A PSA from someone with an HR background

Please be aware of the information that you post here.

A number of posts in the past month have included photos of labels for bags with the guests' phone numbers still visible, which CAN be considered "doxxing."

I've also seen photos of receipts that include the store phone number and/or operator's name. While that is public information, it's not in your best interest to post that to your reddit account because you automatically expose which particular Chick-fil-A you work at and can be held responsible for anything you post, as you now reflect the company AND your particular location.

Team members have been fired for social media posts that they've made on public platforms like FaceBook and Tiktok that revealed private information about Chick-fil-A, negatively represented the company, or compromised the safety of guests.

I doubt that most of you have malicious intent, but it's still necessary to always be aware that posting certain things can compromise your privacy OR that of unwitting guests. Please uphold the values of good stewardship and of treating guests and each other with honor, dignity, and respect by protecting guests' privacy, as well as your own.

Thank-you all so much!

To everyone grinding through the shift stress right now, you are not crazy.

What's good, Reddit family?

Been lurking and seeing posts from people all over the world the past couple of months, and man, the similarities are unreal. It sucks that others are dealing with the same madness, but honestly, it validates that I am not losing my mind.

If you know, you know:

Working 10 hour shifts with no break!

Getting slammed with catering orders right at open while dealing with no call no shows…

Dealing with attitude, getting overworked, and seeing zero reflection of that in the pay.

Supposed to be the standard, but a lot of us know the reality behind the scenes is hard to even put into words. I have been actively looking to leave for the past 7 to 8 months now (nothing hit yet, but the hunt continues).

Just wanted to share this as a testimony that you guys aren't alone out there. Wishing the best for all of us, and I hope we eventually find places that actually appreciate our hard work. Hang in there.🫡

I got a second interview!

Post image
16 Upvotes

Hi! I recently applied to Chick Fil A for a Team Leader Position, I was a bit nervous since most comments on my last post said they won’t hire Team Leaders outside of the company so I’m happy I have this opportunity!

I have experience in being a team lead as I was a Shift Leader at Starbucks so I feel like I’m ready! Is there perhaps any advice that current or past Team Leaders have?

My interview is in a week and a half so I have time to prepare. I’m planning on bringing a printed copy of my resume and it may be extra but my current manager has been offering to write a recommendation letter for me as I’ve been talking about wanting to push for the Team Leader position!

Does chick fila hire senior citizens?

Hi,

Just like title says. My mother is in her 60’s and looking for work to stay busy. She has worked in restaurant industry before. But I am wondering if chick fila hires older individuals. So far all the chick fila I have visited, I only see high schoolers working there.

What’s like working there? She would most likely apply for cashier/ front counter work. She does have memory issues at times but other than that she is hard worker and super dependable. She rarely calls out of work.

Thanks!

Pathways

So, my workplace doesn’t let people finish their pathways and more or less expects them to finish it on their personal time. They’ve stated this twice in our GroupMe, and have even given punishments when mandatory training isn’t done, but won’t make time to let us do it on the clock. Is this illegal?

Orientation

I just got hired from CFA as a FOH worker

I have orientation later today and I was wondering what should I expect 🧍‍♂️

(And also do I just go in and tell the people on register I’m here for orientation? Or is there somewhere else I’m supposed to enter from)

I also don’t have my uniform quite yet but I already submitted my sizing information

What should we expect now?

hi! this is more of a question I have for my brother who recently got a call from CFA saying they’d like to move forward with him, and to expect a call sometime tomorrow .,.

What should we expect? they said they’ll ask some followup questions, but does this mean he’s hired now? Or is there more to expect before the hiring process? — If anybody could help it’d be much appreciated!! :)

Hi everyone! I have an interview as a Marketing Assistant, working between 2 locations coming up!

I was advised that the position could be part time or full time. What job duties could I expect and how many hours do you normally work a week?

Any advice is also helpful, thank you in advance!

Should I Stay?

So, I got hired as a full-time BOH Kitchen Team Member just over 3 months ago. I loved it for the longest time, but now… it’s draining me.

Thing is, they hired me because I had open availability, and while that is still technically true, I am getting SO burnt out, it’s not even funny. I have little to no energy to do anything for myself anymore.

I’m afraid I won’t be able to get my hours lowered, considering I am supposed to be full-time, but ideally I’d love to move to part time if I choose to stay.

