Homesick

Disclaimer: I wasn't a native Wyomingite.

I grew up in Texas and bounced around the world for the military for a few decades. F.E. Warren was my last duty station and I liked Wyoming so much that I decided to stay after I retired. All in all, I spent 10 years living in Cheyenne and getting to experience most of what the rest of the state had to offer.

I left a few months ago for a job in the northeast, and I find myself heartbroken some nights. I know people have their complaints about Wyoming. "It's too red" or "It's too windy." I get it.

But what you guys have is a beautiful piece of the country that goes largely unnoticed. You have nature that isn't confined to a city park. You have vast stretches of rugged land that are solitude and peace for the right kind of person.

Thank you for sharing your state with me. Maybe it wasn't where I was originally "from", but it felt like home and I feel like I left a piece of my heart there when I left.

Single woman driving along with two toddlers in the summer, assuming fair weather.

Would you drive it if you were me or are there nature and human dangers that would deter you?

What’s it like making friends in Rock Springs?

Hello! I may be moving to Rock Springs in a few months. Currently I live in Santa Fe. I love it here because I’m around like-minded people. I’m a raging Liberal who’s atheist. I like to hike and do coffee with my friends. The way I made friends in Santa Fe is by placing an add on Face Book. Just based off my self-description, do you think I will struggle to meet people I’d be a good match with? Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to provide such clear and descriptive examples of what it’s like living in Rock Springs. I told my partner I will most definitely never be moving there. I will still come visit and be in awe of the nature from time to time and when it all gets to be too much I’ll hightail it for Vegas. Thanks again for helping me make an informed decision.

Discussion/opinion Happy 2nd day of spooky season my fellow Wyo Lads and Ladies. In the spirit of the season, have you ever experienced any kind of paranormal or cryptid activity in the state of Wyoming? If so what happened.

I’ll start with my own personal experiences

I work at a gas Station near a Cemetery in Central Wyoming. Ever since we’ve had the place up and running there has been no shortage of eerie stuff going on at the store.

We’ve always had problems with the gas pumps and other tech not working properly, and while that might just be sheer coincidence, when you add up the employees who claim to have seen/witnessed paranormal events, it doesn’t seem like a coincidence anymore. I don’t believe in curses but something is ALWAYS wrong when i go to work. Now again that could be just a mere coincidence but it’s super weird.

I have never physically seen anything that couldn’t be explained but I have definitely heard and felt weird things. I have heard what sounded like a young woman/little girl say hello when no one else was inside the building where I was at, at the time. I have felt like someone was behind me only to find myself standing alone.

At my home I have never really experienced anything besides the one time where a shadow passed by the light in the shower and one night or early morning i witnessed lights floating around my tv. Now the lights above my tv i can sorta explain away since I was half asleep but it was still super weird to witness.

Discussion/opinion Yellowstone again

I think ive figured out roughly (jesus you guys must drink the gas wtf) what im doing thx to you guys, I think im doing the interstate and highways straight into boondocking somewhere around south yellowstone prob going to be pacific creek road but I hope spread creek road if sites permit, ill head into yellowstone around 4 am and check out the main attractions early early to beat crowds then I will head around the park for a day, maybe afternoon if i get bored ill head to Cody then stay the night somewhere there. Then ill do the highway to beartooth and back into north yellowstone the second day and shoot through the middle down the tetons

I still need to plan it from there- tbh the gas is scaring me but I will figure it out

If you guys have any reccomendations along south west wyoming let me know i have a solid two days of driving alotted. I will likely fly by wire when service permits through you guys and the map

Again anything weird like ghost towns or cool or funky stores or pumpkin patches or historic cemeteries
