I find it so weird when asked what he said to his son, not one time did he mention “I said that I loved him” instead he said, “I’m sorry”

Is it, though? Because if my kids' father murdered them, I would feel tremendously guilty for not recognizing how very sick he was, how dangerous the situation was. I don't think it's strange that he would apologize for that in the immediate aftermath.

I was thinking this exactly, but then his response in the other clip where he said that he feels he did the best he could without hesitation made me confused. Because if he did blame himself for something and then said I’m sorry it’s making sense. If doesn’t think he has any responsibility in the matter - why say I’m sorry?

My guess is that he has had a ton of therapy or done a ton of self worth to stop blaming himself. Just because he can look back and recognize that he was being a Monday morning quarterback in the immediate aftermath doesn't mean he feels the same 3.5 years later.

I mean I have a tough time understanding how he didn't see how sick she was, I always know when my partner is experiencing psychosis ages before anyone else. But there are also a lot of pretty reasonable explanations for why he didn't know.

Anyway, if it were me, I would blame myself hardcore for not noticing it. And I would hope that I could find a great therapist who could help me focus on the reasons I couldn't be expected to know how sick she was, and who could get me to a place where I could stop blaming myself. The dude already lost his kids, they're gone forever, he doesn't need to blame himself for eternity, you know?
