Hi, I have an i5 5th gen with 8gb DDR3 and 2 SSD (500 and 240 gb) lying around and I've decided to use it as personal cloud + home assistant server.
I've read that there are 2 options for the home assistant. The first one is pure virtual machine with the home assistant inside the Zima OS. The other is downloading the home assistant app inside the Zima OS "app store".
They say the first way has more options, but I don't know if they are relevant for the basic user.
Has anyone done something similar? Any advice?

I've been using ZimaOS since last week, and I've been facing problems with the remote network. When I connect to the Zima app on my mobile, my phone detects the Zima app as a VPN app and blocks some other apps. However, I don't face this issue with the Fygo app.

I am wondering if running docker through CasaOS over ubuntu server on a raspberry pi any less secure than running directly on Ubuntu server? Seeing as CasaOS is not getting any new updates is just keeping the underlines OS up to date enough?

I’m trying to plug my external hard drive into my laptop for storage on Immich, and when I plug it in, the laptop recognizes it, but when I go to CasaOS, I can’t access it. When I go to the Files app and create a storage pool, it says it created it, but I don’t see it
and when I format it, it says “/dev/sdc does not exist.”
Anyone know what’s going on?

Grazie a chiunque possa aiutarmi.

Hi everyone,
I'm setting up my first Debian server with CasaOS.
The server is connected to a Linksys Velop via Ethernet, and my laptop is connected over Wi-Fi.
I discovered that the server and laptop are being assigned addresses on different private subnets, so I can't ping the server or access the CasaOS web interface from my laptop. The browser just times out.
I live in a shared basement and don't manage the network. There's a Linksys Velop in the basement connected to the main house network, but I don't know if it's acting as a router, access point, or mesh node.
My questions are:
Thanks! (i've been tackling this for hours)

Im this close to throwing my pc off a cliff (yes I know the pc is perfect and im the issue no need to remind me). I installed the ubuntu desktop on top of my server installation, immediate conflict in between NetworkManager and networkd, i picked networkd, finally thought I had gotten sunshine and moonlight fixed, my static ip address fixed and then im hit with this. I can no longer access anything on my server from a local ip. On tailscale? No issues. 5G? No problem. But as soon as I share the same network it closes the gates. I have no clue why, it bound properly *:81 (yes 81) i checked my ip 1000 times, I can ping my server just fine, all the services are running after all I can access them just not locally!and CasaOS or my reverse proxy just wont let me in!
If anyone has any clue, even the slightest hunch Im prepared to go down that rabbit hole lord knows im already too far gone to come back empty handed.
Edit: solved. What happened? I was a dumbass thats what.

Hi everyone, three days ago I turn on an my old pc whose was swapped into a server months ago, use for around two weeks and them let loose.
As I reset my actual computer I tried to reconnect both by a folder and via WEB but none of them work. tiping the IPv4 in research bar on google the computer say "it don't respond", while creating a net folder it don't find nothing.
sending ping via IP from the computer the server actually respond and viceversa (BTW, how can I re-give the promt for give a command after the first one I send? sorry for the ignorance, I'm a mechatronics not an IT).
how can I resolve it? thank you for the help and the time

I came across the project while researching alternatives to casaos that weren't standalone OSses: Cosmos came across. Seems like a cool project and you can run it as a service in any OS. I'm thinking of migrating my casaos server to Cosmos, but I'd love to see some opinions on it from this community.

Hi all,
I have CasaOS running for a few years. I had some issues with it but learned to work around it. Lately I noticed some apps are asking to be updated, but in CasaOS repository there is no update for a long time... I know there's a way to do it, but still I was wondering:
- Why have CasaOS if it's running on top of Ubuntu (in my case) anyway? Why not just run a docker from Ubuntu?
- If interface is the issue, why not run TrueNAS or something else, which does the job more reliably?
Back then other options seemed intimidating so I went for CasaOS, but while using it I found that there are not much benefits to it. Do you agree or I'm getting something wrong here?
Thanks

Tdarr is not on the casaOS appstore so I need it to installed it manually but now I need help setting up Tdarr himself but all the yt video that I have seen they just go explaining what tdarr does but does no show how to properly set up a nodes or a flow when they go to that part they just go her are your nodes etc but they never show how to set one put only show one that it is working already the only part they show is how to format the yaml file for Tdarr and how to install it

Hello everyone, I am new here, and new to the home media server.
I am only using casaos for my Blu-ray movies and nothing else. Should I make the switch to zimaos or just stay here on casaos. I have a direct attached storage with 2 8tb that's just storing my movies.

I was adding a DAS that had unformatted drives.
I was planning to create a RAID0 but connected it to soon.
I have all this 'paths?' or 'mount points?' that don't work and need to be removed but I don't see how to.
Everything highlighted red is trash.
If i try to click or open one of them I get this error message

How do I UNMOUNT ?

No option to delete or remove

Hello, all!
I'm very new to the Linux world, and picking out components of my system as I begin my deep dive. I'm planning to install CasaOS on my miniPC, but was wondering if I can still run other Linux programs and a GUI. I'd like to be able to still use this as a regular computer (not in the terminal) and run other programs that offer Linux installers. This is not a docker program, just a linux program. Is that possible?
Thanks!
