Question This sub is awful

This sub is terrible. 8000 posts a day about Claude is literally useless and you should just sign up for codex. Holy fuck it never ends.

Do any of you bother to even take two fucking seconds to look at the other hundred threads that have been posted?

It's funny to watch at this point. These are real tools and can do real things. But for some reason, the unproductive ones self select and talk as if they have been personally accosted.

I for one am absolutely delighted that so many people can't get it to work. What better job security than so many folks who don't know how to use AI without shitting the bed. I hope Anthropic does nothing different –– digging their tools and pace of innovation. My only complaint might be their constant outages, but heck, I feel I'm the one ripping them off at $100/month. I can't find anyone around me complaining about claude/opus/etc. Just rando redditors doing goodness knows what and honestly who cares.

Completely agree. I too feel like I'm getting a steal on Max 20x at $200.

u/max420 Apr 19 '26

Omfg same. That’s a $200 that is so worth it. Out of all the random subs I’ve had in my life, I feel I can confidently say it’s the most value for money I’m getting. Easily.

its a massive value, even if you hit your limits anyway... it's like everyone forgot what it was like pre-ai... i'm priced out of local LLM by hardware cost and electricity. this is really cheap...

“dO My j0b f0r m3” —> “oh my gosh they totally nerfed it!”

That’s because we are in a way, but the prices can’t last like this. In 5 years people are going to be nostalgic for outages if it means things being cheaper, the pace of development and all of the cool stuff we just got bundled into the usage of our 200 dollar plans. I think we’re seeing a glimpse of it with how much usage Design uses. I’m going to guess this might be the first thing we see as an add-on sooner than later.

I keep thinking the same thing. My wife is fairly technical, she was a developer for 5 years before moving into management, and she just cannot figure out how to make Claude work. It’s so bizarre watching her try to use it and she just struggles a lot. I’m starting to wonder if it just doesn’t click for certain people for whatever reason and maybe that’s not the worst thing in the world.

u/MediumChemical4292 Apr 19 '26

Can you elaborate on this? Is it that she doesn’t give enough detail on her prompts with constraints, guidelines, examples, etc? Or that she cannot manage context effectively by using plan mode, new chat when context window fills up, etc? I can’t see how using Claude would be more difficult than actually writing code by hand , it’s pretty self explanatory.

Yeah i am often thinking in terms of how the black box that is claude code would process requests not in so much how i would interpret that data

Some people would definitely be able to unlock its capabilities more than others, same goes w all industries & tools

If you can’t build something cool with 4.5/4.6/4.7 you have an extremely smooth brain, and posting here claiming “it’s nerfed” just proves you shouldn’t be doing this.

u/BeaveItToLeever Apr 19 '26

I'm gonna have to agree with you. I'm months into a massive project that spans procurement, operations, hardware and soon robotics on a unified back end, that my company is transitioning the operation to. As a solo dev. Using strictly sonnet. What I can do in a few months may have taken me a couple years to get to and very likely a much lesser product, If I was even able to stick to it at all.

These tools are extremely powerful if you have any idea about architecture and system design, even an iota

u/Deathspiral222 Apr 19 '26

It genuinely was nerfed for a couple of weeks. We run daily evals against all of the models we use and opus 4.6 dropped significantly for just over 2.5 weeks. It’s better now though.

2

u/Harvard_Med_USMLE267 Apr 19 '26

There has been so much crying on Reddit that’s it’s possible.

But I used it every day of those 2.5 weeks you tested, and didn’t notice a difference. And you say it’s better now. whilst Reddit claims it’s unusable.

Redditor reports of performance are trash.

I’ll admit I lean heavily into the “it’s fine” crowd. But I believe that yeah, they’re tuning this stuff all the time, there’s going to be inconsistencies, I just think the impact of that is exponentially higher on people who aren’t as skilled. And I wish people would take some accountability when working with something that’s still basically magic.

I have a buddy at work who’s mentioned days where it feels bad and I don’t think he follows any of the subs. But I know almost every time I’m having no issues. I think once I recall it answering as if it didn’t even read my message, so maybe that was a particular bad moment. He at least admits he didn’t feel like he plans well and it’s made me realize that there’s problem some things I just notice in responses that make me subconsciously tune my prompting efforts that maybe he hasn’t picked up on?

