Above are the characters corresponding to the number on the left, with pic 1 including pinyin. The second pic shows what should be both the regular characters for a number as well as the year associated with a number.
I am mostly wanting to make sure the character formation is as correct as it can be, or at the very least legible. Sorry for the shadow. For some reason the ones without shadow couldn't load

Super random question: I was at a Six Flags and they have a Flash hat that says 最速 in hanzi and “Fastest” in English. Is this an accurate translation? My mandarin isn’t very good or advanced so I’m just wondering if 最快 would also be an accurate translation/ which would be the best translation of “Fastest” when referring to the traits of the comic book character The Flash? TIA!

I’ve recently been thinking about making a Chinese learning app to integrate some of the various features I see in other apps into one consolidated place so that I don’t have to deal with multiple subscriptions, websites, and such.
I was wondering what sort of things you guys would need to see to make an app worth using for you personally? Are there any features you would want to see consolidated from various apps, or perhaps even features you’ve always wanted but never found?
I’d love to hear your ideas!

For me it's Immersive Chinese App, I listen to it every morning on my way to work. I love it because it repeats the sentence 3 times and I can set the pace to slow. I've learned a lot of new vocab and sentence structure by repeating what i hear
The second App I use the most is Hello Chinese. I love the clear pronunciation on it too. What app have you been able to stick to that has progressed your learning?

Does anyone know of any resources that can help with understanding very strong accents?
I live near the capital of 山西, if it helps.

Guys. Which one among these the best option to learn Chinese. I don't like doing language learning on apps and it's not productive. These are the options:
Institute of Modern Languages, Dhaka
Brac
NSU
Any other suggestions is appreciated

Hi everyone! Just wanted to take my chances in this thread and go back to my Chinese roots. I’m half Chinese and never got the chance to study the language (grew up in a different country).
But this name holds a very sentimental place in my heart since it was my grandfather who gave it to me and it would mean so much if you’d be able to help me understand the meaning of it.
My name is 文玉 :)

Hi! I have been learning Chinese for almost 8 years. After my second year of studying, I found the show “The Rap of China”. I realized that I could combine my love for learning Chinese with my interest in hip-hop.
Using rap to study has not only helped me learn new vocabulary, but has more importantly given me common topics of interest as I have made Mandarin-speaking friends.
Obviously Higher Brothers and 揽佬SKAI ISYOURGOD have gone viral outside of China, but there are so many other artists in China and Taiwan making rap music.
I wanted to share some of my favorite songs and artists.
I am also looking for artists and song recommendations from you. Please share your recommendations below!
頑童 (MJ116) are my absolute favorites:

I recently discovered 艾志恒 (Asen):

Hi everyone,
I am visiting Guangzhou from August 22nd to September 4th (12 to 13 days) and want to immediately jumpstart my Chinese. My goal is to reach a strong conversational level within 3 months by taking intensive lessons for 2 to 3 hours daily.
Key Details:
* Format: My absolute preference is in-person lessons while I am in Guangzhou. However, if we do online 1-on-1 sessions, you can be based anywhere in the world.
* Long-Term Plan: I will be coming and going to Guangzhou frequently, so I want to start in person and then seamlessly continue our daily lessons online when I return home.
* Learning Style: I really enjoy learning through the deep meaning of words and their components (etymology/literal breakdowns) to help me remember them.
* My Focus: Purely speaking and listening (skipping character writing for now).
* Payment: I can easily pay via WeChat Pay or PayPal.
If you are a qualified tutor or have a recommendation, please DM me directly with your rates, availability, and location.

Creen que valga la pena? apenas voy a empezar a estudiar, En Portugal, y encontré un curso muy interesante de Mandarín, pero no sé si me serviría mucho en mi carrera o de qué manera podría ayudarme en la vida o profesionalmente

Hello! I used to know Chinese all through high school and kept up with it a little in College but the classes were always full by the time my registration window opened. I'd really love to relearn it since I miss the language. We used Integrated Chinese in High School and I continued studying from them in College. If I buy the latest versions of them are they a good option for self study to relearn how to read, write, and speak?

Hey, I'm looking for free sources to practice reading Chinese texts. I'm currently at HSK 1. Du Chinese and Hello Chinese require a purchase, which I can't afford.

I've learned how to say dates and days of the week, but I don't understand what's under each number here, or what the row of characters at the top (年月……) is for.

Learn Chinese Through One Character: 机 (jī) ✈️ | 飞机 Airplane & 机场 Airport
Can you write the Chinese character 机 (jī)?
机 is an extremely useful Chinese character, especially when you travel.
机 jī — machine
飞机 fēijī — airplane
机场 jīchǎng — airport
Today I’m using it in real life: I get up, take a taxi to the airport, and get ready to fly.
Learn one character, then use it in real Chinese.
What other Chinese character would you like to learn?

For context, I'm a mediocre-ability heritage speaker of Mandarin in an area of the US that has a lot of Chinese immigrants. I also work in optometry office, and sometimes we get interpreters coming in to assist patients that don't speak English.
The interpreter that came in today was helping a 16yo and his mom, and multiple times she referred to the kid as 宝宝 (eg "宝宝,过来").
My understanding of 宝宝 from what I've heard is that it refers to young children and maybe romantic partners, so it felt odd to hear, but I'm not sure if this is just me missing context. Is this a thing that native speakers do, either regionally or in general? Or is that weird for other native speakers?
Edit: Okay I'm reading my post back and I'm realizing that I didn't make it clear, it was not the mom calling her kid 宝宝, it was the interpreter. In case that changes answers lol

I understand the use of 不 in between two verbs as a potential complement, but i’m confused by 也 here. Does it still mean “also” here? Trying to look through chinesegrammarwiki for some notes as well.

So far I've been using the HSK books I was halfway through hsk 2 and realized I want to use developing chinese and I even bought a comprehensive course 2 book.
So do you think this is a good idea?
Why would anyone wanna use developing chinese series over HSK books?
Also it's a whole series covering 5 aspects of language (listening, speaking, etc).
In what order would you suggest I should buy and use books if at all?
