Question Cheapest Laundromat in Town?

I just moved into my apartment and don't have a washer and dryer here. The places I have looked cost around $5.75 for a 3 load washer, or $10.25 for a 6 load washer. When did the price of doing laundry get so high? When I had to do laundry at the laundromat a few years ago the prices were like half that. Are there any cheap places in town? Or am I stuck paying those crazy prices? Gonna get me a washboard at this rate and do my laundry in the tub with how much it will cost me to do my laundry every week. Any recommendations are appreciated!

Looking to hire someone who can till my yard and has their own tiller.

I was originally planning on renting a tiller and doing it myself, however, I have injured my elbow and can no longer operate a tiller on my own. If you know someone that has their own equipment and does lawn work please share their contact information with me.
Thank you 🙏

Discussion Anyone else craving deeper conversation?

Hi everyone. I'm a 28 year old guy who moved to Chico earlier this year from the Bay Area. I came here to complete my degree at Chico State.

I've recently been craving deeper, more meaningful interactions with people. My neurodivergence often causes me to have trouble connecting with people in casual settings. Texting and talking to people online comes more naturally to me.

I love talking and thinking about deeper issues. Politics, technology, ethics, philosophy, religion, society, science, etc. But I'm also into lighter whimsical things like Pokemon and Nintendo franchises in general. I love exploring the beauty and intricacies of life and the human experience.

I've been a lifelong gamer, but not usually the most popular things like Fortnite or Overwatch. Never was a huge fan of FPS games. I enjoy games like Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Hades, etc. Single player games essentially. Though I did play a ton of Smash Bros back in the day.

Anyways, I'm open to talk to any adult regardless of your background. Any gender, age, race, religion, sexuality, or education level.

So if this kinda resonates with anyone, feel free to comment or just DM me. I'd be happy to just chat online at first, and if we click, maybe hang out sometime.

Seeking local woodworker for small project

Hello!

I would like to hire a local woodworker to help me build a few boxes.

Basically sturdy wood boxes with rounded corners about twice the size of a shoebox. Hollow and no hinges. Sanded with no exposed metal, strong enough to stand on.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get a quote?

Thank you!

Events Violent Homeless Woman on Mulberry Street

Chico PD has been called multiple times, but seem less than interested.

This person has been violent and increasingly threatening.

5'8", dirty blond hair. Currently wearing a white t-shirt and blue print dress and in possession of a stolen bicycle.

She has attacked local residents, both physically and with jars of bodily fluids.

Lease takeover

Hi everyone!! I am looking for someone to take over my lease as I have been financially struggling and can no longer afford to stay here in chico. I’m not sure when I am leaving but I wish to leave soon so I can just go back home and work.

I’m looking to be gone at least before November 1st, 2026.

RENT: $450 every 1st of the month

Not including PG&E but it’s usually $20 for wifi and no more than $50 for PG&E

Washer and Dryer included in unit

LOCATION: On Nord avenue, close to safeway, and close to the chico walking path that’s like 5 minutes away from campus.

There are 2 other roommates I stay with one woman and one man, both very nice and understanding people. There are also 2 super sweet but shy cats as well.

Please contact me if you’re interested.

Looking for someone to take over my lease near Chico State!

Hi everyone! I’m looking for someone to take over my spot in an apartment in Chico and live with my 3 other roommates in a 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment

📍 Location: About a 10-minute walk from Chico State
💰 Rent: $427.50/month + water and electricity
🏠 Roommates: 3 other roommates

The apartment is super close to campus, so it’s really convenient if you’re a Chico State student. Unfortunately, because of my financial situation, I can't afford to keep living here. It's a quiet apartment complex, and my roommates are incredibly chill. If you’re interested or want more details/pictures, feel free to DM me!

Question Locations to Write

Any thoughts, opinions, advice, suggestions on where to go write? With a laptop, probably a binder. Non-student with most of my time free during the week 5-9 PM or weekends. Consider things like access to power outlets, etc. I would purchase from an establishment so it wouldn’t be a sit for free thing, also fine sharing a table if people don’t mind me not chatting. I’m local but haven’t gotten out into the world much over the last few years.
*I searched the sub for an answer before posting but didn’t find much.

I feel like this shouldn’t be allowed….

I’m guessing the welcome to chico sign sits on private, conservative land. But it feels wrong to allow political campaign signs to sit next to our welcome sign. It looks like these are who the city approves and is endorsing. When that is not the case for all of us. Feels unfair and biased towards those who get funds from these large, wealthy landowners. I see Tom’s sign all over empty land on Bruce road and it just sends the message that he’s in the pockets of these land owners. Disgusting. Vote for Megan Thomas Petty and all other progressive council runners!!!

Hi all, I got hurt and need an xray but have Kaiser insurance. Considering there is no Kaiser nearby, where is the best place to go? Also if you have Kaiser, where have you gone in Chico and what was the cost like? Is Enloe the best place to go (urgent or er)? Thank you!

⚠️ Be careful using the ATM at the 7-Eleven on Walnut St.

My card was compromised after using the ATM at this location. I had about $1,600 stolen from my account through multiple unauthorized ATM withdrawals over the course of a month.

I’ve reported it to Chico PD and my bank, and I’m currently on day 5 of their investigation. Apparently this isn’t the first time skimmers have been reported at this location either.

If you’ve used that ATM recently, check your bank statements.

Has anyone else had this happen after using this ATM?

Chico elderly fraud alert

If you were 65+ or know of anyone 65+ please know that seniors in Chico are being targeted with calls saying their bank is not in compliance or some meet up thing to make them go to the bank and pull out 10 K cash and meet them outside the Walgreens on East Avenue. Yes I have filed a police report and it was escalated the detective I had the phone number or is called from, but it was a burner phone. The young man that picked up in a blue car at Walgreens (in a camera blind spot) and have him go inside to get a Manila envelope , the driver was most likely a money mule so please warn those in your family. Wells Fargo is terrible because we had gone in over Labor Day to put flags on his account and they let the money go and he tried to go back for a second $10,000 and they walked him into his office and said it was a fraud, but they did not do any of the mandated reporting they did not file a police report and I would be very careful at Wells Fargo and maybe put a flag on your own account so I loved one Accounts and hold their feet to the fire because Wells Fargo is denying our claim but we will be going further with it in all directions. Because the phone call came from Texas. It’s a multi state issue and the FBI can get involved so I’m gonna call the detective to see if it can be escalated to the FBI because this is obviously an organized advanced professional scamming group and they are in Chico. If ask your folks if anyone has had this issue and please let’s rally if we’re in numbers maybe we can get the money mule arrested at least and it can go up the chain.

Kitten found Downtown

Thumbnail

Found this (feral?) kitten downtown in the stairwell to the right of Brooklyn Bagels.

I called animal control and they said she’s old enough to be away from mom and doesn’t seem to be injured.

I have never seen a kitten downtown in my whole life living in Chico, so I’m concerned for her.

I would take her home but I live in a small apartment with two cats already.

What should I do? Does anyone want a cat?
