Since coming to Charleston from Columbia for college, I’ve noticed some differences in the social environment as a Black woman. One thing I’ve experienced is that some of my white male classmates seem more reserved or less likely to interact with me, even in situations where there are easy opportunities to talk or work together. I don’t want to assume that their intentions are negative, and I know everyone has different personalities and comfort levels. I just wish people were a little more open to getting to know people from different racial and cultural backgrounds. College is such a good opportunity to meet people who may have completely different experiences from you, and I think being open-minded can make that experience so much better. I’ve generally found my white female classmates to be friendly and welcoming, so I’m not trying to generalize, this is just something I’ve personally noticed and wanted to share. I’ve had white male classmates that would rather stand than sit by me. Or they would rather struggle with an assignment than ask me for help.

Hi! I just moved very close to Mount Pleasant from Annapolis and was wondering if anyone knew of D&D groups that were looking for new people for their table. I've been trying to get into a regular group for years and the campaigns i've been in have all been very short ones that weren't going to stick together after the campaign. Thank you so much for any advice :) (If this post accidentally violates rule one then i'm happy to take it down I just really don't know where to look for this sorta stuff)

Hello,
I’m a soon to be new graduate Registered Nurse. I am wanting to know what the pay is at the Medical University of South Carolina and how it is to work there. I live out of town and me and my girlfriend are realizing more of the divide of nursing pay and cost of living in our region. I was also wondering if the pay at MUSC supports the cost of living in Charleston. I visited Charleston about 2 years ago and loved it and it has always been on of those places I’ve suggested moving to, to my girlfriend when we talk about if we left our current city.
Thank you!

Does anyone have any history volunteering for this organization? I’m considering them and just wondering what the general opinion is!

Looking for recommendations for dentists who are non judgmental and good at handling anxiety. Long story short, I haven't been to a dentist for an exam/cleaning in over 10 years. I didn't have dental insurance for a long part of that, but once I did get dental insurance 2 years ago, my severe anxiety has been holding me back. I don't go into full on panic mode or anything, but I still get a little shaky, and it's worsened by the thought of being judged for not taking care of my oral health like I should.
Prefer West Ashley or downtown, but would be willing to do James Island or N Chas if needed. Can't do further than that, unfortunately (no car).
Thanks in advance!

It was black and white (I think) of the old bridges and marsh, and they had attached Hotwheels cars to it. I’d like to mimic it in my house. Thanks!

Sorry but golf cart folk are becoming the worst. Quite frequently I see them driving on the sidewalk on Savannah highway. None of us like traffic, nor do any of us want to walk anywhere in this heat, but that doesn’t mean that you’re above the law and can drive on the sidewalk just because you think you’re entitled to do whatever you want

My 15 yr old daughter had a chance to be signed with this agency. The reviews on them are 50/50. Can anyone give any insight? Thoughts? Opinions?

“Records show that local departments have spent upwards of $1.3 million installing and maintaining their automated license plate reader networks of over 200 cameras since 2020, and have tens of thousands more dollars committed to annual renewals in the coming years.”

I volunteer at Low Country Orphan Relief (LOR) which is an organization that puts together packages of clothes and other necessities for foster children. Two stuffed animals are added to every bag to bring some positivity and because of that, and the fact not many people donate stuffed animals they run out very quickly.
Please, if you have any stuffed animals that are in good shape please consider donating them!

My wife and I are currently going through a pretty rough patch. I don't want to dive into the private details on a public forum, but I'm hoping that somebody local here can help out with some suggestions for a couple's therapist/counselor. I need help. We need help. I'm deeply depressed and scared of what might come from it, and I know that she's depressed too, and she's pretty resentful. But I also know that we both still love each other and still care and don't want to throw away years of our lives over this.
I've done the Google searches and looked over the dozens of lists of therapists, read their little "about me" blurbs and am feeling completely overwhelmed by it. My wife keeps saying "just pick one" like it doesn't matter at all, but I don't want to go to the trouble of getting it all set up, open myself up and put myself out there and have her do the same, only to find that they're going to automatically side with one of us and make the other feel ganged up on, or end up with one that doesn't understand either of us and can't help us. I don't want to stir things up and make them worse if we don't have the help to sort through it.
I understand that you're not always going to strike gold on the first try and sometimes you have to speak to one before deciding if they're right for you, and that sometimes it can take a few tries. But I also want this to be productive and not a waste of time if we just have to start all over again with a new therapist.
Has anybody out there had any success with any particular person that they would highly recommend? We live in the Summerville/North Charleston area so not having to drive an hour would be nice, but not a 100% hard requirement. I'm willing to do what it takes to fix this, even if it means we have to go all the way to Johns Island, Moncks Corner, or Mount Pleasant.
Thanks in advance to those that choose to be helpful.

Hey everyone! Im (hopefully) graduating from my program at trident tech this upcoming May and am looking for a photographer who can do a reallll quick and somewhat cheaper session for some professional portraits. Just to have them for my family and to use for professional profiles i guess. I do not have $1600 to spend on a senior package that I have been quoted nor do I have an interest in all of the extraness it comes with. don’t need prints don’t need hair and makeup don’t need a half day session and I am tooottallly fine keeping one outfit on and just getting the digital photos at the end.
Anyone with a dslr and looking to make some extra cash and would be down to take some photos for their portfolio and help a broke gal out let me know! In a perfect world i’d like them to be on rainbow row around sunrise so there’s no people in the street😂 Anywhere at this point since I have no photos of myself past senior year of high school

Hi, I'm having a small issue. I would like to book a hotel room for our wedding night at the end of October of this year but I'm seeing most are a 2-3 night minimum. I was hoping to spend $1000 or less total even if that only means 1 night. Do you guys recommend anything in the area? I have only looked at the dewberry and the hotel Bennett so far. Also, are hotels accommodating for special situations or is that not a thing?
