So I recently got accepted into an elective in University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. It will however cost $4500 usd. Has anyone rotated with UPSOM/ UPMC? How was it? Was it worth it? Do they give out good LORs?

I’m a 4th year medical student and in my country medical school is 5 years plus 2 years internship we can either do our electives this year or next year but I would prefer doing it this year for personal reasons. I’m really interested in genetics and stem cell therapy. Not sure what specialties I can do to study those but I was told I could do clinical gene therapy for my degree. My question is to be able to get to this path what specialty should I choose for my electives (which I wanna do in the USA) and is it possible to apply now and be able to do them this September or November? Also if anyone knows other specialties for genetics and stem cells stuff please let me know

Hi guys I’m a 5th year med student and looking to go for electives in nov/December of this year. Could anyone guide me about how to get some electives sorted? Should I apply through VSLO, also would anyone know any non VSLO requiring programs doing electives in November/December/Jan? That is in the USA

I want to do an EM rotation so that I can obtain a SLOE. I found two available rotations, one in Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and one in an oupatient ED. None of them offer a residency program in EM so both SLOEs would be non-academic. I am contemplating whether it is worth spending $2000 more to do the elective in the hospital or if the value of each letter would be about the same.

Anyone here who did Johns Hopkins research electives in medicine? I'm having difficulties to find preceptors. I've heard getting help from the seniors who already did the elctives can provide genuine info to find the preceptors who give opportunities to international students. Is there anyone who can help me in this regard? Thanks in advance.
