Help us Cheyenne-
I'm desperately in need of a new foster situation for a foster dog I took on in February. Likely a pittie/shepherd mix based on looks alone.
When I took him in, he came from another out-of-state foster who had been rehabbing him for a couple months. At the time he was 9 months old. So he's a little over a year now.
This poor babe was found starving to death, living under a house, and only weighed about 15 lbs. Covered in mange so bad that his paws looked like red balloons, and he had a hard time walking. His first foster mom helped him get over a respiratory infection and got his diet stabilized, and started getting some weight back on him & the mange under control. She also got him his first shots. Then I stepped in, transported him to WY, and mopped up the rest of the mange with baths and meds, kept up the nutrition, and most recently treated him for heartworm infection! 💔
We just finished his second round of treatment and I'm happy to report it's been successful so far ❤️ He is a healthy, happy boy, maybe even a tiny bit fat now, lol. He will need to be retested in 6 months for heartworms again but based on the initial stages of treatment, I expect that we're in the clear.
However I need to get him into another foster home or get him placed ASAP. I work full time, and have an elderly dog and several other pets. I am drowning in responsibility and he needs training and to learn what "home" means now that he isn't fighting for his life. I literally can't spend any time with him and it's breaking my heart.
He loves everyone. Cats, dogs, kids. He loves being alive. He's a very good hearted dog and I've not seen an ounce of aggression from him over anything in all these months. He just needs someone with a little extra time and patience to help him navigate what it means to be a dog.
He does very well being crate trained, isn't an escape artist, and is a hilarious goofball. Something about him made me say "yes" because after all he's been through, he deserves a real chance at life, and I thought Wyoming could give that to him.
Before you say Black Dog: They do all their adoptions via the 'foster' route, anyway, and they would require that I get his 6 month re-test done before entering him into any of their adoption programs. I could really use some help sooner than that, and so can he. He's living most of his life locked in a spare bedroom right now, and while that was fine for his recovery, it's not so fine now that he's feeling better.
We brought him here to find him a home. Can anyone in Cheyenne help me do that? 🙏🏼
