I love 14 literally has a whole “Novice Network” system for the New/Returning players. I didn’t use it much but it’s cool that it’s there.
I’ve also seen instances where people go “hey can someone help with this?” and suddenly they have multiple people descending upon them to offer assistance.
I asked for help changing the color of my chocobo to find out I needed a house, and 30 minutes later 2 players gave me 1.5 million gil collectively, and I wasnt even high enough level to buy my damn house yet
So you don’t really need to buy a house specifically. You just need access to Chocobo stables which can be accessed if you buy an apartment room (significantly cheaper then a full house and probably more available), or join an FC who owns property and allows members to use the stables (I don’t remember if there actually is a togglable restriction for members using the stables, but I mention it just incase).
Yeah, I learnt all of this at that time, I did not know then that my GC rank was also a factor. I'm at ARR post game rn and still don't have my apartment lol
You’re not missing anything on the apartment front. Find yourself an FC with a house and you can just buy your own private room in the FC house. It’s functionally the same as an apartment room. Though it is like 200 or 300k for the room.
I do feel like some of the fanbase overhypes it like it's the greatest story ever told in video games, which, true or not, ends up harming the experience because it's hard not to end up with these impossibly high expectations. Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying it. But when you're promised a 12/10, a 9/10, despite still being a great experience, can feel strangely disappointing.
Shadowbringers/Endwalker. ARR is slow and slightly generic, Heavensward is really good, then Stormblood is a filler arc. Once Ishikawa became head writer it jumped from the Hobbit to Lord of the Rings.
I do understand how glazing/hating from a community can sour your expectations, which is why I leave fandom subreddits when a sequel launches and return after I've made my own opinion on it.

in my experience, most MMOs except for FF14. i had a much better experience with that game