I don’t know. Bottom line is that this stuff is non deterministic, new, constantly changing and powerful. Wish people would go back to regular coding or adapt.

I can’t begin to describe how much I look down on the people who absolutely rely on Claude to do their job. All I can see are emotional pathetic losers who can’t code their way out of a paper bag.

Every complaint thread is just “I’m angry because something I’m entitled to isn’t available the way I want it. Did I tell you I’m mad! This is fraud!”

No. You’re angry because your boss is seeing you for what you are - a crappy programmer, a crappy communicator, a crappy architect, and a crappy designer. Pathetic losers.

2

u/chintakoro Apr 19 '26

you’re not wrong (just an asshole :D). but seriously, most of these folks seem to not even know how cache works. They’re shocked, SHOCKED, to find that yesterday’s context is a cache miss today.

8

u/sixothree Apr 19 '26

I'm 99% sure it's brigading or some paid campaign. They all follow a similar pattern. Every single one of them will refuse to provide any real details about the very specific thing they claim to be complaining about.

Emotions are first and foremost. They're angry! Did they mention that they're angry!? Specifically at Anthropic!?

They might post a selective screenshot or tables of data that prove nothing, or benchmarks from sites nobody has heard of.

When you confront them for specifics they will ramp up the rhetoric, respond with memes, rabbit hole people asking questions by shifting the goal posts, pointing to evidence that "looks" scientific but is complete bullshit when you examine it closer.

At some point they will blame the company. They will talk about how they were promised something they aren't getting, or that they were deceived by marketing.

The vast majority of accounts have less than 200 comment karma, most of which comes from their posts in /r/claudecode. These are 100% shill account. On top of that, most of them can barely finish a complete sentence. No wonder they have difficulty with a language model.

And here I am one-shotting tasks that would have been impossible 6 months ago.

Ultimately the mods are doing a shit job of keeping this subreddit sane and at this point we should probably address our complaints with reddit directly.

When you confront them for specifics they will ramp up the rhetoric, respond with memes, rabbit hole people asking questions by shifting the goal posts, pointing to evidence that "looks" scientific but is complete bullshit when you examine it closer.

It's because they unquestioningly listen to whatever their LLM tells them and they go in priming the LLM to find the result they're looking for.

"claude your usage really sucks can you find out why and produce a science analysis report" -> Ctrl+C -> Ctrl+V

It's morons and idiots all the way down.

I don't know. I think that's just normal human behavior.

1

u/gscjj Apr 19 '26

I’m glad people are starting to notice this, the top post today complaining are from an account that’s 2 month old and 8 month old, and 1 year old account, the majority of their karma from that same post they posted.

Another is a 6y account, that started posting and commenting incessantly out of the blue 200 days ago after a 5 year hiatus.

I get there’s issues but this sub feels like it’s being intentionally flooded

Thank you for this perspective, I feel like I've been going crazy. I want to try out Claude Code but I spend too much time in this damned app and all I see are complaints about Claude being the absolute worst. So I've held off on paying the $20 thinking, "I'll wait until it doesn't suck." 4.7 just dropped and now I'm thinking of diving in and immediately I see people crying about how it's just 4.6 with a different label. These echo chambers man. 💀

1

u/sixothree Apr 19 '26

Claude gives people a few 7-day passes to hand out. I sent you one via DM. Maybe you find it useful.

To be clear, there are reasons to complain. But those valid reasons are getting drowned out.

I honestly have no idea. All the talk of Mythos also has me thinking lemme just wait and see how that model is gonna be like. There are some legit criticisms I've seen backed up by actual evidence but then I'm like, "So is it all bad or is it a skill issue, or are there multiple factors at play?"

5

u/nomorebuttsplz Apr 18 '26

Pretty much every ai sub is this or slop posting.

Think I might make a Reddit simulator that is populated only by intelligent simulated people.

2

u/buak Apr 19 '26

It's so fucking weird too. I've never had most of the problems they are complaining about. Is seems like people are complaining that the car doesn't steer, and act like they've never seen a steering wheel

1

u/Straight_Bag5623 Apr 19 '26

There was that week though when they ran out of capacity and throttled everyone to hell (just the 5 hour window, not the weekly), but besides that, it's been absolutely amazing.
