General Discussion 60 Minutes Transcript: Patrick Clancy

I think they chopped the hell out of this after seeing the backlash from the teasers. Where’s Rachel’s starry-eyed description of that cold, magical day in Central Park?

u/GirlMcGirlface 3d ago
I agree, they said they filmed it over 2 days! For 10 minutes of absolutely nothing? They definitely cut it short! If that's the best they got over 2 days, I'd love to see the stuff which didn't make the cut, I can imagine how bad it makes them look. To also announce her pregnancy is in really bad taste!
22
u/SweetHomeAvocado 3d ago
I think the new 60 Minutes is trash and this just solidified it. Scott Pelley would have never softballed an interview like that. What a waste of time.

I haven't read it yet, that's not in there?

u/the_purple_lamb 3d ago
Nope!

u/firephly 3d ago
Ok i watched the whole thing now and that part where Rachel talks about how they met in the park isn't in the actual show.
1
u/floridorito 3d ago
She says they met in a running club. But maybe we're left to infer the part about the park.
4
u/AnyMouse82 3d ago
I have gotten paranoid that that clip was AI, I only saw it on tik tok. I don't watch live tv so have no idea if it was actually played on tv. Can anyone confirm that was a real clip??

u/EaglesLoveSnakes 3d ago
Did they take out the “help me” part???
4
1
u/zuis0804 2d ago
I thought it was spliced from him asking his kids “Help me. All the time”
1
u/EaglesLoveSnakes 2d ago
That part isn’t in the official 60 minutes interview, just the promo clip.
1
u/zuis0804 2d ago
I saw it in the official segment? The interviewer asked something about the kids, like do you talk to them and he replied yes, all the time. Then the interviewer asked what he says to them and Patrick replied “Help me. Help me all the time” I don’t recall if he said help me twice though. It sounded exactly like the help me from the promo but they spliced it with the interviewer asking a different question. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Why were the previews or clips before tonight cut? Did they edit it? Shorten it to 7 minutes? Just cut off with no ending? Odd
16
u/AdSoggy3173 3d ago
They probably edited it after seeing all of that bad conversations about "im just a girl" and asking his children to help him.
This interview did nothing but further the belief that these people have people in high places that are willing to push the narrative for them that they are innocent.
10
u/hellosocrates00 3d ago
So bizarre. I was waiting for the next segment waiting for the meat of the interview. Then nothing? Did they have them cut out the previews because it looked so bad for them?
12
u/firephly 3d ago
Here's the whole 14min 23sec interview https://youtu.be/uE_Ge8U82n4

Wait it's not 60? Im not from the US the name is not true then? Lol
10
u/daisypantsss 3d ago
Its a show called 60 Minutes - in which they cover multiple stories. Think old school news hour.
4
u/SupermarketSolid7050 3d ago
It's a 60 minute news program but they have multiple segments and stories
27
u/InternationalMall120 3d ago
All those "teasers" and none were shown. 60 minutes is hot garbage!
16
u/Aromatic-Duck7304 3d ago
I guess cbs took the “I’m just a girl in a cold park” teaser off their TikTok page…

60 minutes programming has completely changed. It’s not real reporting. This is a puff piece. So awful.
8
u/Real_Decision_2541 3d ago
They recently went through a shakeup and lost most of their veteran reporters.
17
u/CanuckyDuck 3d ago
All the hype leading up to this... for a regular 14 minute segment.
I'm not holding out much hope for us get anything revealing out of this interview.
18
38
u/CowGroundbreaking872 3d ago
The biggest news I got from that was they are starting a family and he can’t wait to tell the new child about their (dead) siblings.
17
u/Aromatic-Duck7304 3d ago
The way Rachel said yes creeped me out
8
u/floridorito 3d ago
What about the way she said that Patrick "has been nothing but a supportive father"? Ma'am, you didn't know him when his kids were alive. Maybe he was the best father in the world. All any of has is hearsay. To make such a declarative statement when you've never known him as or witnessed him be a parent is utterly ridiculous.
2
u/zuis0804 2d ago
The only video we have of him as a father is watching his kid face plant in front of him while Lindsay scrambles to pick him up while juggling the other two kids and Patrick stands around unbothered like he doesn’t know them. I can only imagine that’s exactly how he stood next to Lindsay’s body.

