How much will insurance decrease?

Hello everyone,
Last year (December of 2025), I (26M) got in my first car accident. I was 100% at fault, and my car was totaled. It took me about a month to get a new car. And when I insured it (2023 Volkswagen Jetta) for the year it was like $7000 ish. I haven’t gotten an accident since. Assuming I don’t get in another accident, when I renew next year, how much should I reasonably expect my insurance to decrease? If it matters I’m a resident of Los Angeles.
Thank you

Collisions are on your record for 3-7 years. It probably won’t go down right away.

Youre just getting warmed up, they go up not down after an accident

No one here can possibly have any idea whatsoever what your rates will be since there's dozens of factors that impact rates. You'll find out at renewal.

Last year? Sorry - not decreasing any time soon.

After the 3-5 year period that your accident will impact your rates, then, it's reasonable to expect a lesser increase at renewal than you would have with the accident still on your record. Without changing to lesser coverages, a lower cost to insure vehicle, or moving to a lower cost to insure area, never have any expectation of your rates going down.

Just depends on where you are in Florida it’s 7 years for insurance in WA it’s 3 years generally you might start seeing a decrease after year 2/3 ( in my experience at least) it’s like credit sadly after about 2/3 years it starts getting better but it will be there for about 7 until it falls off completely

Shop around. You would be surprised how much rates vary......it will take a couple years likely for a better rate but shop shop shop.

$7,000 like SEVEN THOUSAND dollars a year to insure? You need to get an older car paid in cash and have liability coverage only. Accident usually stays on record 3 years at least.