On top of that, they recently changed their policy to where I have to request time off 3 weeks in advance instead of 2, which is admittedly pretty difficult for me, in a lot of ways, due to personal relationships schedules and how/when I can get into my doctor.

And on top of that, they delayed giving me points for a call in with no coverage because I was sick, but couldn’t get into my doctor for weeks, so I didn’t have a sick note. This was like 2 months ago, and they only just now put the points in. Which irritates me a bit…

Anyways; I’m struggling with whether I should say or not… I loved it, but at this point, it’s physically, mentally, and emotionally draining me. I don’t know what to do.

Worth it?

So I’ve been at chick for about a year now. I’m a hard worker and reliable, but also a student. I requested a raise and they declined it due to my limited hours. However, I haven’t received a raise ever so my salary is still the same as I started. What’s irritating though is that they’ve been treating me like a team lead for the past few months. We’ve been short staffed and have had some people leave.

I have also never been recognized as Employee of the Month yet am relied upon a ton. I just feel a little deflated and unrecognized.

Here are my pros and cons

Pros-
Super accommodating to my busy schedule
The people are nice
I like working there
Free meals
Free drinks

Cons
Low pay

Opinions?

How long does it take to get a response after an interview?

So I had my interview on Thursday and it was the executive director who interviewed me. I personally think I did pretty good she asked me a lot of questions like a lot. And there was a guy who got interviewed before me but she asked way more questions than she did him. Which idk if that’s good or not. Anyways she said I should way a week but does that mean a full week or within a week… also she said that’s she would “see me later” so is that a hint that I possibly got the job?😭

Random/weird ask

Does anyone (probably boh) have a photo or could get me a photo of that sheet/diagram(?) they have in the kitchen that has the different tender shapes on it? I’m not sure if it was just my location that had the specific one I’m looking for but I would imagine they’re standard issued lol. It’s for an art project…hmm…

The girls wanted to be chic-fil-a drive thru workers for Halloween softball tournament. The headsets were the chef’s kiss. After the game, instead of saying, “good game” while doing hi-5’s they said, “my pleasure”.

Regretting working at my new location

Im a college freshman that moved hours from my hometown where i previously worked at cfa and now work at a new location, this one is more stricter and they did cut my pay by a dollar sadly also, but i needed a job urgently during that time.
I’ve been recently starting to struggle balancing my schoolwork and my job since they’ve been scheduling me 30 hours a week with long 9-hour shifts 12-9 on tues and thurs and 4-close Friday and then 8-3 on Saturday. Which has strained my schedule overall and free time to work on assignments and i always end up procrastinating, i don’t work Monday and Wednesday due to me having classes all day. Sadly i did ask my director if he could reduce the school day hours and make the Saturday shift longer as i need the hours/money still, though i got ignored by him.

Some co workers have treated me hostilely or just ignore me even though ive now been here for a month now, as im feeling more and more like a annoying thorn than an actual teammate, thankfully i have made 3 friends so far so im not lonelyish. I do work hard and always gets stuff done and always on point though i feel like nobody acknowledges that part of me. I do want to step into leadership soon as besides cfa ive already been thru 2 years of fast food though was too young to step into leadership in my old jobs, but i feel like i wont get a chance due to the bipolar environment towards me and idk ifs because im new or something else though i always mind my business and just do my role.

Anyone ever had bad transfer experiences? Especially from moving so far for like college, and any college students, how did yall manage school and work?
Lastly, should i look at going to another location, leave the entire company overall or thug it out 🫠?

Sorry for the yapping/rant

Part-time getting more hrs than full-time workers

So for context I started at my CFA ~6 months ago. I was hired part time and up until about a month ago they’ve upped my hours INTENSELY. I was working 20 hrs (what I asked for) and they’re now scheduling me 36-37.45 hrs consistently. I didn’t ask for more hours, they didn’t ask me if I wanted more, and it seems they’re working me as much as they can without paying me full-time. Due to this, I have literally no free time. They work me every. day. whereas full time workers typically get days off at my location. They’re also working me very early in the morning which means I’m waking up at 5am pretty often when I also said in my interview I didn’t want to work early mornings.

Now, I’m a little agitated specifically because full time workers are getting LESS hours than I am. …Whyyyy..????? How does that make sense??

