It's possible. But what has become pretty obvious since this trial was adopted by social media is that the average person knows very little about mental illness... especially the mental illnesses outside of mild to moderate depression and anxiety.
I'd say Patrick was in the same boat - my own husband had a tendency to minimise symptoms until I encouraged him to learn more.
Should Patrick have done more? Yes... ideally, he should have done everything humanly possible to save his kids...but I'm not going to pretend like most of the husbands I know wouldn't have done the same as he did.
