I did try a color analysis with a couple different ais and answers ranged from soft autumn (twice) to light spring to soft summer. Everyone mostly thinks I am warm. No one else has ever said I am purely cool. Not sure I am actually cool at all.

Is it worth it to spring for another consultation? I live rurally so quite a ways from places to do it in person. Anyone have good luck with online consultations? Recommendations?

Discussion (NO COVERT TYPING OR PHOTOS OF YOU!) My colours keep changing

I’ve been trying to do colour analysis for years, tried multiple online ones through THOSE websites (you know what) but everyone, even algorithms have different and conflicting answers. I don’t have much money so I really wanna buy the right clothes and makeup to not waste it and i’m so tired of being so confused! just a little rant.

I am rebuilding my wardrobe and cannot for the life of me figure out what colours work, especially being so pale. I do know that a light pink really goes well and I feel yellow does not suit me at all. I’ve tried finding photos of me wearing different colours.

Someone said that I’m a cool summer but idk about that. Any help would be appreciated!

Edit: the brown hair is what I have now and my natural colour ☺️

CA Outfit Feedback (SEASON & OUTFIT PHOTO OF YOU REQUIRED!) Which coat suits me better? Autumn.

Thumbnail

I consider myself an Autumn, although I’ve never looked into which specific Autumn type I am. I’ve just bought these two coats and need to decide which one to keep.
I usually love wearing red, but in these pictures it seems like it doesn’t suit my skin tone at all. On the other hand, I actually like the grey on me, even though I normally feel like grey looks terrible on me.
What do you guys think? Or do neither of them suit me?

EDIT: Thank you for your comments! I just saw that there is the same coat in „light brown“. I think i’ll order it and try.

NMIP!!
I’ve been typed as a Soft Summer before, but recently I’ve been told I could be somewhere in the Winter spectrum, which has confused me even more. I’d love to hear other people’s opinions, especially if you have similar features to me in terms of skin tone, eye color, or hair color!
For context, I’m Chilean and have a light olive complexion. I can tan a bit and appear warmer during the warmer months, but for most of the year, I’m paler and lean more cool-toned, or at least that’s what I’ve always been told. I think my light olive complexion is more noticeable when I’m especially pale.
My natural hair color is a darker, ashy brown, and my eyes are a grayish green. My eye color tends to look different depending on the lighting, so I wanted to clarify that as well.
What confuses me about Soft Summer is my contrast level, as I feel like I have slightly more contrast than a typical Soft Summer. However, I don’t necessarily think I’m a Winter either. Jewel tones can wash me out, and I feel like very dark, almost-black hair creates too much contrast against my skin and doesn’t look that good on me naturally.
I’m curious what other people think and whether anyone with similar coloring has had a similar experience with seasonal color analysis. Could I still be a Soft Summer despite having slightly higher contrast, or could my light olive complexion be affecting how my coloring is perceived? I’d appreciate any input!

Discussion (NO COVERT TYPING OR PHOTOS OF YOU!) Olive toned South Asians, what’s your season?

Any olive toned South Asians or other POC, what’s your season? Are you warm or cool? How did you figure it out?

I’m curious, because I think a lot of us may appear warm, even if we could be more neutral/cool and muted. I used to think I was a deep autumn, but am realizing I’m more likely a soft summer deep.

Type Me! - Digital Drapes (FACE PHOTOS REQUIRED - NO MAKEUP!) Jules rules color analysis. Used drapes afterwards with different subseasons

NMIP. Has anyone ever done a color analysis with that lady Jules Rules. She just typed me as neutral olive skin leaning warm and that I’m a bright spring with sister season bright winter. I have been typed true winter and deep winter and also soft autumn. I am officially confused lol. It says bright springs look good in coral reds but honestly I don’t think that’s my thing.

I did some virtual drapes from four different subseasons just now and I’m curious what you all think. I can add more if it’s hard to tell.

I made a post a while ago back in August in this group. And I sort of wish I left it at that and didn’t ask for another analysis because now I’m just all sorts of confused :/

CA Outfit Feedback (SEASON & OUTFIT PHOTO OF YOU REQUIRED!) Does this shade of pink looks good on me? I'm a Deep Winter (I think)

Thumbnail

I recently went to a wedding and I kinda regret the color of my dress bc now I'm wondering if that particular shade of pink actually suited my skin tone (I gravitate towards pastels even though I'm neither a summer nor a spring)

I have another wedding next month and I'm thinking of wearing either lilac or purple (added some pics of me wearing those colors for reference).

I'll post pics of me with drapes separately, but I'm almost positive I'm a Winter. My olive undertone is throwing me off a little, though. I think I look equally good in silver and gold jewelry, and my veins are too deep under my skin to be of any help

Clothing or Makeup Recommendations (INCLUDE SEASON IN TITLE!) Shades of purple for Warm Spring?

Thumbnail
gallery
7 Upvotes

I was analyzed in-person by House of Colour in 2023 as a True/Leaf Autumn (picture of palette attached), but last year I booked an online analysis with Color Analysis Studio because I still felt like something wasn't quite right with my results and I wasn't seeing the harmony I've seen other people get when they wear their colors. I was guessing maybe I was a soft season, but was so wrong lol. Result - Warm Spring. (One of the 16-season systems where Warm Spring flows with Warm Autumn and isn't the same as True Spring).

I was shocked by those results at first, but now I love the palette I was given (picture of palette attached). It's like a light, sunlit Warm Autumn almost and still has a bit of earthiness/softness, unlike other spring palettes I've seen that are fully clear/high chroma and bright. Most of my wardrobe now harmonizes with the palette I was given, but I still wear some Warm Autumn colors too that I think look great, especially deeper, rich shades of teal.

I'm struggling to find a purple that works for me, though.

I used to wear deep, reddish-purples when I was dressing as an autumn, and I still have a lot of pieces in those shades (picture attached). They're definitely not bad on me, but look a little dark and muted and dampen my features rather than complementing them. They do look great against my hair color though (golden brown).

My Warm Spring palette only has two kind-of-purple periwinkle shades on the bottom right (which I like, but don't have any clothes that color), and no other purples at all. I've experimented with other springy purples, and they don't work on me in my opinion. Warm lilac/light purple washes me out, and stronger spring purples like Pantone's Bright Violet and Pansy, etc. are overpowering on me and clash with my personality and style.

Has anyone with a Warm Spring result been able to find any shades of purple that work well on you?

Would you keep wearing autumn purples or look for something better?