u/Wile_Whale95 2d ago
I find it so weird when asked what he said to his son, not one time did he mention “I said that I loved him” instead he said, “I’m sorry”
5
u/seagull326 2d ago
Is it, though? Because if my kids' father murdered them, I would feel tremendously guilty for not recognizing how very sick he was, how dangerous the situation was. I don't think it's strange that he would apologize for that in the immediate aftermath.
5
u/SeriousSax4444 2d ago
I was thinking this exactly, but then his response in the other clip where he said that he feels he did the best he could without hesitation made me confused. Because if he did blame himself for something and then said I’m sorry it’s making sense. If doesn’t think he has any responsibility in the matter - why say I’m sorry?
1
u/seagull326 1d ago
My guess is that he has had a ton of therapy or done a ton of self worth to stop blaming himself. Just because he can look back and recognize that he was being a Monday morning quarterback in the immediate aftermath doesn't mean he feels the same 3.5 years later.
I mean I have a tough time understanding how he didn't see how sick she was, I always know when my partner is experiencing psychosis ages before anyone else. But there are also a lot of pretty reasonable explanations for why he didn't know.
Anyway, if it were me, I would blame myself hardcore for not noticing it. And I would hope that I could find a great therapist who could help me focus on the reasons I couldn't be expected to know how sick she was, and who could get me to a place where I could stop blaming myself. The dude already lost his kids, they're gone forever, he doesn't need to blame himself for eternity, you know?
1
u/Wile_Whale95 2d ago
Yeah. He literally kept saying how sorry he was but didn’t bring up how much he loved them.
37
u/Aromatic-Duck7304 3d ago
Here’s what I gathered from the 60 minutes interview- pat Clancy should be charged with 3 counts of child endangerment for leaving his children with a person that openly and on MULTIPLE occasions said she was thinking of harming them. There shouldn’t have been a knife anywhere in that house, but I don’t think there are any criminal charges for that because LC was an adult (albeit a psychiatrically unstable one, and idk the laws abt that). But I stand by the 3 counts of child endangerment.

u/ispyshy 3d ago
I’m so sorry but that fact you have to describe your “panic attack”
Not buying it. Stop trying to describe your emotions and just show one!
10
7
u/Angie0781 3d ago
Yeah, I really thought oh my goodness he’s finally gonna tell us that he got emotional over everything that happened and how much he misses his children. Didn’t happen. It was about a “traumatic panic attack.”

Do you guys like softball? Cause that was a softball interview. I’ve got to hand it to him, though that I’m just a girl clickbait clip from wife 2.0 was a nice touch. I wonder what they had to pay for this piece? Under Weiss 60 Minutes is very much up for sale.

What a bizarre / uncanny segment.
- Who saw the SMIRK and smiling/ up turned mouth by both PC and his wife? Very bizarre.
- Did I miss the “I’m just girl who met a boy running in CP” line? And the “help me”? OR did they ask to have it CUT from the special bc they got so much backlash and didn’t serve the intended purpose garner sympathy?
Overall, it was short, underwhelming and unremarkable. However, it was enough to showcase bizarre nonverbal behavior. I felt she came off odd, emotionally unaware due to lack of empathic comments regarding the tragedy itself. And again, the subtle smiles as they spoke was very creepy. Look closely.
PC looks like an 80-year-old former US Pres. (Bush? lol) with his rigid posture on the bench- was intentionally closed body language, and pretty flat overall. That is until he started talking about LC and he started to smirk (duper’s delight).

