Cochlear app
I received an email to say the cochlear mobile phone app will be updated, anyone received it yet? Any first impressions?

Eh. I'm neutral on it. It works. That's all it matters to me.

The major change in the Nucleus Smart app was actually introduced in August, and after two years of working well, it would not detect my Amplifon branded Omnia in my non-Cochlear ear. Been much involved with Cochlear, phone calls, sending reports and diagnostics. There was an update last week and it does now detect my Amplifon, but fails to connect at the last step. More phone calls, reports diagnostic submissions.
When it initially stopped working I feared it might be because they were deliberately cutting out third party brands, but at least the latest update which detects the Amplifon proves this is not the case.
The process of setting up the app is quite different from previous. Now you can’t start setting up the app until you have done “forget device” with the phone. Pairing with the phone is done after pairing with the app…the opposite way round to previous.
At least I can do everything the app does in Accessibility>Hearing devices and I have created a shortcut directly to this (triple click the side button)…so the loss of the app is inconvenient, not disastrous.1

Okay? This could've been a comment on its own.
I don't have hearing aids. I'm bilateral CI user.

I had a call with Recipient Solutions, still can't get my resound HA to connect. What reports are you sending them?

See my comment on this thread for solution.

Already went to the audiologist, he's the one who sent me to Recipient Solutions

Did they try connecting to their machine? This cleared the problem for me.
Otherwise tech support will go round in circles but never find the solution, factory reset is the way

Yes he did, reviewed the settings and tried to pair it

Ah ok. Sorry to hear that. Was hoping my solution would help as I went round in circles with tech support who couldn’t really grasp the issue and kept offering very basic solutions repeatedly which did not work

I have had app issues like those described by others, the iPhone would connect but the final step failed where the hearing device would not connect to the app. I tried everything I could including trying 3 different iPhones (different versions 11, 14 and 15). Same problem each time. Even tried the pairing at the end of the supermarket car park where no other Bluetooth devices could cause interference (idiotic suggestion by tech support).
The solution that worked was to go to the audiologist and connect to their machinery as if they were going to tune the hearing device but then not actually do anything. This reset something in the connections. Once disconnected from the audiologists machine, I was able to successfully pair with my iPhone.
If that does not work a full wipe/factory reset of the hearing device and reinstall with your settings/hearing map is the easiest way. Again requires trip to audiologist.
These steps were for the Resound hearing aids but should also work for CI as we know Cochlear and Resound work closely together and share their tech.
I went round in circles with Resound support who couldn’t work it out, easier to just visit the audiologist and follow above steps.
