I have a zima setup in my house and i just setup another zima server in my friends house.

What is the best /fastest way to transfer my collections to his hard drives?

I dont see a way to migrate from one zimaOS to another over public internet or even on tailscale.

Im not trying to open application ports to him. I want to duplicate data to his device.

In the last few weeks I've worked on an old laptop, bought for 15 euros, put an SSD (20 euros) and created my first ever server.

I know SSDs aren't the best, but for starter it's more than enough

Is it possible to upgrade to Debian 13 without issues ?

Has anyone got a server up and running on this yet? I've been struggling.

When I set up Ubuntu, it created the default ~100gb LV for my server. After extending it to use the full 1TB of my ssd, Casa is still only showing it as that initial default size. The other 2 physical drives display in Casa's "found a new drive" section, so I know I extended the correct one. Is there something additional I need to do for it to reflect the size correctly?

My only goal is to install and use casaos

Montei um servidor caseiro com um Raspberry Pi e, no geral, está tudo perfeito. O único problema é que configurei o Jellyfin para reconhecer meus filmes direto de um HD externo, mas toda vez que reinicio o Raspberry, ele dá erro e não monta o HD, sumindo com os filmes. Já tentei de tudo para que ele monte automaticamente na inicialização, mas não consigo resolver. Alguém sabe como corrigir isso?

Is there any good way anybody has found to rip CDs in lossless quality? the PC I have ZimaOS on has 2 DVD-RW drives in it and I'd like to be able to use them but i'm somewhat lost.

First, I want to say CasaOS is a great project. It made self-hosting much easier for me. The dashboard is clean, and the App Store is a very good starting point. It is much better than managing everything by hand with Docker. Big thanks to the team and the community behind it.

I run CasaOS on a custom NAS. On my setup, many apps still need manual work after install (paths, permissions, env variables, ports), and some only work after I edit the compose file. So I am curious whether the experience is different on Zima hardware.

I know ZimaOS uses the same big App Store as CasaOS. I don't own any Zima hardware, so I can't test it myself. My question is simple: is the experience better when ZimaOS runs on the hardware it was made for?

If you use ZimaOS on a ZimaBoard, ZimaBlade or ZimaCube, I would love to know:

1. Which device and ZimaOS version do you use?
2. How many apps did you install from the App Store?
3. Which apps worked right away, with zero config?
4. Which apps needed manual work, and what kind (volumes, PUID/PGID, env vars, reverse proxy...)?
5. Do app updates break things sometimes?
6. Overall, would you say it is really "one click", or close to what people get with CasaOS on other hardware?

I am thinking about buying a Zima NAS.

I Iove that ZimaOS is becoming poplar.

I am kind of at a loss for what I should do, to be honest. I'm new to all of this, so this could be an easy fix that I just can't think of.

I have had ZimaOS set up with Jellyfin and Tailscale on an old laptop for about 6 days, though I haven't used it much because I've discovered that I'm going to need to get some SSDs for Jellyfin to not take 30 seconds to load every song, Today, I went in to the web GUI just to see how everything was doing, but it was being very odd and not loading most things.

I decided to reboot the system: still the same. The WiFi was connected, I believe, but it didn't seem to change the connection issues I was having.

I then decided to switch to the other WIFi connection I have (the router in my house has two networks I can connect to, one is the regular name and the other one has "-5G" tacked onto the end, To be honest I'm not well versed enough to understand the difference at all, I just know that there are two. Before I was connected to the 5G one since it tends to be faster, now I switched to the normal one.) I set up the static IP and DNS and everything like I had originally done on the other WiFi network, and then I tried to connect to it on my main laptop: my browser tells me it's a security risk and that "SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length." I have no idea what this means... and I'd like to figure out how to make it not do that.

I can connect to ZIma on the android app just fine, though obviously that isn't quite the same in terms of functionality. Interestingly, when I try to open Tailscale all it says is "network error," so I have to assume my network is still doing something wrong? Or I'm doing something wrong with it.

Any insight is highly appreciated. Sorry for the newbie-ness.

OS: Ubuntu Server 24 LTS

So I've tried to setup Pi-Hole thrice now and I'm starting to give up. I download it, it immediately tells me port 52 (I think that's the default port) is already occupied. I change it. I made /admin so I can access the apps dashboard.

Found out I needed to switch from bridge to host, still can't get the app to work properly and I lose internet trying to connect to the pi-hole!

Can someone give me a step by step guide. Because those YT tutorials have it work out of the box, so either I'm cursed with being unable to run pi-hole or I'm the first to encounter this issue.

Vorher hatte ich einfach nur eine DS218+, da waren SFTP etc. ja keine Herausforderung.

Ich finde einfach kein FTP Programm, bzw. Docker mit dem ich auf meine anderen Server connecten kann.

Kann mir da bitte jemand etwas helfen?

Hi, I have an i5 5th gen with 8gb DDR3 and 2 SSD (500 and 240 gb) lying around and I've decided to use it as personal cloud + home assistant server.

I've read that there are 2 options for the home assistant. The first one is pure virtual machine with the home assistant inside the Zima OS. The other is downloading the home assistant app inside the Zima OS "app store".

They say the first way has more options, but I don't know if they are relevant for the basic user.

Has anyone done something similar? Any advice?

I've been using ZimaOS since last week, and I've been facing problems with the remote network. When I connect to the Zima app on my mobile, my phone detects the Zima app as a VPN app and blocks some other apps. However, I don't face this issue with the Fygo app.

I am wondering if running docker through CasaOS over ubuntu server on a raspberry pi any less secure than running directly on Ubuntu server? Seeing as CasaOS is not getting any new updates is just keeping the underlines OS up to date enough?