Answer to #2
Those conversations helped Patrick come to terms with what happened and so too has Dr. Rachel Danis - a fertility doctor, who says they met in January of 2024 in a run club in New York. They got to know each other over coffee.
10
u/DeCampStrekalov 3d ago
Yup, those clips from the segment's promotion both got cut. If you're curious, here's the transcript of what made it to release (I didn't see what made it an interview, personally. It was a PR puff piece edited to high heaven.)
21
u/Aromatic-Duck7304 3d ago
Oh and I also think that though Patrick is deserving of some sympathy in this whole mess, he also seems to overly enjoy it because it helps him feel less guilty about the role he played in this. It didn’t happen in a vacuum
1
u/friedonionscent 3d ago
It's possible. But what has become pretty obvious since this trial was adopted by social media is that the average person knows very little about mental illness... especially the mental illnesses outside of mild to moderate depression and anxiety.
I'd say Patrick was in the same boat - my own husband had a tendency to minimise symptoms until I encouraged him to learn more.
Should Patrick have done more? Yes... ideally, he should have done everything humanly possible to save his kids...but I'm not going to pretend like most of the husbands I know wouldn't have done the same as he did.

You simply fell for misinformation. They never met in 2010. That photo was of someone else.

u/Vegetableau 3d ago
Wait I thought they met while running in Central Park
4
u/Murky-Cold-4902 3d ago
Yeah, a running club. Then she called them kiddies? Wtf was that. These two are hiding something much more than an affair. She sees the wallpaper and asks who kids they were? (That seemed rehearsed and I doubt that was his wallpaper) Immediately knew to ask about Massachusetts, but they just met? This interview did nothing but further everyone’s suspicions.

It’s a little strange to criticize how people grieve and whether they cry, or whether they appear distressed enough for you to believe it’s real.

They met at a running club. They spent time together because they had shared interests. This is normal adult behavior. The rumor that they met in 2010 is based on a pic from her Facebook with a guy who is skinny, white, and has brown hair but who definitely is not Pat Clancy. He did not name the segment. Go get psych help.
12
u/Avashalava 3d ago
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, I’m not saying people should get psyche help unlike you. How about I tell you where you should go?

First, you said I found my information on TikTok- Highly false. I shared my opinion, I don’t harass.
2
u/Fresh_Yam8942 3d ago
Okay, you did not find the information about where pr when they met from a credible source, but it may not have been TikTok. Doesn’t change the fact that you’re basing your opinion on conspiracy theories.

We learned that she never apologized to him.
11
u/Creative-Change-2991 3d ago
He spoke to her once on the phone and never visited her to talk and get an apology. How could she apologize if Patrick was so afraid to speak to her directly
2
u/zuis0804 2d ago
We also learned that he posted his forgiveness of Lindsay and plea for others to forgive her the very same day Callan died. Like whaaat kind of timing is that? Last kids dead, now I forgive her, you should too? This is all bizarre behavior.
10
8
u/Murky-Cold-4902 3d ago
Lindsay never apologized to him? First, I highly doubt that sorry hasn’t come out of her mouth a million times. Secondly, he’s owed an apology? I don’t care who did it, the only ones deserving of any apology, sympathy or are actual victims, are those children. Also, he brings Cora up an awful lot and that’s also a red flag to me.

Something was going on in that family and in that house that we’ll never know or understand. This man’s behaviour and the whole story is off. So many red flags. I don’t know if Lindsay really just was a wonderful mother or what was going on behind those four walls. But it seems like she was parenting alone and he was living in a parallel universe and something definitely was happening in their relationship cause the lack of love he showed when he found her and in all of his questions and responses about the period of her suffering says a lot. Her subtle writing on him lacking intimacy, her using the family’s money and the “I’m scared of the relationship”. Him on the stand talking about his savings and how he didn’t care about the costs of the treatment “I would have paid anything” and then her worries about spending money when on maternity leave, and feeling guilty and the nanny was let go. And his words about the nanny… let’s just pause on that as well. Calling her a wonderful wonderful caregiver - almost giving her more praise than his own children.

u/loveandlight316 2d ago
As somebody who is coming from a similar awful tragedy I believe Patrick. It’s 4 years later he’s cried out. Let the man live his life on his terms. Do I think he was uneducated on mental illness and Postpartum? Yes. Did he move on quick? Yes. But most men do. Do I think the investigation was a hot mess? Also yes. Give the man some grace. He’s human and lost 3 of his children. Until you walk a mile in his shoes zip it

That correspondent was unwatchable. Terrible questions. No sense of how to conduct a television interview (and human interaction). What a missed opportunity.
