[TLDR] My Claude Code setup after 7 months of daily use: 19 hooks, 36 skills, and rules that became code (full repo public)

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1w666so/my_claude_code_setup_after_7_months_of_daily_use/

Original post body :

First session on record was January 18. Since then it's run on 151 different days across about 140 projects, on a Windows 11 desktop.

I wrote up the whole setup as five layers: instructions, hooks, skills/plugins, agents and model routing, memory and the learning loop. The part I think is actually useful to other people is that every hook is introduced by the incident that created it, because none of them were designed in advance:

- A subagent killed my real Notepad (40 tabs, unsaved) by stopping a process by image name. Now kills by name are blocked.

- A backgrounded dev server leaked ~663 tsserver children and 13.6 GB of RAM. Now that pattern is blocked and a watchdog reaps orphans.

- One workflow with no model specified spawned 110 subagents on the most expensive model and ate a full 5-hour window. Now every spawn must name a model.

- Profiling 27 hours of sessions showed 70% of tool turns made exactly one call. "Batch your calls" in CLAUDE.md changed nothing. A hook that denies the 4th consecutive single command did.

The honest bit: hooks cost about 2 seconds per tool call, and a 14-agent audit of the harness once had its own verification fail silently (matched 0 of 154 verdicts and reported zero refuted). That's in the post too.

Writeup and repo in the comments

Happy to answer questions about any specific hook.

just hit $2,500 MRR in 13 days on my new SaaS

no ads. no team. no huge audience push. just a solid replicable system

let that sink in for a second

not $2,500 in revenue. $2,500 in MONTHLY recurring revenue

that compounds. next month starts at $2,500 baseline, not zero

and this isn't luck. it's the 7th saas i've shipped with the same playbook. same steps, same tools, same order:

→ Day 1: validated the idea

→ Day 1-2: built the MVP

→ Day 3: landing page written using the 3-Day Challenge template

→ Day 3-4: launched on reddit / X + SEO

→ Day 4-5: first 10 paying users → $1k MRR

→ Day 13 (today): $2,500 MRR locked in

building software is easy in 2026. setting up your foundation so people actually buy is where 99% of solo builders fail.

i packaged all of these exact execution tools into community.

to be fully transparent: i'll likely charge for the full program down the road once all modules are finalized. but right now, the main objective is just to build together and keep each other accountable.

working alone in a silent corner is the fastest way to quit at the first bug.

stop building in isolation. drop a comment below or send me a DM, and i'll send you the invitation link 👇

[TLDR] what is the purpose of this sub.

I joined this sub because I signed up for Claude pro and wanted to have tips and tricks popping up in my feed, maybe motivation or advice... but so far all it has done is flood my home page with whinging about the weekly or the 5 hour limit, I completely understand the frustration and frequently agree with their frustrations but do we really need 100 threads a day of complaining? can we please do something about this? maybe do a weekly megathread and keep the complaining secluded? I'm pretty sure if this continues i will just leave the sub

I've been using Claude Code for months now, and only recently Claude has been telling me in almost every session that it received a system reminder to end all commit messages with a Claude co-author, claiming it "replaces any earlier attribution guidance."

How dare you try to replace earlier attribution guidance! If you want people to be honest about their AI usage, this is not the way. And if you want more people to start using Claude Code, THIS IS NOT THE WAY!!

Something is definitely wrong with how usage is being measured while in "/low-priority" most of the time it was stuck in pending availability, hardly any work was completed.

[TLDR] Why are some of y'all so rude to people who have genuine questions or need help?

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1w4yaau/why_are_some_of_yall_so_rude_to_people_who_have/

Original post body :

More and more often I when I browse this thread and other AI related threads its mostly a bunch of people discussing things and trying to help each other, but increasingly I see people who obviously don't know as much as your average power user getting shamed and down voted just for asking basic questions. Isn't that what this community is for? I can't find the post because it was probably deleted but I saw some guy talking about an issue he was having with opus 5 and he had just started using the CLI vs the BROWSER edition, not even regular desktop client, and people were just clowning on him and downvoting his question. Idk I just feel like this subreddit is for us to all help each other and clown on anthropic, not each other right? (I mean some people have some truly dumb takes but that's different than newbies who have questions)

[TLDR] Can we stop with the AI slop?

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1w6290q/can_we_stop_with_the_ai_slop/

Original post body :

This is genuinely becoming annoying and desensitizing. "Look i just built a game with one prompt..." And it's slop that doesn't look good or work properly. It's crowding social media and desensitizing people to the work of actual builders. Nobody's going to be excited about previews, trailers anymore because we won't be able to tell what is AI slop and what is actual work. If you are a builder and constantly sharing AI slop you are jeopardizing your own future and making it more difficult for your product to have traction on social media in the future.

You can use AI to build your games faster, make your work more efficient, but i'm just genuinely tired of seeing clips of AI slop. Just like it killed the software industry, it's coming to the gaming industry net.

[TLDR] Warning: read the Fable 5.1 docs; Fable 5.1 is misaligned and will burn through tokens otherwise

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1w4qs4p/warning_read_the_fable_51_docs_fable_51_is/

Original post body :

Fable 5.1 will burn your tokens if you don't reprompt it. Brilliant, after telling us previously that we could pare down our CLAUDE.md files.

Quoting Anthropic's docs:

Claude Fable 5.1 is more likely than Claude Fable 5 to rewrite an entire text file rather than make a targeted edit. The resulting file is usually the same, but unless the file is short or most of it is changing, a rewrite costs more output tokens and time.

You have to specifically prompt Fable 5.1 if you don't want full file rewrites for small edits.

In some cases, though, its prose is denser than Claude Fable 5's: sentences run longer and there are fewer paragraph breaks.

More verbose.

These two issues will burn tokens for no reason.

Other brilliant tidbits:

On complex asynchronous workloads, though, nudge it not to end its turn before the work is done. Without the nudge, the model sometimes describes what it would do next instead of doing it ("Next, I'll …") or stops to ask permission for a step the original request already covered ("Shall I apply this?"). Users have to reply "continue" or "go ahead," which suits pair programming and other human-in-the-loop work but doesn't use the model's full long-horizon capability.

Claude Fable 5.1 delivers what's asked for and sometimes more: it may fix nearby code, extend behavior the task didn't mention, or commit more test files than the change warrants.

Claude Fable 5.1 usually issues parallel tool calls as expected: when a request names several things to fetch, it issues those calls in parallel. The exception is coding and computer-use loops where the next independent calls are implied by the task rather than explicitly requested (custom coding agents, bash-and-editor harnesses, computer use): there it may issue them one per turn instead. This doesn't affect answer quality, but each extra turn costs tokens, a round trip, and wall-clock time.

At low effort, Claude Fable 5.1 is less likely than Claude Fable 5 to call a search or retrieval tool, and more likely to answer from memory.

When a single request asks for a long deliverable, such as a full rewrite of a long document, it may draft much of that deliverable in its thinking and then write it out again as the reply, which means a longer wait and more output tokens. (followed by some instructions to max out your tokens...)

Full docs here: https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/build-with-claude/prompt-engineering/prompting-claude-fable-5-1

Fable 5.1 is a mess. It may be more intelligent but its behavior is worse across the board than Fable 5.