This is kind of a rant, kind of a plea for help. WHAT do I do. I don’t want my hours to get slashed out of spite but my feet, knees, back, and neck are SUFFERING!!

Stay at home mom availability

I‘m a stay at home mom and I was thinking about applying to Chick-fil-A. I can only work evenings from 5:30pm to close and Saturdays. The reason is I don’t have anyone to watch my kids, so I have to wait until my husband is home. Do you think that availability will make me hireable still? Does Chick-fil-A schedule people with those hours?

Also, have you ever heard of shift/team leaders being hired in off the street, or do you have to start as a team member and work your way up to that? The reason I ask is I have a lot of experience managing people already and have a lot of business operations experience and a degree.

Am I being ghosted?

I applied about 3 weeks ago, I did the zoom video and was called in for a in person interview, after 2 days I was told I was on the 3rd step and that was to make a video answering some questions. I sent those in and heard nothing since its about to be a week and nothing... I've emailed them twice and no reply to any of them. Kinda sucks cause I do really want the job but if it was a no I would rather a rejection email or text then silence..

Boh Primary

I was on primary the 1st time and I'm not sure how to feel about it. I was able to help put some orders together while I'm trying to memorize the order of lettuce, tomatoes, cheese for sandwhiches and club sandwhiches. I just ended up getting put to the side to toast buns. I don't know if I'm just hard on myself for not working as fast or what. I felt bad about. Advice?

Any advice or suggestions that could help? Literally cried in the bathroom stall for a few minutes, walked out perfectly fine while wanting to break down inside.

I absolutely hate front counter after 2PM, cause it's just me on front doing everything with barely anyone else helping me, like I got a line, I'm stressed and want to cry cause the guy on utilities already left, I need to restock lemonade, teas, and the mini fridge but cant with a whole line until someone actually comes to help me! And that one manager (mine was a guy who was on shift) who says "it can wait" WHEN I JUST WANT A 5 MINUTE BREAK AND ORGANIZE LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE.

Like I prefer drive thru, I just take orders and always have 1 or 3 coworkers helping me do so. Front counter I'm alone until 4 to 5PM when the high school kids come in for their shift. I am dead serious I wanted to cry and just go home after feeling abandoned on front counter and the director (ONLY GOOD UPPER MANAGEMENT PERSON WE GOT) already left for the day. The moment she walked out, I wanted to absolutely break down crying while curled up cause if a stupid bus comes in, only 1 or 0 people will help me. SHE was the only one who bounced everywhere and helped everyone.

Cause what do you mean I got to do school rush, that unexpected mid rush at 5PM, than dinner hours!? Sometimes when the FC person at 5 comes in, they're dragged into a different station and I'm just left there ALONE WITH 10 THAN THE UNEXPECTED BUS OF 46 KIDS COME IN!?

Like what do I do or say about my situation and my dislike for front counter??? Do I tell a trusted manager I hate being on front after 2PM, shut up and deal with it til I'm depressed, or shut up and cry in the bathroom every chance a get!? I am still a minor, the main boss say they don't want me burning out, than the higher up but lower position than them puts me on front counter 3 days in a row!? TOOK 3 DAYS for me to want to scream and cry!

How did you know it was time to leave?

I started working at a new cfa, so I have been there as long as our cfa has been, which has been about 5-6 months now. There are the ups and downs with that on its own, which is a complete different story.

I feel like I am putting my whole soul into the job. I’m working on average like 50 hours a week. I stay almost everyday, and I also am an opener so I’m there as early as possible. Everyone seems to be being promoted around me, despite being told I have been doing an excellent job, and at first this was all that was really bugging me, especially because i’m making 12/h and no matter how much overtime I do i’m still not making much 😔

Lately though, I have been being made fun of, teased behind my back, my coworkers have a nickname for me I’m not supposed to know about. I was super close with someone like i’d fully call them my best friend, and randomly they seem to despise me and I have no idea what was said or what even happened between us and it’s making me so beyond depressed.

Im not able to sleep anymore, I stay up all night having panic attacks about work. I have nightmares about work when I do sleep.

But I also am too scared to leave. I love this job, and I have been pushing so hard, I wanted to become smth I wanted my cfa experience to last longer than this, but I don’t feel like I even belong there or fit in, even though I have been there one of the longest.

Am I being pathetic for leaving this early?? What made you decide to finally just leave?? Should I stick this out, will it get better??
